Did you not know that? On that subject, a Smith Everest is currently viewed in much higher esteem and is harder to get and of course you could always top it with a vulcain as worn by the Italians when they conquered K2. I’ve never quite understood the mystique of “this watch has been up Everest”
Tenzing was from Folkestone though, honest.
@@Robert-vw3od Is a new Smith’s Everest from Timefactors harder to get than a new Explorer? I’d thought it was a bit tricky to get one when they open the online shop every few months but hadn’t realised it was harder than the Rolex

Just shifted this video from my cell phone to TV and realized it has 5.1 surround sound. STRONG recommendation to watch this with surround. The background music coming out of the satellites and the main voice over from the center is a total premium touch.

Rolex prices ticking over retail is not the norm. It is an aberation that started in late 2016. We have correcting back to baseline for the last 2 years. Rolex make more watches at a higher rate every year but the world isnt doing the same with 1 percenters each year to keep the prices elevated.
Correct… Always lost money from MSRP before the white 116520 went over retail.
Your “Sky Dweller” bit had me giggling so I played it for my wife when she asked what was so funny. Turns out some people have no appreciation for flatulence humor. Fortunately, my 12 & 14 year-old boys heard it too & found it hilarious.

There’s a lot of watches I’d prefer over a Rolex, but I still feel it’s a staple of anyone’s collection. (Not that I can afford it lol)
The list of Daytonas and Yachtmasters that can be found under retail is a lot longer than the one’s mentioned. Black 226570 is also under retail.
All in all, it would have been easier to make a list of Rolex models that still can be traded or flipped for a profit, as these are fewer than the one’s which yield a profit.

Last Rolex I bought a Rolex was 1999. It was a GMT pepsi, I paid retail price minus 5% discount, plus a Tiffany silver key-holder as a gift from the dealer. I still have the box and papers, but the GMT has been stollen. RIP.
I'll never own a rolex but really value these hilarious updates. What about rolexes that sell for a premium next?

supply and demand, theres no demand for something 2nd hand used or put in a safe as an investment. your industry has been fleecing customers for far too long and its payback time. suck it up circa 1m+ bolexes made a year and people think its some kind of rare element

It seems that here in Canada they have not heard that Rolex watches are available. At least my inquiries were met with we don’t have stock and we don’t have waitlist and oh, by the way are you interested in a gold date just… I bought an Omega.

I am loving the grey market drop. Dealers are now selling watches to ordinary buyers as grey market dealers have exited the market. I just bought a 36mm blue dial Datejust with a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet, at my local A.D., for my wifes anniversary present...

Ok Andrew, I have several beautiful Rolex watches. I happen to love the the look of the The YachtMaster II! That Ceramic blue bezel is an amazing piece of art. I will never use the timer, and will never race a yacht ( I may own one some day). I have never even used the timer for anything, as my iPhone has a nicer timer. The watch is too big for me at 44mm. However, I still really love this watch and wear it often. I have been wearing my white dial Sky Dweller lately, but I still have a special place in my heart for the YMII.

Quite the "Rolex futures" piece here, Andrew. For me, the first Yacht Master was most-intriguing, but at that (slightly-reduced) price, the farthest I'll go with anything vaguely referring to yachting is a copy of The Police's *Regatta de Blanc* .

I am a big fan of the YM lineup, so let us hope the sale prices persist while the watch purchase bank account refills. It was a big start to 2024 as I rounded out the Panerai collection, so we have a bit of wait. As part of the PAM buying spree, I picked up two precious metal, a white gold and a red gold. They were just too good a price to pass up, coming in not a great lot higher than the SS versions. I must admit, I never saw the value in the more expensive metal, but I am gradually becoming a convert. Being able to nab some PM, or part PM, Rolex at favorable pricing seems like a solid plan.
Great video! After being on a waitlist for years for a sub or Batman, I'm actively trying to purchase an SD43 on Chrono. I keep seeing videos like yours that these can be procured below retail. But I am seeing over retail for all model years except for surprisingly the Mark 1 2017 versions. All the used watches I'm seeing are also polished which I believe would impact the value of the watch if I trade it in in the future. I try to negotiate but having no luck to get below retail. Any advice?

I keep hearing people say skydweller is most complicated Rolex watch but more then one Rolex watchmaker at USA service center (nyc) told me the yachtmaster 2 is more complicated. 🤷 anyways, congrats on your newfound “freedom” and I wish you all the best moving forward!
