This BMW E39 M5 has had it's original 5.0L V8 removed, and instead sits a Toyota Supra's 2JZ Inline Six with a monstrous single turbocharger and a manual transmission. This setup is supposedly good for over 1,200 HP, though it is dialed back to 800 hp for road testing on pump gas. This build is insane.

There must be a fair number of people revisiting this vid. Just randomly showed up in my recommendations after watching the padcast that mentions it. Gonna have to thank the shit bag for upping your views, lol.
Watching the podcast now. Great show. Sorry about Conrad.
Kevin Bacon of the Car world? Zack? Lol
I just listened to the podcast...holy shit!
Bro the shit he said was NOT okay. This dude was not in a good place a few weeks ago.
Well I wonder what will be happening to the car now. Hummm
"Cleeve is a maniac"...well, that statement has held up
This guy is so chill, i hope he doesn’t end up storming the capital January 6 2021
I didn't know matthew mcconaughey was into 2JZ swapped bimmers
hahaha awesome comment
alright alright alright
i was driving a 2jz m5... way before i got paid to drive one... i just like how it feels...
Just makes the dude even cooler imo.
what the fuck he looks nothing like him. you're racist and i demand an apology right now.
I like how this got recommended to me now
It's because they updated the description...
More than 24h ago..
Anybody else glad to see it WASN'T an LS swap lol?
I'd have preferred an LS to be honest, at least it's somewhat similar to the S62...
Like the s62, that would be way too boring..
Kendrick Medearis 🙋🏾♂️
Why? Because the 2JZ is so much more original? Lol.
highwaystar1009 Compared to the amount of LS swaps you see nowadays.. To me it's a nice change of pace lol
Do you take it to Toyota or BMW for servicing???
This might be the best comment I've read on this video haha
unmiogu neither considering Toyota wants nothing to do with working on a modded 2jz, let alone a regular stock 2jz and BMW really doesn't like working on older cars they will do it, but because the techs are young they prefer the newer cars so they don't have to diagnose anything, they can just hook up he computers and scan it for the problem same applies to mercedes
TMW dealer, if it was LS swapped it obviously be serviced by GMW.
I should hope no one would get dealer servicing for any sort of car like this. If you built it yourself, you can service it yourself. If you had a shop build it for you, then that shop can surely perform any service you need.
you take it to a guy by the name of Billy Bob Joe Bob or Erl out in the cousin hump'in regain of the back woods, where he specializes in meth head fabrication, tweaker projects, and the manufacturing and distribution of shine. he also has a good deal on oil changes. he cuts cost by digging a latrine to drain the oil, back fill hole and no one is the wiser....... Budweiser....o ya Budweiser is his preferred bartering implement. I asked him if I should cut out the middle man and just piss in his mouth....he was not having any of my sarcastic antics especially when I said if that joke came attached to a government handout, he'd most likely find the humor... and for some odd and possibly unrelated reason I'm not allowed back on the property or within 300ft of him and his family......... Court order.
lol sunroof opens at 10:50
PsychedeliC He was going too fast.
PsychedeliC yep, that used to happen in my 650hp/750tg E63.
Granted, my E39 barely has 300hp and the sunroof panel opens like that under hard acceleration. They're pretty prone to sliding freely like that.
the car is cool tho, I had E39 too with no sunroof I haven't experienced that.
PsychedeliC lol sunroof shade, how do you even notice stuff like that?
Gotta give the guy props to keeping the 2JZ the car came with and tuning it to a monstrous level
No, got to shoot the fucking idiot for not restoring it to stock.
Richard Harrold go weep a river of tears, no one cares.
Richard Harrold, dude you are seriously pissed off at the owner man its fucking hilarious 😂 every time I read your comments I'm cracking up laughing you should chill out at the end of the day it's just a car
A car this rare (fewer made than the Ferrari 458 Italia) is not "just a car". It's a piece of automotive heritage.
I've got two E39s, both bone stock. I am planning some light mods to make a wee bit more power, but nothing drastic. Nobody has the right to wreck a car like this.
who else is here after watching the last podcast?
youtube does have a weird way around things
2:44 - Matt has a distinctive turbo flutter laugh when he experiences or hears about BIG power hahaha
Here from the podcast lol
Wait a sec, no spun rod bearings, vanos or timing chain issues. If anything he made it reliable.
S62s don't have any of the problems you described, they're bombproof even at high mileages and with forced induction.
Muh Usm
I absolutely don’t want to sound like a fanboy, but the E39 M5 didn’t have these issues.
The E39 M5 didn’t have the rod bearing issue. That was the E60 M5’s concern.
Vanos could start to rattle a bit with age (only audible when the hood was open). But absolutely not bad for the motor, it’s a cosmetic concern.
The timing chain was a concern with American made M62 engines (found in cars like the 540, 740 and several other British cars). The chain itself lasts, it’s the guides that break. The guides life can be prolonged by making sure your chain tensioner is healthy (very easy job, you only have to get rid of the airbox).
Also, BMW had huge problems back in the day with total engine failure in the American cars. Turned out to be an oil issue. The oil in Europe is very different compared to US oil apparently.
BMW engines will be very unforgiving if you treat them wrong. It’s not a heavy iron-block engine. Treat them like your wife and they’ll be making loud noises for years to come :). Take care!
@@jgripen969agreed, myE39 M5 has 550hp (with supercharger) the rest is all stock and got 200200km on the clock and it purrrrrrrrs :D I love it !
The s62 only has valve issues related to carbon build up.
J Gripen ? Did u ever even own a E39 M5? I had my bearings replaced and they were starting to copper at around 120k miles... E90’s S65 motor is just as bad as the E60’s too
His car, his rules. Leave him and his car be.
No. One, any car modifier has a duty of care not to build something downright dangerous and of dubious structural integrity. That's what this fuckwit has done. Two, when you own a rare and desirable car (like an E39 M5), you have a duty to posterity, to pass the car on to future generations unmolested. By all means make detailed improvements, tweak it for a bit more power, but once you've swapped in an inferior engine and cut the shell to fuckery, it should never see the road again.
Richard Harrold dude, no one has a duty to do anything that isn't enshrined in law. Look, I get it, you like the E39 M5, but it's not your car, it's someone else's, and he's done what he wanted to do to it regardless of whether you approve or not
How the fuck do you know what it's structural integrity is like? Did you even watch the video you muppet? And what the fuck are you talking about 'duty of care'??? If it's your car do what the hell you want to to it..
Even the US has laws regarding car modifications, and swapping in an older, less sophisticated (and highly modified) engine is certainly illegal in many states. However, an engine swap alone is easy enough to reverse. What isn't easy to reverse is the downright dangerous hacking about of the shell. Guaranteed this thing would not pass any kind of structural integrity test. This is why many countries have banned the modification of cars.
What? Engine swaps are not illegal, show me the legislation that says they are. How do you know he's even hacked the 'shell' at all? Fenders aren't the shell dude.
I had to rewatch after this was mentioned on the podcast lmao
What episode?
I love a good 2JZ swap as much as anyone, but this is hard for me. I fell in love with the E39 M5 just because of that roaring S62.
So a BMW that's finally reliable!
Sweet ride!
The S62 is far stronger and more dependable than the 2JZ.
Richard Harrold My comment is originally about reliability, and I still stand by it. BMW motors may have been reliable many decades ago, but currently pale in comparison to Toyota.
"Currently" being the operative word. BMW has badly lost its way, and the current engine range is woeful. However, the E39 marked the zenith of a golden era for BMW, and the S62 is one of the toughest, most reliable racing engines ever built. It's still doing service in endurance racing all over the world for a very good reason - nobody has ever bettered it.
Richard Harrold Yes yes, such a great reliable engine, that's why BMW is still using it in their cars today--wait a minute! They're not. If it was that great and has never been "bettered," then it would still be in production. "BMW" and "reliable" in the same sentence is a grammatical error.
That's because all of today's BMWs are utter dogshit. The company has badly lost its way. The current engine range is woeful, with quantifiably worse economy, performance and refinement than their predecessors. The Bavarians have lost the plot. The S62 is a vastly better engine than anything currently in production at BMW. The Lexus 2UR-GSE is its truest successor in production today. The S62 continues to be used in endurance racing in preference to the current BMW engines because it's so much stronger, more reliable and nicer to drive. Nobody has ever made a 5-litre 400bhp V8 more reliable than the S62, and the M62 from which it was developed is well known for doing mega mileage without rebuilds. The S62 is certainly good for upwards of 250,000 miles.
Reading through these comments is just sad. Any true car enthusiast could appreciate the time, passion, and hard work that has gone into this monstrous machine. Would I 2JZ swap my BMW? No, it doesn't interest me, but this car is insane!
you can always tell Matt loves a car when he's giggling with joy the whole video lol
The emphasis on the amount of times Matt says crazy in the video really aged well
M5 is a mass produced family sedan. It's not like he's desecrated some precious rare thing. By all means engine swap and body kit these. Cool car now.
A grand total of 20,482 E39 M5s were built. That makes it precious and rare. This is not cool - it's ruined and it's downright dangerous.
It is not rare. Its not exactly common but its not rare.
M5 family car? damn! I wonder what you call a sport car.
sleepybird09 because you can put a family inside? so does a mini Cooper... you can put a clown family there. 😂😂
Richard Harrold How's it dangerous? Even if it is,a lot of things are dangerous...get over it.
shoutout to my boy Cleve for storming the capitol lol
2:44
When Matt's laugh sounds like a 2jz blow off
Matt, can you block this Richard Harrold guy? He is literally replying to every comment harassing & trolling people.
I'm not harassing or trolling anyone. Just trying to educate the fuckwits who don't realise what a downright dangerous car and utterly ruined this is.
You cant educate anyone based on opinion.
You dont know whether or not this car ACTUALLY is dangerous and being built by Technica i highly doubt it is, just by looking at the work done on this you can see its done properly.
And as for your other comments on how these mods are "Banned" in most western countries they're really not. As long as you get it certified and approved by either state or TUV for europe all these mods can be leagal.
Doing these mods WITHOUT getting it approved however, is illegal.
Your clear affection for the e39 does not rule out any and all mods YOU dont like.
Richard, mate, I think you really need a mental health check. You have absolutely no grip on reality.
Richard Harrold bitch
Richard Harrold take your butthurt ass else where if u dont enjoy matts content find someone else
Don't dog the owner, he bought it with a 2j. He gave this chassis life again, and a proper life at that.
The only responsible thing to do would have been to swap the S62 back in. Instead, he ruined it further.
Richard Harrold For Christ's fucking sake, shutuuuup
Nope, not going to. Just because the JDM fanboys are butthurt that anyone dares question the eternal global supremacy of their beloved 2JZ...
@@richardharrold9736 it's funny how you say the JDM boy is the one that got butthurt, while you are getting out of control because of one 2j swap e39, and the JDM boy is (sort of) cool with european & american engine in their "JDM" car.
The minute someone does something that's unheard of everyone loses their minds. This is a unique and dope build you don't see every day. If you're a real car guy you can appreciate it.
It's unheard of because it's a fucking stupid idea.
Richard Harrold that's an opinion bud. Why do you think it's a stupid idea? Cause it's a Toyota engine in a BMW? Cause this car is "sacred" and shouldn't be motor swapped? Cause it's different from the countless LS swap / generic ass builds out there?
The E39 M5 is rare enough to deserve preservation from alteration, but if the S62 had genuinely blown up (extremely unlikely, it's one of the strongest, most reliable engines ever made), I wouldn't mind an engine swap. If I had to go outwith BMW, I'd probably use the Mercury Racing SB4 (a quad-cam LS7). I wouldn't say no to the 5-litre Lexus V8 either. I prefer not to go into cross-brand swaps, but there are some good options out there. The 2JZ, however, is a regressive change from the S62. It's 40% smaller, it's heavier, it's got a longer, more flexible crank, and generally doesn't make as good a base for a high-power builds. There are loads of boosted S62s making north of 850bhp perfectly reliably.
Well he bought an already 2JZ-swapped M5 so he's forgiven
No, he isn't forgiven. If you buy an engine-swapped BMW, the only thing you should do to it is swap back the correct engine.
Richard Harrold All right BMW fanboy keyboard warrior
The 2JZ sounds shit. Want a good-sounding straight six? S54 N/A all day long.
Richard Harrold
Ew no, too much metallic rasp.
The S54 doesn't rasp, it howls. The 2JZ just rumbles - it sounds rough and agricultural, which is astonishing given it's a straight six. Clearly, that much boost isn't good for NVH.
As a BMW purist... I totally approve of this car!
It embodies the spirit of what this M5 was all about, being the world's fastest production sedan ever made in 2001. As a true car guy, he saw someone else's attempt and failure at that dream and is doing an amazing job at executing the project and finishing what the previous guy couldn't. Obviously I'm a fan of the original motor more but it doesn't matter, he didn't remove it 1, and 2 he's done extensive mods making it really its own unique M5. It's still a manual. It's still an M5. It's wide-bodied, It's purpose built, it has so much presence, and it's being loved, driven, & built by a car guy that truly gets it! Cheers man!
Thanks for sharing this little bit on inspiration! love it!
Look, I'm a BMW fanboy, and I love the E39 M5 just as much as the next guy (even plan to get one in the future once they're
They'll never be under $10k unfortunately
You know it's a good car when Matt can't help but interrupt the owner with maniacal laughter.
Never thought I'd see a 2JZ in an M5.
You knew it was coming.
I've thought about that swap before since the base 528i comes with an inline 6, it fits like a glove
I'm currently in the process of starting the same project, I'm super excited when I have the funds and guy time to get it done!
"500 to all four wheels and if you slip off the track you can keep going!" this guy is awesome
you can tell that at 2:45 he just wanted to floor it to use that turbo :D
is the kind of laughter that straight up tells you his soul is screaming "DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!"
Sweet thanks for the update, got ya off “Tom Talks”
YES FINALLY!! AFTER 3 YEARS OF WANTING TO SEE THIS THING RUN!
This is one of the best one-takes ever, even though it would have been so much better yet if you'd had it on some of your good roads Matt! What an interesting and cool car build!!
yeah such a shame they were on the roads they had. the car would be an animal if he stayed in it in the upper rpm
As an E39 540i owner, This is excellent.
Matt's little giggle-fits tell you all you really need to know.
That thing is amazing. That's seeing a build through down the rabbit hole and back out again.
I really want to see your impression on Ford falcon XR6 turbo
Hectic mods ! what car is in your thumbnail.? thanks in advance
its a fordghini hurAUcan
or a big turbo Vl
hahahaha hurAUcan fkn love those memes. I've been telling him this for years, I've mentioned we should set up a crowdfunder to get him over here. he'd love the fuck out of a big power falcon.
i wanna see him do a turbo au
that half mile drag racing in bonkers!!! to do it in such a heavy powerful 2wd car takes CRAZY BALLS
Whats up with all the whiney bitches today? Its his car, his money. Dont like it? Get out of your basement, and go build your own. With your own money. I normally think e36's are ugly. I actually liked this one. Good video. Great owner.
Nobody has the right to fuck up a car that was perfect from the factory and that damn rare.
Richard Harrold needs to get a life.
butthurt
Dude, Richie. Someone else did it before he bought it, so it's fair game.
Richard Harrold , we get get it. You're a purist fuckhead who thinks his opinion is fact. You also sound like a broken record.
Sick, sick car. Perfect mix of luxury 4 people capable with insane JDM power. So cool.
10:46 it pulls so hard the sunroof opens haha.
love it. people usually say that as they get older they had to " grow up". you're my hero!
couple of things here, one is that the wide body shrunk the car visually, it looked like an extra flared e36. second is the potential power of the 2jz vs the stock e39 v8. A half mile built 2jz can make loads more power than a built/ boosted e39 v8 ever could dream of. cool car.
The S62 is 65% bigger than the 2JZ in displacement, and it's bombproof reliable. An 850bhp S62 will do hundreds of thousands of miles reliably. This thing will do a few thousand and blow up.
Richard Harrold i know plenty of 2jz engines pumping out in excess of 1200 hp reliably if built right. there are no bmw v8 engines that can say the same
A 1200bhp 2JZ is not reliable. 400bhp/litre, that's more a bomb than an engine. The S62 will certainly make 1200bhp more reliably than the JZ, it's got 65% more displacement. There are 850bhp supercharger kits with thousands of examples running as daily drivers no problem. You can't say the same of the 2JZ.
Richard Harrold displacement is not the end all say all in potential power and longevity, it's case flex. if you have a bottom end that is built to withstand flex, then you can make big power. Every block has its limitations, though some are higher than others. billet blocks solve that problem for huge power but cost huge money. depends on how much you want to spend. i know of several 4 cylinder turbo engines that make over 1000 hp if built right, once again, money.
Displacement is a big part of it, because otherwise you're running crazy amounts of boost and bomb-like cylinder pressures to make the necessary power. Straight sixes also have an inherent susceptibility to crank flex at high RPM, especially with a lot of boost. The S62 is a more rigid, more reliable platform for high-power builds.
Never thought i'd give a thumbs up for a 2jz swapped M5 e39 but this thing is awesome! The sound of the 2jz fits the M perfectly for some reason!
I'm a BMW enthusiast and have probably own more BMW's than most of you have owned cars. But at heart, I'm a car enthusiast and this is badass. The man did something original and did it damn well, I give this man full props and to whoever is giving him shit for his swap is not a true car enthusiast.
Much respect to this guy he is 45 and still keeping his passion for cars, his m5 fits him so much a mature looking car with an enjoyable engine just like him a mature guy with a heart full of joy for cars, and I think racing seats won't fit the persona of the car, you would expect a teenager or a guy in his twenties to have racing seats.
BRAWRG THIS IS SO STUPID! Chill out. It isn't your money, and it's cool seeing something original.
Doesn't matter. People simply should not be allowed to carry out such downright dangerous modifications. There's a good reason why most European countries have banned them.
Richard Harrold which part is dangerous
And what exactly is dangerous here? The added grip? The better brakes? Do tell.
Pro tip- saying something is dangerous and then not being able to state what is dangerous just makes you wrong right off the bat. No argument to be had, you're an idiot, Richard.
I've stated repeatedly what's dangerous. Cutting into the monocoque to widen the arches, and no doubt cutting the firewall to fit the long straight six (the V8 E39s have a different firewall to the straight-six cars), cutting the front chassis crossmember (the JZ is hella tall)... this is not a safe car.
I love it when Matt drives a car that makes him laugh out loud. This is what it must feel like to be a proud parent. A build i would totally do.
This dude has a car that's so fast that it opens the sunroof by itself, and you haters are still whining about how he ruined his car
Im a huuuuge bmw fanboy and i think this thing is so badass. Looks of the BMW with one of the best engines ever in it, love it.
Why an M5 though? Would it not make more sense to use a normal 5 series like a 520 or something?
Well no need to be so rude to start with, what are you 12?
and surely you'd change them out for something more modern anyway?
The stock M brakes aren't that great, and the V8 cars have a different steering setup, different firewall and different front crossmember, all of which will have had to be cut into to swap the JZ in. Much easier to start with a straight-six E39 and turbocharge that. If you must swap in the JZ, it will fit in the 520i much more easily.
I'm not too familiar with the E39, but I know on the E46, people will buy the M3 to start because it looks better, it has a stiffer chassis, wider stance, better components and a really nice interior. I'm sure they could start with a standard 3 series, especially if they're going to do suspension and brakes anyway, but it's really had to make the 3 series look like the M. I'm assuming it's similar for this build. Plus, I don't know if he mentioned what diff is in it, but when people swap engines into the E46 M3, they reuse the M3 diff and if you had a 3 series that'd be another thing on the shopping list. Though, if this guy is aiming for 1400hp, he's probably got a different diff in there anyway.
Dan, the E46 is a different kettle of fish as all of the shells are the same (within the specific body type) regardless of engine, so the M3 has the same firewall etc as the 318Ci. The only difference is the swollen arches and different bumpers. Not so with the E39 - the 'six and V8 shells are radically different despite their identical external appearance.
I think is pretty hard to find a 520 in the US. Don't know if they even sold them over there and the M5 has the most potential.
I always like it when Matt asks a question, and then during the response he "Matts" the gas pedal. "sorry man, carpet was not recalled was it? cuz it needs to be" wink.
I really don't get all the hate. The car is fast as fuck and drives well; who cares how it looks ?
Poor guy he's up there ready to tell everything about this car and Matt goes epic little kid. Got to love it, you have the best job in the world.
Haters gonna hate, this is a great swap, I like it :D
2:44 Whenever you hear that laugh from Matt, the car is something special.
Matt my daughter says you sound like a dolphin when you laugh. 😂😂😂😂
I absolutely love it when Farrah laughs like a little girl when he gets on it. This car looks like a big ol ball of fun.
vehicle virgins could learn a thing or two from this
There's nothing to learn from this except DON'T FUCKING DO IT.
butthurt
As a BMW fanboy who would personally never molest a real e39 M5 like this, one has to seriously appreciate this build. It is his car and his money. Leave him be. Cars are made to enjoy. I would personally modify it with the original BMW powerplant but it is not my car or my money. Why the hate?
What’s up jeans
Keep Feathering it brother
Just "Glassin" around!!!!
This is a cool guy
E39.. one of the BEST chassis designs created by BMW.
Indeed. Shame this one has been ruined.
With this much power and a rear wheel drive I would really be concerned about the turning radius. If the rear fishtails there's no way to catch it because the wheels move like 3 inches in each side lol
Technica did some work on my 2008 e92 335i(RIP. 2 trees and a telephone pole fell on it and turned it into a pancake)... They are legit! Love those guys... I saw this car being built. They also had a supercharged e60 that they were working while the e39 2jz was being built... Matt needs to track down that monster e60, too. Big shout out to the Technica crew!
so many engineers watch the smoking tire. car guys must be the smartest people in the world.
This car is amaze-balls! Best sedan ever with one of the best engines on the planet. I want your car.
I'm probably going to make it my mission to find an E39 M5 and swap in some gen 1 small block chevy or maybe even a flathead ford v8, just to make people as happy as this car has made the commenters here. No, scratch that, a 4G63T or maybe a RB26... There's too many options, but at least I can take the BMW V8 out and set it on fire while I ponder them.
ka24e
Thats the spirit. How about putting a rotary in there ? I can already see the hate in their eyes.
Maybe an old 12a rotary.
Remembers me at the no fucks given RX7 wich matt showed on DRIVE. Great Car.
put a vw Baja bug 500cc in there
While I'm not a fan of cross-brand engine swaps, this one is done really well, especially that widebody. Thanks for uploading!
So let me get this straight. This Richard Guy watches a modified E39 M5 on what is arguably the definitive tuned car show, and bitches because it's not stock? What? Why is he here in the first place? The show literally revolves around driving tuned cars lol. I think he's butthurt it's an E39 (he mentioned he owns several standard E39s not an M5), and the fact that the 2J in it is far superior to the BMW units provided with the E39 chassis.
I like tuned cars, not wrecked cars. So, if this was a Dinan S2 with 75bhp more than stock, I'd love it. If it had an ESS supercharger on the S62 and was making 800bhp that way, I'd love it. As it's suffered a regressive engine swap and a hideous (and functionally/structurally questionable) wide-body conversion, I hate it. The 2JZ is a fine engine in its own right, but it's far from superior to the S62.
Richard Harrold everyone in the comment section hates you. Stop stating your opinion as fact.
Richard Harrold everyone in the comment section hates you. Stop stating your opinion as fact.
Actually, I've had tons of support, and 38 likes to date on my original comment - not too shabby.
And thousands of other people think you're an idiot.
Matt always has the best reaction when the car he reviews is nuts. Loved it. Awesome car and what a great owner.
I want one of these or the e60 m5. Best m5s made by BMW.
I just heard the story on the podcast with Jonny from MT where this dude emailed you after he took it to a drag strip and as soon as he launched it, E V E R Y airbag went off and the transmission just evacuated itself from the car. Amazing.
dont get me wrong i like this build in concept, but why do it to an m5? its known (atleast over here in europe) that the e39's v8 can easily hit 800hp with a supercharger (wich would also be a lot cheaper than a full engine swap) and your car would keep a higher value because bmw people like bmw engines lol, and you still have that v8 rumble wich does fit better to a big boat like the m5 imho
This is what true pistonheads live for! Pure madness and creation. Love it!
skip to 1:05 to bypass the buzz killing sales pitch. at least promote aftermarket parts or drugs, those sell like hotcakes.....matter of fact add hotcakes to the list, those sell like drugs
Cody Dew I'm 6 months late, but I love this comment.
Stop hating y'all, this is a fast car, that's all you should care about
Lmfao just heard the story about how this guy tried to storm the Capitol on Tom Talks 😂 had to come check out the loser and his car.
I'm 22mins behind you in life.😂
@@someawhole6578 🤣🤣 gotta be on top of things, dude!
This is incredible. I live in GA, hopefully Ill run into this thing one day with my 540i so I can see it blow the doors off my car
Richard Harrold, u mad bro?
when matts watch is worth more than my whole turbo build lol
@9:30 anyone complaining that the V8 has been ditched should have a listen.... you will never beat that sound with a BMW V8! love this car, one the best ever on TST Butt hurt BMW fans lol, I own an E36 328i sport, id swap it for a 2J every day of the week.
The 2JZ sounds like shit, it's just a load of turbo whoosh. The whole point of owning an M car is the visceral howl and linear power delivery of the N/A engine.
yah, butthurt bmw fanboys saying that a 2jz is not worthy of a bmw m5 that probably costed only 15 grand. I would even argue that the all bmws are not worthy of the 2jz supra engine.
Yah except all m cars today are i6 turbos
The 2JZ is nothing special. It's a good engine of the standards of 20-25 years ago, in stock form. In this, it's a massive retrograde step. The M5 today is a V8, albeit turbocharged. The M3/4 has the S55 all-alloy turbo six, and that engine is a POS.
***** lol...
Our car seen in Atlanta is looking mighty bright 🤔 LA we coming for you!
Just went full throttle on the toilet
I love the engine swap. Put a great 2JZ with Huge potential, in an e39 body, Perfect!
I really want to hate this but it is kinda cool!
HEY MATT, LOOKIN GOOD MAN! THAT GYM TIME IS PAYING OFF. LOVE THE PODCAST BEST PART OF MY WEEK!
The BMW butt hurt from this video is fantastic.
Everything about this thing is insane and I love it.
This car is so stupid. I love it.
I'm a big M5 fan, but not really into the Supra thing. Must say this is one of the coolest builds reviewed on the channel!
i would of just kept the 4.9L and threw a supercharger....call it a day
very nice build, saw it in person, not only is it crazy fast its also an amazing show car
so much butthurt from BMW fans esp from Richard Harrold
I really enjoyed this vid . Thanks Matt & co.! Enjoy your vacation.
doesn't turn the wheel the whole way
"Ugh, the turning circle"
With those stupid fat wheels, that's as far as it'll turn.
@@richardharrold9736 lmao they probably widen the wheelbase & not just the wheel.
That 2JZ sound never gets old! Sweet!
