Before you give up on a watch that you think was a mistake or that you've gotten tired of and sell it on for a big loss, try changing the band. It may transform the watch, and if it doesn't work, you probably can salvage the band for another watch. Btw, you're the best in the business Andrew, but you'll just ignore this comment.
So becoming educated on a topic is a bad thing? In any event, my post was based on personal experience, and if other people say the same thing, perhaps it's good advice.@@ubertoby
You’ve done it again, Andrew. You’ve amused, entertained and educated me! I appreciate all the hard work you must put in to make these little masterpieces. Many thanks
Collecting is a journey, not only consumerism. Each customer I meet has a different reason for why to sell/trade and why to buy a new watch, some reasons are hilarious, some are tragic. Enjoy your watch and the memories attached to it as much as you can. We are not eternal and watches remind that to us daily. Buy a watch for what it means to you, never what it means for the others.
Andrew - another fantastic video filled with thought, insight and super funny...and no, Teddy didn't put me up to this comment to make you over-confident!!
This one resonated with me😂 The thing is, I still regret those regrets. Regret, it seems, is like a chap's balcony over the sweetshop; it grows with time.
You are consistently the highlight of my day! Not sure if that is a reflection on you or the state of my life. You are ALWAYS witty, informative and a brilliant wordsmith. Thanks so much for doing what you do.
Andrew, your perspicuousness (is that a word?) never cease to amaze. IF you find yourself thumbing a lift having been pushed off the horology highway, you always have a budding career in stand up comedy ! Notwithstanding the humor in this video, the tips are spot one except for getting rid of a watch. Just keep it. It (any purchase) represents a point in history when a decision was made whatever that was. It may not appeal today, but your view will change when you look back at it 10 years from now.
Brilliant vid, ha ha ha the bit about buying a watch then re-watching watching videos and re-reading articles about it to reaffirm and convince yourself you were right to buy it from the approval of strangers, I always do that 😂😂 no more though!!
Definitely try the watch on before buying it, if possible! It will help avoid the pain of opening the box, putting it on and realising it is not the best fit for you!
As a Trekkie, I appreciate the inclusion of the classic Bashir-Garak quote. Even when it's about watches? Especially when it's about watches. Keep up the great work!
One of the best videos i ve seen yet about watches and not only of course! You offered some great psycological guidance not only in the watch world but generally n the consuming world. Weel done! Respect! Thank you!
I have no problem admitting defeat on a watch I've purchased. Years of practice in other fields of self acclaimed expertise have made me bulletproof to subsequent fails.
How are you able to get inside my head. Your words are so damn accurate and sometimes you just need to hear these things from someone seriously respected. Thank you
Loved the content of this latest video! It is something I completely empathise with and well done you for passing the message on to be that little bit nicer to someone and each other.......it was kind of a resolution for myself this year! 🙂
I did not realize until just this moment that there are 10 watches that exist on this planet that I absolutely must have immediately! Good thing that I wrote them all down!!!!
Love your channel. Always fun and informative. However, I must argue, be it ever so feebly, that my quarts PRX does kind of give me that first kiss feeling every time I put it on "my precious" 🤣. Keep up the brilliant work☮️
"This is my watch. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My watch is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life... etc."
I’ve just had the call from my Rolex AD. This video helped me make my decision and think with my head not my heart…..nah… it’s beautiful and shiny, I’m going to say yes to it regardless 😂😂
Hey Andrew. I really liked this video. Specially the final minutes. I agree. Sometimes something as simple and mundane as a watch can get you connected to some trully amazing people. And that moment your life turns to the better or even to the best i would dare to say. Thanks for all your hard work in this videos that keep me away from other life worries for a few minutes every now and then. Teddy promised me 20 dollars if i write this. It is just business 😅
"How much vodka did your mother drink when she was pregnant?" I have to remember that one! Thanks for the laughs on a dreary day here in western Canada :)
Ive been after a titanium diver..Bought a certina ds 38mm titanium, thought i loved it. When i got it i was like.. sheeshh i think what i wanted was a tag titanium solargraph.. bought it.. now im like.. maybe what i wanted was the pelagos? Im i sick? I really like the solargraph though.
The doublechecking thing is super accurate. Are you spying on me mr Andrew? No but for real I catch myself looking at my watch online, and even tho I love it, even tho I know if I went back in time i still would've bought this exact watch, still looking at reviews, specs, and comparing it to slightly different watches. It's almost like a universal rule in our stupid smushy human brains to self sabotage and doubt ourselves
I’ve seen so many times in the past that people who have a water resistant watch like 100m or more avoid water, I can tell you this is because you’re avoiding water and washing your watch regularly you’re risking not only to potentially making your watch no longer water resistant but also corrosion and damage to you watch case Sweat and dust and other foreign elements are the worst enemy for your watch, just like computers hate the dust and heat so does your watch hate your sweat and such… Just a friendly advice, wash you water resistant watch often in warm water and some hand detergent, I do it everyday and my watch is sparkling clean and water tight…
Amen to all that's been said except that when I buy a watch - invariably for my younger son - I've never thought of it as an investment. It's always for keeps, with no intention of selling it off in future
Contents. Also spoilers, but you should watch the whole thing like I did: 1) 0:16 - don't show it to everyone (oops) 2) 1:57 - don't talk to her for the next three hours about your watch. 3) 3:44 - don't buy a watch you're not 1,000,000,000% sold on. Corollary: don't keep doubling down on it, just sell it. 4) 5:19 - don't screen your watch online (oops) for clout. 5) 7:07 - don't scour the internet for validating opinions re: the watch you already bought (commenter note: if you feel an itch for this, see #3 & consider selling) 6) 9:11 - don't buy beyond your means, you'll sweat it each time you look at it. Relatedly, see #3. 7) 10:55 - don't buy assuming you'll make money on it (or relatedly, assume it'll lose money the second you buy it) 8) 12:27 - don't worry about keeping the watch scratch-free. relatedly, if you know you'll worry about it, see #3 and #6. 9) 14:00 - don't assume this watch will be your forever watch, you'll get bored of it eventually and that's okay. 10) 15:25 - don't treat it as more than just a watch. It's just a watch. It just tells the time. (but it does help you connect with other people who also like watches)
I noticed that when a person’s eyes glaze over, you lost them. lol My wife wanted a new watch, so I bought her a Tissot that she really liked. I started to tell her about the watch and noticed I had lost her. I said I thought you wanted to know a little about the Tissot? And she asked, does it tell time? I gave up right there. lol
We married the same type of woman, mine wanted a Rolex because it’s a Rolex but after explaining the beauty of an automatic we just agreed she should stick with her Tiffany jewelry and quartz Omega/Cartier.
One thing you should never do is to put them through the wash in your trouser pocket. Especially if they have zero water resistance. Omega servicing did a pretty good job on my DeVille, that was my 21st birthday present from my parents, but...
I had a Tissot Seastar for 49 years, I wore that watch every day, in the shower, swimming in pools, and even swimming a lot in the Pacific Ocean, it never had any signs of rust outside or inside, no moisture ever got into it, and it wasn't even a screw down crown. It did fatally fail 3 years ago when the rotor bearings fried and it couldn't be repaired, my jeweler told me to send it to Tissot which I did, but they could not fix it either, so they offered me an exchange, my watch for a new PR100 Powermatic 80 and $220 which would have been the cost of the repair, I took the deal.
How many times have you done this? Rock bottom and digging. So sad, many thanks for all your previous good videos and your historical work in Watch Finder
Ok so mortgage the house and put it all on the horses. Thank you for the investment advice Andrew. The wife is a bit unsure but we are putting our trust in you.
I went through a few months of thinking "if I get a Rolex, that will be the last watch I buy". I scoured the internet, saved my dollars and finally bought one. I thought I had arrived. I thought that watch would cure me of the need to look in shop windows or browse ebay. Nope. I bought another one.
I keep everything in Pelicases. I’m hoping they’ll release a Special Forces Packed Lunch case (with handcuff). Does this make me a bad person? Or just sad?
I think one of the regrets i've had was to get a watch because I was offered one, and I knew was pretty coveted. I'd worry if I didn't take it. At the end, I realised it wasn't a good fit, and I'd be stuck "holding the bag" because I didn't want to sell the watch and enrage the brand.
Watches are very highly personal items hence should definitely be kept under wraps and not be shared with others unless these others are well known trustworthy individuals. Along the same lines I buy watches which impress and or please me individually never to seek others approvals or impress anyone anyway. They would do different spending their money, they have different aspirations and tastes in everything which is great. I have yet to sell a watch away, I don’t think I’ll ever do it though.
I have taken a Rolex YM with me while hacking through the jungle in the Congo to come across a large Silverback gorilla. Rolex did great! I also recommend them when sled dogging to the North Pole. An Omega Seamaster is better for climbing Everest and, of course, a 5811 for flipping of super yachts. My 2 cents....
I outsource all my fun and my opinions and my time and my money. The benefactor who sleeps beside me says the wait for my new watch is longer than the wait for tartan paint.

Such a great video. Awesome takes. Thanks. Very thought provoking. Your watch animations are hypnotizing.
Yes throw that good money after bad buying straps for a watch you hate! "Oh its just the same fkin watch with a lairy new strap, FFS".
Your UA-cam videos get better and better. Always good entertainment for every watch enthusiast
You’ve done it again, Andrew. You’ve amused, entertained and educated me! I appreciate all the hard work you must put in to make these little masterpieces. Many thanks
Anyone insecure enough to regret a watch purchase just because of an online comment or opinion, should stay away from the internet full stop.
My mother drank too much vodka when she was pregnant...NOW I have an excuse! Thanks, Andrew!
I aim to please!

“Watch dealer for the navy seals” funniest thing I’ve heard in weeks. And I’ve spoken to a flat earther
This is a great episode, superbly filmed, written and delivered.
So much sage and relatable advice 💯
Love the humour you inject into your comments!
Another great blend if information delivered with laughter at ourselves, keep up the great work it’s appreciated 👏
What an enjoyable video! Thanks so much! You made me smile, you made chuckle. 😊 Have a great day.

This one resonated with me😂 The thing is, I still regret those regrets. Regret, it seems, is like a chap's balcony over the sweetshop; it grows with time.
Andrew is an absolute wordsmith. Sometimes it feels like he’s talking about me and I’ve never even met the man.
You are consistently the highlight of my day! Not sure if that is a reflection on you or the state of my life. You are ALWAYS witty, informative and a brilliant wordsmith. Thanks so much for doing what you do.
WOW! You actually have other shirts! Looks great. I really appreciate your work and am glad you are changing it up a bit. Thanks.
What a wit you have regarding the watch world and the psychology about us watch collectors.
Your writing is as great as your images. Keep up the good work. I’ll keep watching.
The cure for most problems mentioned by Andrew is, buy pre-owned and at a good price! Little to no loss if one wants to move away from a watch…
This is way deeper than I expected. Love it

Well constructed, and transferable to almost any ‘object.’ Well done.

A master of the metaphor. Keep on keeping on.
I really wonder why the „regrets“ section is fully accompanied by images and videos from the IWC Ingenieur?!😂
Definitely try the watch on before buying it, if possible! It will help avoid the pain of opening the box, putting it on and realising it is not the best fit for you!

Nice work Andrew! One content provider to rule them all!
Andrew on fire! Informative and hilarious --- infolarious. And spot on to boot. Cheers!
Another great video Andrew, thank you, really enjoy your content
Lol, you're so correct. I am very attached to all my watches emotionally and my more expensive ones are exactly what u said

Exceptionally good video!
Brilliant! Funny. True. And well written. Great video. Keep it up.
Sometimes you make a watch video about your collection, and your favorite watch UA-camr make a reaction video to it 😃
Teddy made a video on it? 😂
@@AndrewMorganWatches lol
Nice video. You’re getting better Andrew.
Trolling Teddy! 😂 love both of you. 👊🏻👊🏻
Absolutely great video
Oh gosh.. an interesting take and you make some real points.
Such great prose! And heartfelt sentiments. Bravo!🎉
Yeah, the internet section was nailed 😅
What an absolutely brilliant and funny and wise video, loved watching this, all of it so so true 👍🏻
Thank you!

I don't know what your mother was drinking, but I thank my lucky stars for it. Another banger. More please!
One of your best-ever videos!

You are great, great content, great voice and somehow great knowledge👍🏻. Keep it up!!
Bought a Tissot Prx automatic with blue dial and a Casio W86 -1v in one week. The Casio stole my heart. Never buy a watch to impress others.
Genius observations!
Omg youre so funny. Amazing collection of watch imagery, insights and comedy. Kudos.

So true that one watch won’t do it. Got the grail watch (which met 2 other desirable requirements), and we’re now 3 more watches down since.
