Dude, you and I had the same conclusion to this... I was enraged with the Streak ending and even now.... it still pisses the shit out of me.... but to me, Undertaker was was pissed the fuck off when he found out. He never knew it was gonna happen.
I'll say it before, and I'll say it again; the sooner Vince is out of power, the better WWE will be; pray to God it does get that way when Triple H brings his creative mind from NXT onto Raw and SmackDown, once he gets the keys to the castle. Also, I do not mind PG television (since I grew up with a lot of shows in my time that were PG), but when Hunter takes over, one thing I have to say is get some writers who know how to write a WRESTLING show. Not these ex-Hollywood writers in which their work has been hurting WWE for awhile. Oh and I haven't forgotten about Beaver Boy Kevin Dunn, and all the dogshit (or beaver shit in his case) he's helped produced; because he's another one that isn't making WWE TV any better either.
A Buzz Bomber named Buzzsaw no it won't so stop it. And shut up because Triple h is a big problem too and yes. That's the truth. NXT is stupid totoo its killed WWE. STOP believing that garbage. Triple h isn't good at his job either. So stop. Get out of here with th bullshit
I finally listened to the Vinny Mac interview on Stone Cold's podcast last night. And he did sound out of touch about most what Stone Cold and he discussed. He sounded proud to say that he had Taker drop The Streak to a part time bum like Brock Lesnar, if Brock was hot, WWE cooled him off very fast by allowing him to only show up two or three within four months.
Even though I am a huge Lesnar fan, I could never agree with the streak being broken. I think it was stupid. I really don't get it, was WWE trying to overcompensate for Brock's previous shitty booking? Was it part of the 2 month long "Reality Era"? The streak has always been a feel good part of Wrestlemania and now it's gone.
taker loosing is b.s. They killed a 22 year storyline to give the belt to a Lesnar. I would of not cared as much if who one was the future of the company. That win is bigger then the belt. Takers legacy was destroyed for this garbage of not having a champion for months on end. The day Taker lost, WWE started loosing me as a fan. One of the few things that I still watched for was gone.
The streak wasn't actually planned, they just happened to notice it from Wrestlemania 18 on. They didn't start using it as a storyline until Wrestlemania 21
If Lesnar ending the Streak was the right choice he should have absolutely destroyed everyone from the time he returned until someone were to beat him for the championship after a long time period of wondering who it is going to be, even up until Wrestlemania 32 (but Brock would have defend the title at every PPV). That way it would put someone over majorly. I might not have liked it, but it would have been understandable. However, it didn't work that way and it was the wrong guy to end it, and it wasn't a very good match Honestly, as good as the CM Punk match was, Taker should have just retired at 20-0, the last image we'd have of the Undertaker at Wrestlemania would have been him hugging Shawn and Hunter at the top of the ramp, a feel good memory and a good way for him to go out. With that said, if they were to put Taker with Sting at Wrestlemania, I do think it would be best if that wasn't a Streak match, just two legends facing off for the first and last time in a dream match.
Also Jeff, you should check this out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Founder%27s_syndrome There's a term that perfectly describes the WWE's situation: founder's syndrom. I saw it on /r/squaredcircle. I'd like to see you make a video about it.
At first I hated it. Then I grew to accept it and have an optimistic view towards the future of Lesnar. Now with Lesnar and the way he's been used it's just reopened the wound and pissed me off all over again. I still think it should've been Bray Wyatt
Yeah,When Lesnar Ended Taker's Streak,I thought that this was really stupid for a guy who lost to Cena, lost to Triple H,and beats CM Punk with help from Paul Heyman, can beat Taker clean,I thought that the decision came out of nowhere and it didn't make any sense,it made Taker look very weak from that prospective, also beating Cena for the belt and then looks like a bitch aganist him at NOC and then he's gone and we never hear from him until the RR makes it even stupider, and when Vince said that the title doesn't matter makes me wonder why the title holders look like shit right now becasue once they're given the belt and having the belt being taken from them so they move down the card makes the titles means nothing at all.
You can't use logic when it comes to wrestling, that's what it comes down to. Undertaker could never beat Lesnar back in 2002-2003, yet Eddie Gurrerro and Kurt Angle did. You can't look at it that way. John Cena lost a match to the likes of K fed and Johnny Ace, granted with him, but still.
It makes more sense for Angle to've been able to defeat Lesnar clean and convincingly than would've 'Taker, given Angle's credentials. Eddie is a different story.
The more I think about it, the more I feel that this whole Streak-ending thing happened just for the sake of ending the Streak. I can see how Brock Lesnar's status as a MMA fighter could protect the sanctity of the Streak...... but don't MMA fans realize that there are people who know pro-wrestling to be simulated combat BUT do not consider MMA to be the best thing since sliced bread? Once the audience get past Brock's UFC background, the storyline has nothing!
If he was dying to do it this year it should have been Bray Wyatt. Before WM30 he was being presented in a very unique way - I believe his Rumble match with Bryan was his first serious match nearly 6 months after debuting. Would've been easy to keep using him sparingly for awhile similar to Lesnar knowing he could be brought back at a moments notice unlike Lesnar. But now looking at it in hindsight, seeing Vince has shown how much it was really worth to him, it should have 100% been CM Punk as WM29's main event match. It would've been such an easy way to keep him on-side, somehow I couldn't see a Punk who ended the streak becoming as disillusioned with the company as he did, he'd have always looked back on that decision and felt an affinity with WWE. Creatively it would've worked too - would've locked Punk into the role both he and WWE were most comfortable with, as a heel.
Totally agree with you Shkegdadfy 120% totally on this issue. It annoyed when the Blitz team agreed with this stupid decision yhe Lesnar fanboy's said. the
I don't know. WWE has shamlessly ignored there own history before. Remember Rock vs Cena. They had a "Once In A Lifettime" match at Wrestlemania, twice. LOL! #STUPID WWE#
Sorry, Brock never lost to Undertaker. When i looked back, i found that suprising, but yeah, he never lost to Undertaker. With that said, it was still stupid to end the streak, especially that way. I'd have been happier if Kane did it or if Taker retired undefeated at Mania. Brock was NOT the guy to beat him. (here come the ad hominem attacks on me rather than reading what i actually said...) Also, Undertaker has been a part timer for the last 2 years. I'm a big taker fan, but i missed him a lot over those years. And i watch less wrestling after they ended Taker's streak. OTRSCentral great video. Very valid points. I just had to say what i said man.
I have to say i liked a lot of the comments before me hehe BUT it is one thing Jeff, to say what you like as a Fan - and what should be done, what is "Best for Business" And as a Fan for over 25 Years i have to say that the ending of the Streak was done so terrible, it was a real piece of you know what.. And also the Taker/Lesnar Cena/Wyatt Matches crippled WrestleMania XXX which is kinda sad, but it shows us again what is going wrong these days in the WWE..
Here is my problem with the Streak ending in general, who could have ended it? Since I started watching wrestling(Taker is my favorite so it was on my mind) I figured it either wouldn't end or it'd go to a young guy who would have a great career start because of that. The problem is, Vince decided it had to end. No young guy would be believable, think about his last few opponents: HBK, HBK, HHH, HHH, CM Punk. 3 of the top guys to come out of the last 2 decades. A Bray Wyatt wouldn't have been a believable opponent, when everyone should, theoretically, want to end the Streak, how would some young guy like Bray get that chance ahead of a John Cena or a Randy Orton? In the entire life of the Streak I only see 2 guys who could have fit my definition of a person to end the Streak, Orton and Punk when they fought Taker. But you figure both guys were multiple time world champions and one walked out while the other has an attitude problem to this day. I am curious how you would have booked a story around the ending of the Streak. At first when you said it I was stumped but a guy like Mark Henry/Orton/HHH coming out and claiming they could have ended the Streak and feud with Lesnar would have been a passable story. Also something I heard to explain why Lesnar was funny, who else could have handled that heat. I remember back in April someone said whoever ended the Streak would be hated for life yet Lesnar gets cheers now for beating Cena so dominantly :P
I partially disagree with saying Brock isn't a special attraction. I think he is a special attraction, just not on the level he should be after ending Taker's streak. He should be a Rock level of special attraction, but now he's more like a middle-aged Austin level of special attraction.
Also not to mention that Brock himself is such a hothead that if Lesnar is told by VKM or ANY member of the management team, would simply walk out and no-show the program. I am not in NO WAY defending the end of Taker's streak but that's how i see it.
Tell me guys whether this idea is dumb or not. How about run with brock as a face not a smiling dufus. You have Seth cash in on a lesnar match. Hopefully momentum is transferred to Seth and u have him as the definite top heel and brock would have I guess the sympathy and be the top face and he leaves putting himself and another young guy over
I don't get how WWE writes stories as if they think that the fans have terminally short-term memories, and yet they expect us to remember Lesnar...and remember him large. "Forget about the 30-day title defense rule - remember that Lesnar is the champion."
If the Streak should have stayed intact, he should have retired at 28. What's the point of coming back and wrestling at Wrestlemania if nobody wants the Streak ended? That's the problem with the Streak and why Taker not retiring led to this. Brock Lesnar wasn't booked that good but let's be honest: if a frail, old man like Undertaker had beaten Brock Lesnar, it would have looked ridiculous and unbelievable (add in the concussion). The Streak ending was a great moment in a crappy match and I thought they chose the right person to do it at this given point and time.
A large amount of your reasoning is going off the assumption that cena's gonna beat brock. What if brock loses the belt to reigns at mania? Maybe im giving them too much credit, but vince said no1 was ready to end the streak, so he ended it not knowing how much loger taker can go, and then he had a year to build up someone to be ableto beat brock. If that happens does your opinion
i agree taker losing the straek was the wrong time, wrong place but brock lesnar was the worthiest opponent to end it will vince ever admit he's wrong, never, but he has to live with it
Cena was the guy that had to break the streak if they wanted to do it asap, wheter you like Cena or not, it's a fact, he was the only one ready to do it, he was the only one with enough credibility to do it, he was the one that had to do it, period, we would've hated it, it would've sucked so much, but at least it would've made a lot more sense and we could've accepted it on the long run
How would that have made any sense in any way? That would have been the stupidest thing in WWE history. Why would you take a guy who's been the face of the company for over 10 years and make him end the streak? He's already over, he's going to beat Ric Flair's title record, he already wins every match unless he loses to a cheater which very rarely happens. Brock Lesnar was a stupid choice, but John fucking Cena would have been so much worse.
The Streak should never had been broken...... I watched it live and I nearly had a heart attack and cried hard when it happened...
Dude, you and I had the same conclusion to this... I was enraged with the Streak ending and even now.... it still pisses the shit out of me.... but to me, Undertaker was was pissed the fuck off when he found out. He never knew it was gonna happen.

Just want to say loving how Schlegdaddy is breaking down this recent Vince podcast.
He's beaten Taker clean before, and he beat Triple H and John Cena clean as well.
eagleslfootball I know that well
And we know how Cena no sells, which made this situation worse so basically the guy who beat the streak can't beat Vince McMahon......
