    Don't set the hook right away let them flounder eat it. They will initially bite then chew on it a bit. I know a guy who counts down from 10. With the initial.bite he lets a lil line out, counts down, reels in the slack and then sets the hook. He uses a 3/4 oz gulp jig head, or smaller, with the gulp products. He even uses crappie jig heads to catch 20"+. Patience with flounder, good luck. Looking forward to next vid.

      Thanks for the info! A lot of people have been saying time to let them eat, all 10 sec or over. I will surely try this next time and flip the bail open when I get the flounder's interest. I feel like this will def help out. Maybe I can pull in a keeper?! Thanks for the help and support!

      Was a pleasant surprise for this subscriber to run into ya at the pier. Did you guys get a flounder? Water had a lot of movement and vegetation. 1 croaker for me and a nice skate, while hubby had a nice ray until it went under the dock and frayed the line, eventually getting away. Mostly lil dinks. Did u see the young gal who caught the huge ray (30 lber), her dad reeled it in. Looking forward to more awesome vids from ya.

    Nice! Grew up fishing that spot. Accumulated a handful of trespassing to fish tickets over the years there but worth it lmao. That cut holds big specs and schoolie striper in the early fall aswell as puppy drum. Weeding through small founder is a bitch because they continue to bite after they've been caught.

      Haha! Thanks for your support! Yea, plenty of little ones with a good variety of fish. Guy caught a 30 inch striper while I was there and damn near killed it.

    I fish there all the time. I take a John boat directly across from where you were fishing. My buddy and I tend to use a popping corks and minnows, to save money on jig heads. But we do use the Berkeley gulps as well. That spot is money for founders.

      I hear ya man! You've prolly motor'd past me a few times haha! I think I learn the snags, go back and its a whole new group of em. I run the corks a lot too. Since no depth reader, I mostly use em for trout with the occasional flounder, drum, etc. Maybe see ya out there sometime. Just look for the Asian guy with a gopro, not catchin shit. Haha

      Right! Lol, I went a few days ago and caught nothing but croaker on em. Not 1 trout, bluefish, flounder, drum, nothing lol

    When you dont get a successful hook set stop reeling and wait a couple seconds then very slowly start jigging again. Alot of times they will go right back up and take it.

    • @ZackBostick
      @ZackBostick  5 років тому

      Thanks for the info! I will have to calm down and get some patience lol! Makes sense, have also been told to wait anywhere from 10-15 sec for them to eat it, then set. Could use both tactics and hopefully get some fish!! Thanks again Nick!

    Where exactly where you at bro I’m trying to go to Rudee inlet when I go home tommrow

    • @ZackBostick
      @ZackBostick  5 років тому

      Pretty much at the very end of Virginia Beach. If you are on the strip, take it all the way down (heading away from the state park and lynnhaven) and it will bring you to a round about. Parking is there and you cant miss it. You can run into it but can't miss it. I would give street names but I just put in Virginia Beach Pier and keep on going down.

      Zack Bostick Hey man, I’m kind of new to saltwater fishing and the Hampton Roads area as well. Could you let me know the best spots for fishing? I just went to the Sandbridge pier this past weekend and caught some Blues (I think) but the place was just too crowded by brother in law actually got hooked up on his arm. I want to catch mackerels, flounders and stripers as well, if I miss any other good eating fish. I just heard about Rudee inlet but unsure what spots since one of the comments mentioned about trespassing. Thanks ahead man.

    • @ZackBostick
      @ZackBostick  5 років тому

      Sandbridge is a gotcha plug to the face, waiting to happen. But trust me, just because the end gets too packed does not mean they wont hit on the pier closer to shore. But Va beach pier is doing pretty good on the mackerel, and it is much longer. Rudee inlet is fine, just dont fish on the pylons like I did. There is plenty more areas to fish at the inlet that are 100% legal. Best spots are hard to say, it really depends on what you are targeting. But Rudee had been packed with flounder. Give it a go and let me know how ya do man.

      @@rickyallaroundfisherman9389 Damn man. I usually find the parking has been ok in that lot right beside the bridge. Think it was like 7 bucks all day. Or the meter thing that is like 6 bucks for 3 hours or some horse crap. I try to go on weekdays so parking isnt as much of an issue. Did yall end up being able to fish?
