    What I like most about tfbtv's shot show 2023 interviews with Louis from Holosun, is how knowledgeable Louis is. He KNOWS his products inside and out, front to back. I love how Holosun didn't hire "eye candy" to debut their new products, they sent the subject matter expert. Bravo Holosun.

    I was totally sold on this at last year's Shot Show when they showed the SCS on an HK VP9. I'm not sure why they promoted that model since it never became available, but it seems like a bad sign that they're making these for rifles now without also expanding the line for increased handgun compatibility.

    entire sporting rifles market to look at but currently only way to mimic 1" low ring scope height and eye alignment is with a 407c/507c with rail mount on low weaver/pic typical 1-3 slot or rails bases that come on rifles, I have 3 set up this way, would love to move to the solar charging capacitor enclosed set up but looking at measurements this scrs would require custom low profile bases that will directly screw down to the receivers of sporting rifles/leverguns in order to keep cheek/eye alignments proper...so build the 407c/507c with this tech and enclose them and I'll stop bitching on UA-cam about them and keep pimping holosun options on the hunting forums for all of us loving this tech and missing the iron sights options but also aging eyes and other benefits make these battery free red dots awesome for sporting applications, keep em coming holosun, this tech will hopefully end up in scope reticles at some point, love my trijicon accupoints on my scoped sporting rifles but this tech would be smaller and lighter yet to illuminate that center dot, the future is bright, now need custom bases for sporting rifles, who's gonna jump in that game so we can use scrs? ;)

    • @buddermonger2000
      @buddermonger2000 Рік тому

      Yeah to compare to something else, it's like those twin power scientific calculators you buy for $10 at staples in a bin but for a red dot. You'll just never need it outside of outside force breaking the optic. At which point it'll need to be replaced or serviced with the company regardless.

    I have mixed feelings about this specific optic. Love holosun but honestly I think I'd rather just swap a battery every yr like I do now. But I swear if they ever decided to make an lpvo... It would be over. Can't wait to see the thermal optic in person

    • @buddermonger2000
      @buddermonger2000 Рік тому

      I think here's something to think about: the only way to have to even need to think about charging it is in the incredibly impractical situation where you're in a dark cave having it constantly on for 2 and a half years. For all practical purposes, you'll never have to charge it. Even having it in a room while it's off just having it around will charge the optic.

    Still we don't know if it's a chemical battery or capacitor. I mean, even our solar gshocks need battery replaced 10, 15 years tops, but maybe less if the battery is drained several times. Not being able to replace the battery yourself I think its an important point.

    • @nikik5567
      @nikik5567 Рік тому

      @@kilroy5166 no but the 510 has a battery that I can replace. I don’t like the idea of trusting my red dots to power sources that can die early on me when I’m trying to use them. I don’t own a scs for the exact same reason. And I suspect that’s why a decent number of people haven’t bought a scs either. The idea that the thing could die at any moment cuz it didn’t regulate itself properly or there hasn’t been enough sunlight recently to charge it up isn’t a comforting thing. Nah, I’ll stick with normal battery powered red dots like the rest of the world. Batteries aren’t even a big deal. U buy a twenty pack for like 40 bucks then ur set for life.

    Okay.. so the actual use/expenditure here are a little opaque.. but say that 50 hours of charging time state gives you that 20k hr..
    One hour would give you 400 hours of use..
    So 3.6 minutes of light would last you an entire day. For a gun that actually gets used, that's more than reasonable. For my purposes that would work very well.
    That said, I do feel this method does need some way to speed charge other than getting light.. so that a person could "plug in" for a couple minutes every 6 months or so and KNOW that you are G2G for a couple years.
    we'll see how it holds up. GREAT concept though
