    We spray on the heat and sound control for better interior temps and sound. Lizard Skin sounds kinda freaky for a product that shrugs of heat and dampens sound as well as this stuff does but hey, we like it!

    @Ethanjbo135 Yes. I have been really amazed by the product. The cool thing is that with experimentation you can get a very smooth finish with Lizard Skin; this will make for a neater appearance on the surface.
    Some mufflers have a real drone at around 2,500 RPM and you have to keep in mind that you'll need to get the whole chassis to really change the noise.

    I enjoyed your videos. Wife's not happy I spent all night watching but I'll spray her with Lizard skin and give this sound deadening a real test. Great job!

    Yes. You can do both. Just make sure that the correct mil thickness is maintained.

    Yep that can happen in any thing. We always try and clear other vehicles out of the shop when we are applying, cutting or grinding anything. A friend ruined the paint on his Camaro grinding on rebar on the across a 30 foot room form his car.

    @AutoRestoMod Not a problem there! I'll definitely let them know you guys helped me make up my mind. Thanks again and I'll probably have more questions as I advance through each of your videos.

    According to Lizard Skin the Sound Control should go on first then the Heat Control. Let the Sound Control dry completely before applying the Heat Control (we recommend 24 hours). The Heat control will provide SOME sound deadening for the roof panel. The 84 Monte will have the fiber board/padded headliner that will knock back more sound than the old bow style headliner so if you are trying to save money, the Heat control would be our top pick to use on the inside of the roof.

    @mbmopar Thanks! We try and go into more detail than most. We're also looking to do some Mopar stuff too. However, around here, Mopar stuff is not as popular. BUT we are actively looking for a local car to do some stuff on.

    This video was so helpful. Thank you so much for the testing you performed and the explanation on everything. I have a cab floor on my Dodge truck needing some sound deadening and I've been wanting to see reviews on this product. Going to primer tomorrow and spray on some lizard skin as soon as I can get some ordered! I can't believe it took me until now to find your UA-cam channel, but boy am I glad I found it.
    Would 1 gallon be enough to cover a standard cab truck floor? Only need the floor.

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 років тому

    @4x4forlyfe Thanks for the kind words! One gallon should be more than enough.for a truck cab. Just to be safe I'd talk to the guys at LizardSkin about usage and what not. Also, tell them that you saw the video here and that was what made up your mind to buy, that will help us out.

    I have a question. With the floors inside the car do u put the sound deadner down first then the heat spray down second or it dosen't matter. Also the top of the roof would just need the sound deadner one right, I have a 1984 monte ss I want to resto and I was looking at all different other sound deadening and this one seems like its the best from your video.

    I would use a speaker making a solid tone directed at a body panel. Measure the sound on the other side of the panel before lizard skin, then after.

    @heresteven We love it too Steve, we've used it on three cars so far with stellar results and plan to use it on our next Ford project, a 64 Falcon hardtop.

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  12 років тому

    We're sorry to hear that. Thickness matters on spray out. We went to the manufacturers recommendations on it. We have a '65 hardtop in the shop that has no sound barrier and the fastback. Both have headliners in them, we can do a test out and show you that there is a difference, particularly after the headliner goes in if you like.

    i use their industrial product for heat insulating and it rocks. It has save the company thousands of dollars in insulating costs. The best part is that the most complex part can be insulated with ease at a fraction of the cost.

    @crapforbreakfast In actually there was no collusion on our part. We know the product does what we say it does due to prior experience; the video was just a way to show what we've seen from it in the past. Our effort was to illustrate that in the video. We wish we could have done the product better justice in the production of this video. Thanks for your comments. We'll do better in the future...keep watching! =)

  • @AutoRestoMod
    @AutoRestoMod  13 років тому

    @crapforbreakfast Biased? No. It wouldn't matter where you hit the roof; solid or not. As I said it is more about the reduction of resonance than anything else. If we had hit the roof in the middle the sound would have been no different; possibly more amplified, but the resonance would not have changed. Lizardskin kills that resonance.
    I was given the product to test long before I did this episode. We used it on the recommendation of Pantucation and fell in love with it. Its good stuff, Crap.

    True. But we were loath to drop a mallet from a set height over a roof that we'd sanded and primed sanded and primed on for several days. We're just a little nutty that way. LOL

    Can the sound or ceramic be top coated with car pain? Did you have enough sound deadner left over to do the underside with only one bucket?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  7 років тому +1

      Yes, it can be top coated. You can do one bucket if you are smart. Concentrate on high heat areas (Tunnel, seat -pans where the mufflers sit).

      Should I sand the lizard skin down before painting or should I add spray on primer then paint?

    You hit the roof in different places to exaggerate the effects.....hitting in the middle of the roof and hitting near the more structured area by the a pillar....I just applied this and did not get any where near this result from the sound deadener.

      Well I just watched the vid but it still didn't show me what I wanted to know. I wanted to see the difference in decibels before and after the application. Maybe the results were in this vid and I just spaced out and missed it? I don't know. Is the lizard skin sound barrier product worth it or not? Does another similar product like Dynamat do a better job? These are the things I want to know.

    • @AutoRestoMod

      hed420 Check out this video for an inexpensive heat barrier that we tested. ua-cam.com/video/SFIfnA08--g/v-deo.html
      We love the lizard skin for spray into areas that you can't put other products. The Tru Mat in the video we shared is a great covering for floors but a bit too heavy for roofs. We recommend a combo attack of the Lizard skin for roof and covered side panels and Tru Mat for the floor. This should net you a nice quiet and cooler interior (unless you are packing glass packs and a whoppin' big engine).
