For a real treat, make sure to check out on UA-cam Olivia’s impromptu song with Les Paul and his trio from 2007. She gets up on stage, they take a few minutes to decide on a song, then, without any warm up, she completely slays “Over the Rainbow.”

Olivia's version of Banks of the Ohio is far and away the best version of that song. Speaking as an inhabitant of both countries, only an Australian could have turned out that version and made a success of it. Thank you Olivia for giving the world that version of such a classic song. I became a fan of hers after hearing that way back in the 70s.

    Thank you, Otis!
Always good to hear good things from those folks that worked with big names. Alison comes across and gracious as Olivia.

What a wonderful story and beautifully told! I met her at a cocktail party a dozen years ago in Palm Beach, and she was so lovely. I had always hoped I would meet her backstage one day after a concert. I never thought I would have an audience with her (and her new husband, John) for about twenty minutes. Just the 3 of us, a once-in-a-lifetime experience! She was so lovely and normal, like talking to a neighbor. I asked her questions and she just kept turning the conversation back to me. It was clear she didn't want to talk about herself and she genuinely wanted to know about me. At one point I asked her where she would be performing next and she had absolutely no idea! She looked to John and he shrugged his shoulders! It will always be one of my most cherished memories!

I love the touring musician's perspective about the stars they worked with but their perspective in general as well.

    Great video, Otis.
Olivia Newton-John is part of my childhood. My two older sisters were huge fans of her and "Grease" and I heard a lot of that music when I was 8-9 years old. I'm a fan, too.

Alison! I saw her play with The Zmed Brothers in Greeneville, TN in December, shared a bowl of soup and talked about how much Nashville had changed since the 80's. Great tone, great player!!

    Hi Otis,
I’ve been a subscriber enjoying your channel for some months now. I must compliment you on the production quality of your videos!
Aside from the great content, the lighting, framing and most importantly the audio is just great!!!
Its just great for this 40+ years gigging, tinnitus suffering guitarist, to be able to easily understand every word!!!
And I know these things don’t happen by accident.
Kudos to you! Keep up the great work and Thank You!!!
    Aloha from Hawaii,
    Kevin

I saw Olivia newton john after grease came out. I loved Greese and Tom Scott opened for her. Anyway.. I took a first date. We got there during Tom Scott’s set and all the lights were down. We found our seats and in the dark, we began to do what all of us would do at shows back then… we lit up a joint. I had a wine bag and we were drinking and smoking up! Well after Tom Scott finished his set the lights came up and we realized we were sitting amongst and closely surrounded by 12 year old girls being chaperoned by their parents…. If looks could kill we would have both been dead.
