I like that you cut straight to the point but also cover most of the steps needed to get the fix done unlike a lot of those other channels that spend 15 minutes explaining nothing.
But a quick question: once you've fixed the line, do you still need to vacuum the line before refilling with freon?

@missgearhead good luck welding a thin aluminum AC line. and yes, it was rubbing, so I bent the lines and assembly so it didn't rub any more. I cut the lines with a tubing cutter if you really want to know. The lines had notches in them from the factory.

@CornerStoneBullys fun time taking the dash apart figuring what's wrong inside. A rat's nest of wires and vacuum lines. BUT, first check all over under the hood and the dash for vacuum lines that may have fallen off, as vacuum pressure does activate much of the vent system. Scotty

TIG weld would be the proper way and with an adjustable arc, it can be done. Granted the splice kit is cheaper but Missgearhead has a point about clearance issues, either cut the rad support or bend the lines more to compensate. nice trick though, i would have never thought of it. Wonder if a Plumbing compression fitting would work also, as they hold 150+ PSI. they are also smaller but made of brass. Scott, as a part time mechanic, i love the videos!!!

Cool, didn't realize your from New Hampshire. That's near or not far from Weir's Beach if I'm not mistaken, haven't been up since 2010 when my summer Camper that was only 5 year's and 2 months old was Flooded up off Route 25 in Plymouth, not fun. But still have family up their. Camped there since 1971. Also I'm looking on how long to replace a AC Compressor, bought a 2010 CR-V and found out I was lied to and they also covered up body damage, bought from a smaller Dealership, they bought it from a wholesale price from the trade-in, They gave me the one owner INFORMATION and Title, so I looked up name and listed in phone book, so I called to find out that this was involved in 2 accident's and last wasn't reported, 1st the dealer I nought it from said no accident's at all. I asked and now i talked to a lawyer, they told me to get them to state it again because original owner told me that she bumped a wall with passenger door and I asked who put the stripe on the vehicle and they said there was no strikes on the vehicle. So I looked and at very close up, you can barely see the work done, then I found the tape over the vin# tag, they want me to drop to have them fix AC Compressor, I've replaced them in less than one hour but just compressor only, that's all their willing to replace and not new but used which I stated their known to fail on these, new cost less than $300 or Reman just $225 but no warranty if I don't replace it all that's subjected. By the book, it calls for checking AC and then replacing Compressor and filling it up with refrigerant. That should take 8 hours, no way just on Compressor and filling it up. There just gonna get it to work and send me on my way. Anyone have any ideas, my lawyer said if they lie, then I can get my money back on damage that's covered up but not structure damage, just the door only. Also the hatch was replaced and filed threw 2 different INSURANCE COMPANIES and no nothing on carfax. I wouldn't have spent as much as I did because of it. Plus the door that Dealership had fixed quickly and not by a professional now, it's only 8 years old and sat for 6 months before it sold. They wanted to much money, they came down $500 at 4 different times and seen it and seen new #, called it to get the owner and not Manager. He took my offer of $500 less than he had it for which was his lowest, I walked away from 1 for $600 less and nicer plus and EX-L MODEL over than the EX which is nice also. Just no leather or heated seats but this drove the best over 5 different ones. I can get my money back or ask for $1000 to $1500 back since it's not worth as much plus they defrauded me on lying about the damages. Anyone have been threw this at all and what's the best out come. I know all states are different. It's not small claims court from what the lawyer stated. I also have proof from original owner and they are pretty mad since they got dirt for it compared to what I paid. $7000 difference and super well maintained by and older women that retired just 3 years ago. So got a cherry of a nice vehicle besides what I know.

Have a cut in my rear a/C line was wondering if a splice would work on a 2013 hylander. Part cost was estimated 986.00 at dealership other places as “low” as 746. Total cost nearly 1800. Not Looking to replace line, but repair it is high pressure line according to Toyota dealership. Looking for other avenues Toyota dealership suggested private air conditioning place to do work. Looking for ideas on a proper solution that’s economic feasible.

my 2005 Honda odyssey with rear ac, blew a tiny hole in the line near the back wheel. the line is HUGE in length and diameter. It's 9/16". And the kits do not exist. I measured with a caliper and got .565", and a 9/16" wrench fit perfect on the tubing. The tube is about 6' long or more under belly of van. I need to go on a trip in a few days and would like to splice and vac/recharge... replacing the line is a beast! DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A 9/16" FITTING KIT LIKE YOU ARE SHOWING HERE? My high pressure line got chaffed enough to create a leak. It's a metal line. I'm going to try to repair it with some high temperature/high pressure metal epoxy because it's in a spot that's curved so a straight line fix like yours wouldn't work. Since all the fluid leaked out and the pressure is zero then that means there's regular air in the line and of course Houston moisture. After I patch it up is there a special procedure to refill the R134a that lets out the air+moisture? Or should I just not worry about it. Or should I take it to an AC shop and let them do the refill procedure after I fix the line? Any tips appreciated, about to attempt this in the next couple of days.

The-Mike_D what happened to the repair you did...what did you end up doing and has it been working good?

Great information but, if the frame was close enough to rub the tube without all that extra hardware making it much thicker....how did you get the condenser to fit without re-locating the mounts?

just a quick question, do you think it's possible to splice the rear ac lines going to the rear ac evaporator in my 2006 jeep commander?
