That kit sounds so good. And great recordings - I could really get a feel for what it might sound like in the room. Dang it Adam! I don’t need another kit! :-)
I've got the first year of the session Studio Classic in 2013 when it first came out I know it's not that drumset but I've got Evans black chrome heads on it and gave those drums a really great sound. A lot of people seem to think that the SS seek it didn't have the low-end boom like the SSS does but if you tune it right and put the right kind of heads on it I mean we're talking about Birch which is loud and then you give it a subtle attack with Kapur (soft boom!) I think it's a great sound but you got to have the right skins and to me those black chrome Evans heads are perfect on that kit but don't get me wrong I'd like to go back to playin' the Mahogany & birch (prestige session '91one of my first drums). Session Studio standard (SSS) it's certainly my next drumset, it's an incredible kit. I can see why Pearl went back mahogany/ birch. They've really stepped up the session kit in the last 10 years. They're every bit as good as the Masters kits. I'm also been using a Gretsch Brooklyn standard snare and it's everything I wanted in a wood snare. But I need to get a metal snare and i really love the Gretsch hammered Chrome over brass 5×14, holyshit I sounds incredible.There's another snare I could get for about half the price and that's a Gretsch hammered black steel wow what a awesome sounding snare as well.

And: dampening in the kick?
Kick is empty. Snare is non-matching, so I didn’t want to detract from the rest of the kit by using snares.

I used to own a five piece Reference but could never seem to tune it to where I wanted it.
I’m making a trade deal on enough PA gear to create my own bar type sound. I have to learn a whole bunch about recording and playing with a board.
I want my sub woofer directly below my riser. Dude, …lol… I wonder what that’s gonna sound like when I actually turn the speakers towards me. This time my snares getting a coated head. I’m learning my dynamics with brushes.
I have to do my rooties every night or I get cold. I’m starting to fall for swing music.
Funk added to anything makes it a hybrid.
Oh yeah, I have adhd really bad. I thought I’d grow out of it but it’s apparently a tractor beam that won’t die.
Wish I can get a set …. Some day

only think i don't like about Session Studio is no tom mount on tha bass drum especially if u end up in tight places but it's a great set
