- I've noticed a huge influx of people asking this question lately, so I thought I'd do a very quick and simple overview of how I do what I do for the benefit of those who might not have seen some of the past videos in which I've discussed the subject. Of course my primary objective on this channel is to entertain people, but from time to time I like to try and help offer up some information too. ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS & ADDITIONAL INFO:
Q: How come you don’t get fat?
A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you're interested in learning more, see the 'It Was Just A Normal Day...' video.
Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

Na, I’m only joking…but this bonus video is one I wanted to make in order to give as clear and concise an explanation as possible of how I can do what I do. I know I’ve discussed this before, but I wanted to make the simplest possible guide as a point of reference, since I’ve been seeing this particular question a lot again recently.

I really enjoy it when you make videos like this! It gives us a better look at your daily life and gives us information on nutrition. You should do a video that shows what you eat on or non eating challenge days!
Glad to see you put serious thought into this and are responsible about your health. I'm new to the channel and enjoyed things from an entertainment point of view, but I have to confess I was a bit worried about your future health. This helped put those fears at ease!

Simple and effective. I do intermittent fasting, watch what I eat through the week and I'm in the gym 6 days a week too. It's crazy what you can actually get away with eating when you have discipline!
I knew this. But thanks for explaining the basics. You are one smart cookie. I've lost so much weight since moving from London to Australia and have become more active. I walk everywhere (don't own a car) and have found that I can eat what I want and still be a healthy weight at my age. Love your channel and always look forward to new content. Huuuurrrrshruuuu!

That sounds good but unfortunately it's not completely true. It also requires moderation. If your caloric deficit is too big you will cause something called metabolic damage and weight-loss will become impossible. You need to make sure your metabolism keeps working properly, and a caloric deficit of more than 500 calories daily can hamper your goals. Slow, steady weight loss is the key.
@@cimi93x funny enough you can recover from metabolism damage and it’s impossible to not lose weight when your in a deficit even with metabolism damage because that defies physics
@@butterb7925 it doesn't defy physics, your body adapts to functioning on what you've been giving it. Personally i've had this happen to me. I ate 1700 calories for too long and my body simply stopped losing weight after some time. It is true you can recover of course.
Really is frightening the amount of people who don’t know this stuff.

@Kieran Dillon look how many people are obese and have major health problems as a result. If this stuff was encouraged as a preventative measure then that issue would reduce. In no way was that arrogant at all. it’s not about “diet and fitness” it’s about understanding what you’re putting into your body and how our bodies react. The fact you made that comment and that he’s had to make this video at all shows too many people overthink it.
Well that’s that and I see no reason to ever revisit this question ever again.

Very nice explanation of the science that helps you do what you do. So many people seem to be asking about how hard the 1,000 calorie days are. Gotta figure that being a well known UA-camr with 1M followers that allows you to not have a normal job helps ALOT! Love watching your videos. Keep it up and COYG!!!

Im so happy you explained this. I'm obese @ 140kg and live a sedentary lifestyle. recently started replacing 2 meals a day, breakfast and supper with meal replacement shake(herbalife) "normal" food for lunch but plan on plan on trying some other brand shake this month. On fridays ill have a decen braai(BBQ) with my family and eat supper with them. Shakes for breakfast and lunch on a friday. Amazingly im still losing weight. So i think my caloric intake with the shake creates a deficit for me to have a decent braai with my family. Thanks, you're a beast!

Living abroad in Italy and stumbled upon your channel and immediately fell in love with the content and the eloquent, humorous way in which you enact your unconventional lifestyle. I have been on a weight loss journey for a few years now I've tried everything from Keto to intermittent fasting. I lost 70 lbs last year on Keto but it has all come back. I have always hated counting calories. I do not know why I never considered doing it this way it makes so much sense! I have followed you for a few years and I know you have spoken about this in the past but for some reason today the logic of it just punched me in the face thanks Adam
I do this in my own life. Usually eat less throughout the week and work out regularly so that on the weekends I can splurge. It’s weekend warrior shit but hey it gets the job done

Gym bro: "nah I'm on the paleo minor keto major underground diet, I drink a litre of cream every 3 hours it means I cant gain weight if I dont eat bread, simples"
That always makes me laugh, "I gets bigguh muscle but don't gain fat cuz pseudo science explanation" when the reality is they're taking junk like steroids, sarms, pro-hormones, peptides etc.
It's already been scientifically proven over several decades that the maximum muscle you can gain naturally per month is 1kg and you will gain fat while doing it, if you lose enough fat to the point you're ripped and shredded then you'll lose muscle no matter how much you workout, because you wouldn't be taking in enough calories.
Trying to explain this to people is very very hard

Love the content and love the different foods you eat. Showed my bro this channel and he asked, why doesn't beard just make a series on macros and eating as a side of video content in his fun style to educate people on good eating habit knowledge. I've always said exercises/being active is the key to keeping your weight down, it works for me cos I'm always on the go, love working out but then i Could sit and eat a big fat greasy pizza no problem! But i do have healthy foods days too! 😂

na for me, it's a simple thing. If people are interested in the minutia, I'd really encourage those people to do the leg work and read up on some of the studies. Better that way than the message being mediated by me. In my opinion anyway, but thanks for the support :)

May I say this is the one of the best short clips on how to eat with common sense included (without of course being competitive eater champ)in it for a healthy person (not the one with insulin resistance or similar conditions). Easy put, calories in, calories out.

In your eating competitions do you find that there are "fatter" people or are they more athletic builds?
i think there's some variance but by and large in the top 15 nobody is over weight

You should post a video shot over a week which compares the food intake and what you eat on regular days when there's no food challenge. Should make for an interesting watch to see the balanced take over the week!
But what about your cholesterol levels? How often do you have blood work done to make sure levels (not just cholesterol) aren't too high or too low?

I think people want to know how you fit the contents of your challenges into your stomach (given your slim ish frame). Perhaps explain the contractions on the stomach, i.e. how it grows in size and the gag reflex training to overcome the fullness feeling? We get that you exercise and that you lead a healthy lifestyle but the amount of food consumed in one sitting is the mystery to most. Love your videos mate
Nutrition and exercise are of course the bottom line, yes!! I’m a mum and the hard part is getting family to listen, ha!
