During Cena's early days he was actually great but his maneuvers all toned down during his era with only knowing five moves, burying talents and having nonstop title runs. After his Marine gimmick everything changed and gotten stale in-ring from then on.
2010 was hideous, but at least there was still a certain amount of color and life in the product. Characters hadn’t been fully de-emphasised yet, Taker and Jericho were still there, and there were at least one or two other guys on the roster who were relatively interesting. Plus, most of the stories and booking decisions were so bad that they were hilarious. Compare that to now where the roster is unbelievably dry and homogenous, nothing matters at all, and everything isn’t so bad that it’s funny, it’s so bad that I can’t even watch anymore witjout being bored to tears and fast-forwarding. I haven’t seen even the highlights from Raw or Smackdown (or a PPV for that matter) in months, and that won’t be changing any time soon.
Good point, I forgot about Batista and Edge. And Mark Henry, Schlegg’s favourite. Hell, even the guys who weren’t stars at least had distinct characters. Ryder, Morrison, MVP, Kofi, Sheamus, even Swagger and Bourne. Sure, some of them sucked and almost all of them were wasted, but they all looked distinct, acted differently, and wrestled in an individual way.
I have to disagree, The Rock is the only star bigger than Hogan. Back in 2000, before his Hollywood career, The Rock was one of the most popular people on earth he was everywhere. The Rock at least rivals Hogan in stardom. The Rock is king of cable ratings and ppv buyrates for pro wrestling.
@@radentstwo9793 no one that's not a wrestling fan knows Austin, whereas everyone knows Rock... Even Goldberg might be more known outside the wrestling business because he got the rub from Hogan

John Cena is immature and has no class. The way he has treated other stars and even some of the backstage interviewers, was horrendous. Randy Orton, even as a heel, has had a lot more decency than Cena did as a person. Even Edge is a better person than Cena, and that's saying a lot.
@Millennial Smark fan opinions are irrelevant since they change on a dime with these Smarks. Who can't deny numbers tho. Facts are always better than opinions.
@Rated R Superstar and if you're not Big. Having a larger than life character such as Jericho, HBK, and Eddie. Being able to connect with the audience with not just your matches but characters is the most important.
@Rated R Superstar it most certainly does... if you don't have a personality, at least look like a pro Wrestler instead of an average joe breaking our suspense of belief in what we're watching. Take away all of Undertaker traits and abilities and the guy is still a big dude you would want to be in the ring with.
The only thing I remember about that was how he somehow got nominated as a rising star of the year candidate, which I have no idea how it could have happened, since it was so insignificant that even Matt hardy looked like a major star compared to him, and that's saying something.
John Cena was terrible and goofy but at least was compelling enough to be booed constantly because he could generate heat, nowadays babyfaces suck so much that heels get the biggest cheers
John Cena had it.. Unlike Roman Cena had the whole package to be the top guy, face of the company..Cena as an entertainer on the mic and in the ring. People forget he got over in 2002-2004 cause he was such a great heel. There was arenas full of Cena signs and merchandise before he was champion. Once Cena started hogging that top spot yeah they forced him as a baby face but he had what it takes to carry the torch. There's not one thing I can think of that Roman has on Cena.
Was Cena that bad? YES! Yes he was just for the impact he had alone. Look I 120% agree that WWE and wresting in general is the worst it's ever been but that hardly make Cena's shit storylines, segments and matches good even by comparison. He's a major reason why WWE is in the shitter. He drove all the casuals and non smarky hardcores away and left us with children and adults with the brains of children. Simply as a performer, sure you could argue he wasn't that bad but when you take into consideration he's a major factor in the downfall of WWE (and theres no reason you shouldn't) how can you not consider him one of the worst of all time, at least when it comes to main eventers? I'm sick and tired of this retarded critical reevaluation of cena ( it's as stupid as people who think the Star Wars prequels are good now just because the new movies aren't that good. Same level of stupidity). Are we just gonna forget all the burials? This square headed fucker makes Triple H look like Undertaker or Foley when it comes to putting people over. He's basically the one that killed WWE (maybe throw Orton in there too). Never forget that. Fuck cena
