Thank you very much for this. Really enjoyed it. I'm starting to improve our church cameras as well. I believe I'll be using the m43rds system as well. I currently have the g85 with the 45 to 150mm lens, but it isn't fast enough for our lighting conditions. I'm not a fan of shooting at 6400 iso. So I'm waiting to purchase the Canon 70-200mm with a speed booster to adapt to it.

Your older video like this was one of the gems I relied on when getting our church setup for live streaming a year ago, and this followup is also excellent. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We went with Canon camcorder style cameras basical so we would have parfocal lenses to give our tripod cameras some movement, but the image coming out of the camera just isn't where I wish it was. Just got our own GVM slider 2 weeks ago to put on the drums and its awesome! Also I also highly recommend the Eartec Ultralites as well.

As someone trying to get our church service stream to the next level, I really appreciate the detail you have provided. What I'm struggling with right now is getting some smooth pulls and pushes into our shots. I'm running Canon EOS R's (got 4). Everything is manual zoom. I'm switching on a BM ATEM Pro. Our shots look pretty good but we have no interesting movement. My setup is 3 cameras to the rear of the room, one to the left that I use to hop around to different subjects, a center shot that I keep on lead singer and a wide. I have one more camera that is on stage to the right that I use to get some profile shots and close ups for keys and guitars. I'm told that going with different camera models is not recommended so I'm struggling to figure out how to get smooth reliable and professional looking zoom movement shot with my current cameras or what kind of camera and setup would I need?
Hey Shawn, Canon EOS R's will give you great images but smooth zooming is not going to be easy. If you REALLY need smooth slow zooms you are better off going with a camcorder like this amzn.to/42rf4Li paired with a handle remote zoom controller. OR add gears to the lenses and use a zoom/focus system like tilta nucleus or this one amzn.to/3ptvd3V
350? That looks like a lot more that that. Always thought 350 was pretty tiny, but the church iw as going to was only 125 on a good day. Good for you with the shoe string budget to get this setup.
@@RylandRussell they are good when the lighting conditions are good suitable, I used to work on a TV channel which had an entire studio room with like 8 cameras and each of them was PTZ
While you were talking about the cameras around 4:07 I said why don't you get a PTZ and then you said "Don't get a PTZ Cam". I said "Are you reading my mind?" I still think a PTZ save you a lot of head count.
Nice informative video. I have two questions if you can answer: 1. How is your lighting? 2. Which lens would you recommend for a center follow/wide shot 80ft away with a 20x9 led wall behind the subject?
Crazy setup on the budget. There are some limitations against real broadcast systems like the lack of CCUs, blackmagic cameras can give you that functionality for cheap. But it's ingenious!
Hey bro this is an amazing setup. I subbed and liked . I am big fan of Panasonic Lumix cameras as well and I think they very budget friendly and they deliver amazing results. Keep it up
Not at all. I don’t have the need for the services they offer at this point and with them being bought by pushpay that worries me. Between our web presenter hd and Restream I have a yearly cost of $250 and the upfront cost of the web presenter at $500. If you have a decent internet connection I think Resi is overrated.
I may have missed it, but do you have a tutorial on how to hook up the ATEM for livestream, in person screens, and the computer with Pro Presenter? Looking for a good resource to help put all the pieces together.
Hey man I absolutely love the videos and the sound quality of your stream is great. QUICK QUESTION. What speakers are you using on the steps of the stage. I'm looking for some speakers like those that are small frame but have great sound.
Amazing video. Perfect marriage of excellence and budget. Ifyou were about to buy cameras for a setup like yours would you buy all the same cameras the same (example: all g7) or would you suggest doing a mixture like you have?
Thanks Brandon. I'm a big fan of the Lumix cams that have sensor stabilization like the g85 and gh5. They are great for sliders and handheld as they reduce micro jitters. But for locked off set shots the g7 is great as well! Gh4 allows you to record while outputting over HDMI as the g7 does not. So there are some variables there to consider.
Great video with lots of useful ideas. Our church is in the process of buying their first cameras and streaming equipment. Up until this point we have been using borrowed equipment. Would love an in depth look at your center u-built pole mount. We are looking at the same kind of idea. A traditional tripod takes up way too much floor space for where we need to locate it. Thanks for all the inspiration.
We just attached another high hat riser to the wood box. It’s ok but still gets vibrations from people in the booth. The pan bar is just a piece of conduit I cut and attached 😀
Hi, thanks for the great vid. I appreciate your channel very much. I'm just wondering how you matched the cameras? We are still figuring out how to match our GH5s and GH4. Tried different settings with the color profiles, but there are still very noticeable differences.

I am against the PZT cameras as well, but have very little camera knowledge. Do you have any unmanned cameras? We only have one camera man right now, but our livestream looks so boring, lol. Thanks
Good information for sure. We average around 140 or so. I would like to invest in another camera or two for our live stream, but not sure how much leadership would want to spend. We currently have one starter Canon r800 and just started live streaming last year like a lot of churches. I have heard IP cameras are where camera tech is going, but noticed you mentioned NOT getting a PTZ camera. Should I stick to the SDI and HDMI way, or go for the IP?
IMO the smaller sensors on most ptl cameras puts out an inferior picture. Also I’m a fan of my cameras being able to be used for interviews and event b roll and a ptz has one use case. Thanks Matthew!
Hey Ryland, what projector model are you using for the big main screen? I ask because I’m trying to nail down what features are needed to eliminate flickering when using cmos sensors. We’re about due to start replacing our projector (10 years old) and it looks like you don’t have the issue we have.
I’ve been unimpressed by their image quality. Also, for most churches having a camera that can be taken and used other places (interviews, location filming, etc) is very valuable. I can’t justify spending 5k to get a really good ptz and it be locked down to one job.
Awesome setup - thanks for sharing Ryland! Question, on the output from those Panasonic cameras, any delay on the HDMI output? Do you have to setup audio delay as well?
Just depends on if you are thinking about getting a new atem. If not then ya it’s great. If getting a new switcher might as well use the built in encoder maybe. We have really liked ours.
