I think this video has the best Seth reactions of any Goldfish video I've seen, his 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' in response to the surgical extraction had me in tears
at 55:40, you don't need complex calculations to see that shuffling back in the Kozilek improves your chances. You just compare the "density" of hits in the deck versus what you shuffle back in. For the cards being shuffled back in, you have 1/3 hits, in your deck you have 12/50. 1/3=33.33%>12/50=24%, so you are better off shuffling in.
twistedshananigans I agree. I just got to the 8rack game 1 and can't believe this. Outside of unexpected results off the top, what draw makes this hand keepable compared to any hand with lands and unexpected results. And keeping these hands with all of your "hits" in hand and no actual wincon drove me crazy lol.
Love the first ruling for the card in Gatherer. "If you reveal a nonland card the first time Jadelight Ranger explores and leave it on top of your library, you’ll reveal the same card the second time it explores. If you don’t pretend to be surprised, you’ll hurt Jadelight Ranger’s feelings."
I’d love to see this deck developed some way. Especially with Blast of Genius. The Blast of Genius wins were hilarious. Hell a Blast of Genius against the odds would be hilarious.
Yesssssss! When you pulled out the calculator - I love this deck. Blast of Genius seems like a good build-around in an Izzet deck, maybe? I mean, by "good" I mean... y'know.
nate sanchez same all these ideas coming into my head lol! I was thinking pyromancers goggles into this, or maybe some sort of finisher in the izzet taking turns deck.
Cool video man also nice to see that new kozilek was included in the deck it is one of my favorite cards, i recently made a deck based around him and the old kozilek that uses rituals, geosurge and sol ring to get him out early (generally turn 3 or 4) and then I refill my hand and repeat I wish you could try it out
I loved this deck! In fact, I also loved Miracles and Teferi Pool... Maybe you could do a series where you replay people favorites decks! Because I'm sure a lot of people would agree this is one of the most entertaining deck to watch!!
Opponent punted at 19:30. He drew a thoughtseize earlier in the game with Bob, which he should have cast after seeing your Summoning Trap. That way you were obliged to cast it in response to the seize and he could have edicted your emrakul (or other) with the Liliana.
Maybe Firespout in the sideboard instead of Anger of the Gods, as it's easier on the mana? There weren't many times were you had double red early with this deck, so it might be better.
Paused the video at 3 minutes just to say, “ I love this deck!” *In hindsight* not a deck I would personally invest in, but it is fun to watch this deck succeed!
Probably because there’s only two red mana sources. Also if your hand is full of titans you can dump them all if you have or hit omniscience with unexpected results. Not that I’m against the idea but I feel with that idea it should be a different deck entirely with no tron lands.
Austin Tanner Breach is better I think because it doesn't rot in your hand if you draw it, it only needs one red source which is easy to get thanks to Elder and Map amd Duals. Omniscience is triple blue and essentially is a dead card if you draw it. Plus, as you can see, your hand is almost always full of some amount of titans due to the sheer number in the deck, which makes Breach better. Also, Breach off Unexpected Results is fine too, since it gets a titan onto the battlefield and out of your hand, as well as putting the Breach and titan back in the deck (provided its an OG titan)
I've been playing around with this deck since the deck test. I cut 3 genius for 3 through the breach it helps get those Lord's out of your hand and gives you better odds when you spin the wheel to land an eldrazi as one is almost always in your hand
Is this the most fair Tron deck ever built? It just may be with all the variance that goes into actually winning with it. Either way it was a blast to watch you play this deck Seth. Thank you for providing such great content. I look forward to all of your Modern content every week. I also watch all of your non-standard deck techs, and in between you uploading videos I am watching old Rough Drafts, Against the Odds, Commander Clashes (except for episodes without you Seth, I find those much less entertaining), and pretty much all of the old MTG Goldfish content. You make my overnight job go by much quicker, and give me a way to ignore my amazingly annoying co-worker who never shuts the fuck up. Take care man, and thanks again.
Omniscience for All is Dust ? And since unexpected results suffles, why not ancient stirrings to thin the seck more ? It kinda also synergizes with blast of genius, for digging purposes.
My one question is: why are these shocklands and not filter lands? It seemed in these games that the lifeloss was a liability, and with no fetch lands the shocklands lose a lot of their allure. And the ability to filter colorless into UU, RR, GG, or any combination of these seems rather helpful.
I would consider running 1 Kessig Wolf Run in this deck. In the late game it can make the Eldrazis force through chumpblocking and it can even turn an attack from a Sakura Tribe Elder into an finisher. Not to mention you can fetch it with an Expedition Map.
Why not switch out 2 of the promised end and some of the great distorions for 2 karns and 1 ugin so you have a mid range pay off with a complete tron lands
oh for the video for sure but I mean as a competitive tournament deck. You still have the unexpected results and all I'm just thinking if I picked this up for FNM that would make it more consistent but still retain the same kind of flavor. Or do you think there is something I'm not seeing that would make it better as is?
Kabil M I think it's still cool to add some karns and ugins, since you are still trying to win high-rolling the unexpected. You're not quite regularTron deck, since you miss a lot of cards that make your Tron-assembling consistent.
I don't like it, they don't synergies with blast and don't work as well with results. Of course they make the deck better because they are just great with Tron.
game one against 8 rack "this hand has two tron pieces" I.E. two power plants. do you think the signets should be talismans so you can tap them for mana without having to have lands? might help against land destruction decks.
You should replace the omniscience with Jace, you can setup the combo with his brainstorm ability or dig for particular pieces or answers. Fun deck though, seth!!
I played this deck for a while after you posted. I probably only won when I got to enough mana with Tron, not unexpected results :/ almost every time I cast unexpected it just didn't work
When you did the calculation in Match 5, were you considering both lands and non-eldrazi and misses? There's a case to be argued that lands aren't quite as bed as non-eldrazi spells, since you keep the unexpected results. You would then treat the sample size as the total number of spells rather than the total number of cards. The truth is probably somewhere in between though.
Yeah, I just did the simple calculation (Eldrazi hits, everything else misses). You are right though, there's probably a more exact way of doing it too.
Hey Seth, I was curious about something. Would you record a tier deck stream a few times a year? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how to pilot some of the tier decks, and watching you pilot tier UW control (for example) of some sort in a competitive league would be fun. I think you'd have lots to teach people who want to break into competitive modern. You could do a once a month show, have viewers vote for the next month, etc. I know you do lots already, but I bet you would get lots of views! Do not stop doing brews for that style full time, though!
lol - that game against thopter foundry; my friend plays tooth and nail, wherein he specifically runs promised end instead of aeons torn, because new mama has trample to hit through thopters.
I think the omisciance slots would be great as just maindecking the summoning traps. If ya hit it on unexpected it's still great, and if ya are a bit short of Mana you can still play them unlike omisciance. Maybe get surgical extraction in the sideboard just to nuke all thoughtsieze on upkeeps
Just wondering... If we cut unexpected results for the last 2 copies of blast of genius and summoning trap, and cut omniscience for prime titan... would we have an actual deck?
I was thinking of this last night perks of insomnia. You can play it like it breech play blood moons, emerkiuls and redgear hulks. Boom/bust also seems cool in this deck as well as any other interesting fuse and old ravnica cards. Personally I really want to see someone get got by red gear hulk for 30
This deck really needs something that can let you look at the top of your deck. Lantern of Insight maybe? Added benefit that it might tilt out your opponent game 1 if you start with it. Or maybe just one of the blue cards that allow you to order your deck, turn 1 Index would allow you to put the big Eldrazi 3rd from the top so it'll be on top when you cast Unexpected Results.
I think See Beyond would be a decent card for this build. It draws 2 and you get to shuffle a card from your hand into your library for 1U. I can't think of any other modern draw cards that let you shuffle cards from your hand into your library.
Ponder lets you shuffle your library, you can't put cards from your hand back in. See Beyond let's you put an Eldrazi from your hand into your deck while drawing 2 cards.
I wonder if cutting Blast of Genius and just playing stuff you can cast is better. What nice is blast draws cards and can also be used as removal. I don't think the plan of actually killing your opponent is reliable enough since this deck doesn't apply other pressure, and some decks to hurt themselves much.
So the deck was...unexpectedly...sweet. We could try to tune it up and take it for another spin. Omniscience is not necessary, it could be replaced with some kind of removal or more ramp/draw. The sideboard plans of having extra ways to cheat things out can be taken out and could have Anger/Pyroclasm for removal, and also Kitchen Finks and Thragtusks for lifegain. Maybe instead of going full Eldrazi Titans, we could use a few normal Tron things, like Karn and Ugin primarily. Then you could still Unexpected Results into something huge while having things you can cast. Sometimes you had Tron or enough ramp to have mana for Karn/Ugin, but you had titans that you couldn't cast. Lastly, fourth Blast Of Genius gives more draw and ways to finish the opponent. We can make this work!
Isn't Sylvan Scrying better than Explore in this deck? Also, is there any way this deck could work in four colors so Bring to Light could double the chances of spinning the wheel (and use leyline of the sanctity)?
Am I missing somethin? There was a game when you had opponent at 10 life and you played Blast of Genius discarding Omniscience dealing 8, but you had a Kozilek in hand that could have dealt lethal. Or am I misunderstanding Blast of Genius?
At 24:30... that awkward moment when you get a free win because you did something that would have been pretty threatening coming from a real deck, but your opponent still hasn't realized your deck totally sucks.
unexpected results might be good in a mono 6-drop type shell (sunbird's invocation) rather than a tron deck. Tron has a lot of 1-2 drops which are big fat misses for unexpected results, whereas the core of a sunbirds invocation deck is 6 drops and ramp, which aren't quite eldrazi, but are still decent value
This deck needs some fine tuning, maybe a Jace and leylines, but I played something very similar with Unexpected results and Blast of Genius in standard.
Can you modify this deck with some bloodbraidelfes and some firebird invocations. Looks double fun if u hit because unexpectet says cast it. You should easy go through your deck. xD
I think maybe the dictates are to help you against decks that can't really use extra mana. Modern is a lean format and many decks like burn, affinity, and death's shadow can't really use extra mana since they dump their hands so fast.
(57:20) The deck is pretty good. And at least it beats some top tier decks with a relatively good probability (better than some of your other bad (like Small Japanese Tournament budget mono blue mill) and/or janky deck.]
This seems like one of the best hearthstone decks in mtg
ThatGuyFromCanada lol right?
What is it?
That scream when he surgical'd your tower... rip ears
That was so brutal though.
At what time?
Luke Roy 27:24
Unless I’m missing something I don’t think it mattered, as he would have only had 9 mana, right?
Sick rub ins
I think this video has the best Seth reactions of any Goldfish video I've seen, his 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' in response to the surgical extraction had me in tears
Unexpected Results is my favorite card! I had a janky deck with it when it was in standard comboing with Blast of Genius and Worldspine Wurm :)
27:24 The TILT!!! Love it!!! You're awesome Seth!!
at 55:40, you don't need complex calculations to see that shuffling back in the Kozilek improves your chances. You just compare the "density" of hits in the deck versus what you shuffle back in. For the cards being shuffled back in, you have 1/3 hits, in your deck you have 12/50. 1/3=33.33%>12/50=24%, so you are better off shuffling in.
This deck could use a red gearhulk
Happily chubby flygon I like this for memes. Also needs through the breach
It may also really needs a way to shuffle back in. I don't know if there is such way in modern.
Elixir of Immortality is probably the best one
Cérulien Céruléen The Eldrazi shuffle back in
From the yard, not the hand.
The hands that you deem keepable literally make me want to scream lol
twistedshananigans but do you want to scream OOOOOOHHHHHH IT'S AN EMMRAAAAKUUUUULLLLL
I don't even think any hand from this deck is keepable.
Kyle Hart you need ramp and results in hand. Otherwise you cry or settle for just results
twistedshananigans I agree. I just got to the 8rack game 1 and can't believe this. Outside of unexpected results off the top, what draw makes this hand keepable compared to any hand with lands and unexpected results. And keeping these hands with all of your "hits" in hand and no actual wincon drove me crazy lol.
Lol Bertoncini our way through this turn. Did you see the dude on reddit who got him to sign his Jadelight Ranger?
Carter he didn’t even Bertoncini right he’s supposed to draw 3 cards total
Jadelight Ranger signing sounds about right.
Where was this in the video the betoncini our way through this turn
Love the first ruling for the card in Gatherer.
"If you reveal a nonland card the first time Jadelight Ranger explores and leave it on top of your library, you’ll reveal the same card the second time it explores. If you don’t pretend to be surprised, you’ll hurt Jadelight Ranger’s feelings."
I’d love to see this deck developed some way. Especially with Blast of Genius. The Blast of Genius wins were hilarious. Hell a Blast of Genius against the odds would be hilarious.
the amount of information and the speed of the media you produce is good at strengthening pattern recognition
Game starts at 3:34
The fact that this ran as well as it did I think proves the concept, and this deck can be improved A LOT.
Yesssssss! When you pulled out the calculator - I love this deck. Blast of Genius seems like a good build-around in an Izzet deck, maybe? I mean, by "good" I mean... y'know.
Why don't you add All is Dust/O Stone in the SB and Karn Liberated instead of Omniscience. I do like the idea of Primeval Titan
though too.
Foreshadowing “that’s how we got wrecked against deaths shadow”. Spoiler alert! Geez 21:24
The only thin I’ve realized about this deck is how badly I want to brew blast of genius
That was my take away too.
nate sanchez same all these ideas coming into my head lol!

Samuel Dionne some one has been watching MTG aids 😂
Paused the video at 3 minutes just to say, “ I love this deck!”
*In hindsight* not a deck I would personally invest in, but it is fun to watch this deck succeed!
instead of omniscience why not breach? and more genius
That's... actually brilliant.
john rivera that's
...
Genius
Probably because there’s only two red mana sources.
Also if your hand is full of titans you can dump them all if you have or hit omniscience with unexpected results.

When you have means to grab those 2 red sources your deck has more than 2 sources. And you already win without dumping 3 eldrazi in one turn
14:10 tears of joy 😭😭😭😭
Through the breach maybe? Thirst for knowledge for card advantage and a way to discard eldrazi?
I've been playing around with this deck since the deck test. I cut 3 genius for 3 through the breach it helps get those Lord's out of your hand and gives you better odds when you spin the wheel to land an eldrazi as one is almost always in your hand
What about making a soft lantern controldeck and putting in emrakul and unaspected results?
Is this the most fair Tron deck ever built? It just may be with all the variance that goes into actually winning with it. Either way it was a blast to watch you play this deck Seth. "Our opponent just beat us at their own game. They spun the bloodbaid wheel-"
me: "what"
I wonder if JTMS would help with the consistency issue. It also allows you to know what is on top of your library. Maybe replace omniscience for JTMS.
Stephen Housman results shuffles before it flips
dwarvenvow7 True but can still help the consistency issues.
Omniscience for All is Dust ?
And since unexpected results suffles, why not ancient stirrings to thin the seck more ? It kinda also synergizes with blast of genius, for digging purposes.
Bertoncini our way through this turn 😂😂😂
the "nooooooooooo" at 27:25 is better than darth vader's nooo at the end of revenge of the sith lol
"We did it! We just have to get luck"-Seth 2018
Too true

See Beyond to shuffle eldrazi back in and draw more action?
I played this deck for a while after you posted. I probably only won when I got to enough mana with Tron, not unexpected results :/ almost every time I cast unexpected it just didn't work
R.I.P headphone users 27:23 lel
Wouldnt a tooth and nail and maybe a Torrential Gearhulk work? Casts result multiple times and tooth gets you there
Never stop the much abrew :D
When you did the calculation in Match 5, were you considering both lands and non-eldrazi and misses? There's a case to be argued that lands aren't quite as bed as non-eldrazi spells, since you keep the unexpected results. Yeah, I just did the simple calculation (Eldrazi hits, everything else misses). You are right though, there's probably a more exact way of doing it too.
Would reason to believe be more effective? It costs more but you can sequence your plays and it's not as random.
not being able to cast it is a big letdown
"Our opponent is not thopping." Thopping is my new favorite word.
Why not splash a little more red and put in Faithless Looting to help trade your Eldrazi stuck in hand for more action?
i used to play a deck like this when RtR was standard is was a real fun deck to play i miss that dumb deck
jessey vellinga what did you try to flip into?
I think you need Jace or some brainstorm effect to put back an Eldrazi on top of your library before casting unexpected results.
So serious question. Searing blaze should only do its damage if it resolves from hitting the minion right?
Seth, you should play the shadowborn apostle/blue hideaway land/surgical extraction combo deck!
play this again, but improved!!!
Hey Seth, I was curious about something. Would you record a tier deck stream a few times a year? Have you ever considered Nahiri's Wrath in the deck?
I realy hope you tune this deck and revisit it in a stream.
lol - that game against thopter foundry; my friend plays tooth and nail, wherein he specifically runs promised end instead of aeons torn, because new mama has trample to hit through thopters.
Hearing Saffron Olive while he plays this deck is hilarious. He's easily my favorite livestreamer.
I can’t help but feel like this deck would like some way to get rid of the eldrazi in the hand and put them back in the deck
Jace, probably. I think the idea is that Blast of Genius is our budget Jace (for getting Eldrazi from hand), but actual Jace could be helpful.
How about upping the summoner trap count and maybe addin a breach in there somewhere?
Both of those ideas make sense.
Totally worth the wait. Deck was sweeeet
Omg lol! I never laughted so loud watching you play
This one needs to be brewed further and streamed.
Will you work with this build in the future?
Perhaps :)
What happen if you put change Omniscience for some token producers like Drowner of Hope, Desolation Twin or just put the Wurmcoil Engine?
That scream at 14:10 is actually extremely beautiful.
Edit: Also may be my text tone soon.
Serum visions. Why is it not in the beck
Just wondering... If we cut unexpected results for the last 2 copies of blast of genius and summoning trap, and cut omniscience for prime titan... would we have an actual deck?
Those would be pretty good steps in the right direction.
blast of genius is such a fun card lol
maybe build a much abrew with blast and riddle of lightning
what about trying UR tron with blast of genius?
Game 3 vs Jund couldn't you have played promised end and saved the day?
I wish we would get to see omniscience in action :C
Awesome video though, I just love your channel. Keep it up!
Is there a way to make a blast of genius modern deck? Seems like blast +15 cmc is a better win con than results
You can play blast of genius plus the redgearhulk and maybe theres some other cards that work like blast I don't know about
Blast was sooo good. I sort of want to build a Blast deck now.
I was thinking of this last night perks of insomnia. You can play it like it breech play blood moons, emerkiuls and redgear hulks. Boom/bust also seems cool in this deck as well as any other interesting fuse and old ravnica cards. Personally I really want to see someone get got by red gear hulk for 30
😍 this deck is awesome
thx for playing it
This deck really needs something that can let you look at the top of your deck.
Lapisrabbit Comics ponder?
Ponder lets you shuffle your library, you can't put cards from your hand back in. See Beyond let's you put an Eldrazi from your hand into your deck while drawing 2 cards.
@ Saffron Olive, This could be a cool deck to add bring to light to? That way you can bring to light for unexpected results, and get copies 5-8.
Sideboarding in this deck reminds me of zombie hunt where it just always feels bad no matter what you bring in
I wonder if cutting Blast of Genius and just playing stuff you can cast is better. What nice is blast draws cards and can also be used as removal. I don't think the plan of actually killing your opponent is reliable enough since this deck doesn't apply other pressure, and some decks to hurt themselves much.

Then you could still Unexpected Results into something huge while having things you can cast. We can make this work!
Isn't Sylvan Scrying better than Explore in this deck? Also, is there any way this deck could work in four colors so Bring to Light could double the chances of spinning the wheel (and use leyline of the sanctity)?
Sylvan Scrying would make setting up Tron most consistent.
Am I missing somethin? There was a game when you had opponent at 10 life and you played Blast of Genius discarding Omniscience dealing 8, but you had a Kozilek in hand that could have dealt lethal. Or am I misunderstanding Blast of Genius?
Omniscience is also 10 CMC, the opponent was a 12 so we were a couple of damage short no matter what we discarded.
definitely an against the odds deck!
At 24:30... that awkward moment when you get a free win because you did something that would have been pretty threatening coming from a real deck, but your opponent still hasn't realized your deck totally sucks.
unexpected results might be good in a mono 6-drop type shell (sunbird's invocation) rather than a tron deck. Tron has a lot of 1-2 drops which are big fat misses for unexpected results, whereas the core of a sunbirds invocation deck is 6 drops and ramp, which aren't quite eldrazi, but are still decent value
A guy at my LGS built what I'm calling Panharmoni-Tron, which made me think of Seth. Millions of Myr tokens off his Battlespheres.
This deck needs some fine tuning, maybe a Jace and leylines, but I played something very similar with Unexpected results and Blast of Genius in standard.
"Boy that's a stretch"
Gets the missing tron piece
You need to do Tezzeret tribal
I’d call this deck unexpected blast. Blast of genius is the sleeper hit of the deck
Yeah, the sneaky best card in the deck.
Maybe this deck would have more legs as a Blast of Genius deck instead of a Unexpected Results, with Through the Breach probably.
Can you modify this deck with some bloodbraidelfes and some firebird invocations.
Looks double fun if u hit because unexpectet says cast it. You should easy go through your deck. xD
why wasnt unexpected results going back to your hand?
buck sowell It only returns if you hit a land
It is so unbelievable that this clown deck won a game. I love it.
Thanks MTGGoldfish!
can you run brainstorm to put eldrazi in your hand on top?
Unexpected results shuffles your library.
that sucks.
but wouldnt it still be good for the Blast of Genius and you could put your eldrazi back in your deck for a better chance at results?
Tyler Phillips Brainstorm was never printed in a Modern legal set.
none of the masters sets are modern legal?
Tyler Phillips a card has to go through standard to be modern legal.
I'd consider leylines in the board even if you cant cast em due to discard
I think maybe the dictates are to help you against decks that can't really use extra mana. Modern is a lean format and many decks like burn, affinity, and death's shadow can't really use extra mana since they dump their hands so fast.
Why wouldn’t the deck play brainstorm ? I don’t really see how it’s bad
(57:20) The deck is pretty good. And at least it beats some top tier decks with a relatively good probability (better than some of your other bad (like Small Japanese Tournament budget mono blue mill) and/or janky deck.]
