This is fortunate timing for this video. I went to use my tire inflator/gauge today and realized my wife had run it over (ok, it was me). I was actually looking on Amazon and wondering why most of them for sale go up to 250psi! I haven't had any issues with digital ones, but I keep my garage warm all year round. I just ordered this one though, should be here on Monday.

for these types of application its better to use non disposable batteries like nickel or lithium batteries so small draw does not cause leak. digital gauge need extra care but the reading is much more accurate.
Good day eh!!! That's a nice gauge Steve!! I like that the scale tops out at 100 PSI. Having a gauge the leaks when you clip it on the valve stem is a royal pain. This one looks like it will seal well and last for a long time!!! Thanks for the review and take care!!!

Your batteries leaked/corroded because you used Alkaline batteries.
NiMH rechargeable Eneloop batteries don't tend to leak. Nor do the non-rechargeable Energizer lithium batteries (which, additionally, last longer and have a wider operational temperature range: -40ºF to 140ºF). And, unlike rechargeable lithium ion batteries, they don't spontaneously cause fires. I'd use the Energizer lithiums for an application like a tire gauge, which will set on the shelf for a long time, in varying temperatures.

Yep, smaller scale means larger markings, means easier to adjust pressures more accurately👍
I think its worth mentioning the alternative witch is adjusting the compressor regulator to the desired pressure and let it run.

Great point! Yes thats a good way if inflating a lot of tires. I have TPM in all my tires and I have yet got them to all read the same since new LOL

Steve, I have that same gauge. I'd buy it again. Had it about 20 months. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the chuck failing to lock onto the valve stems and leaking . Usually ended up holding it on the valve stem with my other hand. I recently upgraded to a HALTEC Model H-5265 chuck; I saw it recommended at the Site of Sixtyfiveford. It clamps on there real well, and I have not had a problem hooking it on to my tires. It's larger though and I suspect it may not fit all the time. I looked at my neighbor's F-150 and the stem is short and doesn't protrude far through the hubcap. We'll see.

Great video Steve, I’m going to have to look at purchasing one of those as it seems like a good unit - For a long time I’ve used an air hose and checked with a gauge - an all in one device like this is an upgrade I deserve lol - wondering if moisture in the air caused that older units dial to warp? Well of course you use a cheap set of alkaline battery in conditions like that and expect it go forever, they will leak and get fuzzy. Get a good lithium battery, pull the cover off every now and then and you should have no problems. I have a outdoor temperature sensor that has been through extreme conditions with a lithium battery, far worse than in a heated garage. It has been about a year now, still going no problems yet. Learn to change the batteries in the digital air gage every spring and you won’t have to worry about the lamination lifting up. No squinting to see which dot it’s on. I’ve had the analog type. They don’t last. I’ll stick with digital.

Great video. About two years I was looking for a tire inflator. I was so close to buying a digital one but I kept thinking of dead batteries.... and when do you realize the batteries are dead? When you need it the most lol. I decided to keep it simple and picked up analog one from harbor freight and it's been going strong for 2 years or maybe longer lol, I can't remember. High humidity is also a problem I have , it's why my sockets rust sitting in my tool box so yes I've also seen batteries compartments on small devices just completely corroded like you mentioned. I really like your new one and I agree that all we need is a PSI reading and not a gauge that reads up to 5000 psi 🤣 . Once mine dies or has an unfortunate 😏accident I'll be looking into the unit you have 👍

I'd like to have a way to calibrate them. I do have a checker that is digital but otherwise Im not into the digital ones. Even if the batteries doesnt leak its still batteries that needs changing or charging(in other word service that are too costly when it comes to time) and it is just another thing that can fail when you need it the most or are in a pinch.

I have seen them priced from $2 - $15 so how accurate are they depends on verified use and of course are the 2 dollar ones just as accurate , id say show me first :)

Put a dehumidifier in your garage.
They even put out some heat using it in the winter!
I'm thinking since my garage is not heated in the winter and at -25 the dehumidifier would be a solid block of ice 😉

PAPA makes a lot of money taking companies go from analog to digital! All I know is my gauge says my Window Cleaner needs Water!
Well digital is great for many applications but for looking at my tire pressure is one place analog works well and at half the price LOL
Don't use alkaline batteries, use Energizer lithium batteries instead. Energizer lithium batteries don't leak like alkaline batteries do. I only use either rechargeable or lithium batteries for that reason.

Giant fungus eh? So many digital things will get that fungus disease and go to waste. Contributing to wasting our planet I guess. I do have the digital pressure by itself. Then I use the typical (pencil style) tire inflator. Whenever I want to upgrade, I'll go for the model you shown. Good point you made about the 250 psi range! Why the hell do they do that? That is most likely to "kill" the resolution so a "cheesy" one can still look decent. Thanks!
