I agree with Kurt Russell completely. I am 77 years old and about 52 years ago I had my wife and our two baby’s in car seats in the back seat. I was on highway 5 on the border of California and Oregon in the middle of the night. A car was following us, then passed and slowed down. I passed that car and immediately they pulled into a gravel area and slid to a stop, the passenger got out and we saw him run around the car into the drivers seat. With that they came back after me and were gaining on us. We topped a short hill and an off ramp was there and we could not see them so took the off ramp and at the bottom turned left under the freeway to a dead end. While they were chasing us I had my wife load my 45 pistol and a 44 mag revolver. While we sat under the freeway the car came down the off-ramp and sat there watching us for about a minute. If they came by us in a threatening manner, my wife had already unbuckled the kids and were ready to exit the car into a shallow ditch next to us. Then I would have at least had the means to defend my family. Without a firearm I would have been totally defenseless. Luckily they sat there on the off ramp for about another minute and got back on the freeway, never to be seen again.
Yes I am pro guns, and have shot since I was 7 years old and never shot anyone, but luckily I did not have to in this situation.
Same age as you, been shooting since I was 8, and will always be armed just in case. What did you make of that near encounter? Sounds like a case of mistaken identity that fortunately resolved itself without anyone getting hurt or worse. What say you?

@@Babymommalove Wrong. You don't go to jail if you have a carry permit. If you don't have a carry permit,, the weapon has to be secured away from the ammunition. In a car this means one in the trunk and the other in a case or transported in the passenger area. You expect me to believe this BS story that he sat in the driver seat while his wife exited the passenger seat, unbuckled the kids, retrieved either the firearms or the ammunition from the trunk which at that time would require a key, sat back in the passenger seat, and proceeded to load both firearms. At that point she was breaking the law. I taught women to shoot. Only one had the physical strength to rack the slide on a 45 acp. She was a former college athlete.
There needs to be more stars like Mr Russell who aren't afraid to speak out and call bullshit.

@rickglores: Many years ago, most Hollywood actors were democrats but the democrats 80+ years ago were a conservative party.
Most eligible male actors were in the military during WWII. Some made training films for the military while others actually fought in combat units. Jimmy Stewart flew B-17s in the ETO over Germany. Not just once or twice, but 27 missions, I believe.
My dad and his two brothers were all democrats. My dad served in the Army, S. Pacific, his younger brother, was a Pathfinder, C/1/507th PIR (D day) his youngest brother was a Gunner on a B-26 over Germany. Both were wounded and weren't anti firearms.
I was a Democrat too until they started their anti 2A BS 35+ years ago. But now they are who they are! Acting is a "liberal art", emphasis on liberal, literally!

I must agree with Kurt Russell, if guns are taken away, people without guns become sitting ducks. When it comes to gun control, I will say that some people shouldn’t have them. I personally will never give up my guns…I owe protection to my family and those that don’t have the ability to defend themselves.
The reason for the 2 amendment in the wisdom of the founding fathers was to create free men, and to preserve their liberty in the face of a potential government of tyranny .One must bear in mind they were descendants from people of the British Isles that had known for centuries the tyranny of lords and kings in that particular environment only the lords and their men were armed, no surf or peasants had arms, if they did they were outlawed . So I would say to an American " Want do you want serfdom or liberty? "

I met Kurt Russell in Chicago the early 80's in old town. Goldie hawn was filming the wildcats and we talked several times as he was renting the house next door to a rehab I was working on. A very nice man
