A bit of backstory behind this song: Jim Martin had stopped answering calls from the band and not really wanting to take part in as much of the songwriting for this album. It resulted in a bit of an elaborate plot to force Jim back into working. Mike wrote this song after a sleep deprivation experiment where he would take a shower, make breakfast and drink coffee in the middle of the night right before bed time and trick his body into staying awake. These lyrics are the result of extreme sleep deprivation hallucinations and loosely based on issues the band was having with Jim Martin.
@@computerfile the mtv interview with all of the studio footage has him openly calling the stuff they were doing "Circus music" (it kind of is at times).

Angel Dust is Phenomenal. It's crazy that an album that sounded like this was released under a major record label as a follow up to a highly successful album. There are plenty of good songs to pull from it if you ever do anymore FNM stuff. I also suggest The Gentle Art of Making Enemies or I Won't Forget You off of their next album King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime, which is just as good as Angel Dust imo.
From what I read the studio that signed their original contract wasn't so happy with this one. In the US (music industry grind mill that Prince et al were also battling with) FNM / Mike Patton faded out of popularity as no top singles to play all the time. Think this was the first CD i ever bought, still listening to it from time to time. Great album
jaja... my first CD too... 1992
I forgot how Gdamn good this song and the entire album is. Thanks for reminding me it's about to get back into heavy rotation for me :-)
Fuck yes dude! My favotire FNM album. Have this album cover patch on my battle vest haha
Even if you dont react to more from this album, I strongly suggest listening to it when you have time.
Huge Faith No More fan here. You can take quite a journey listening. You should also check out Mike Patton's many other projects. Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Lovage, Fantomas, and so on and on.....
FAITH NO MORE - Smaller and Smaller
cheers!
This is my favorite Faith no more song!
Zang!!!!! Great video. More FNM plz! Highly suggest "Evidence" off of King for a day. Thanks Geebz!
“King for a day…” is a truly underrated album.
It's me again friend. Here to do my daily request of Dog Fashion Disco. A band described as System of a Down and Mr. Bungle/ Faith No More. As I have said before I'm disabled and unable to do the pay to play thing. I'm on a fixed income. I was so happy to see you to be the first person to really react to Dog Fashion Disco. It was awesome to see my favorite reactor react to my favorite band. A member of the actual band put your rection up on his FB channel. That was a song from the early 2000's. I would love to see you react to the new single just released a couple of weeks ago from their new upcoming album release. I'd love to see you react to the genre blending in this new single and I think the band would love it as well. You are highly respected in the reaction community. You are someone who really knows his shit when it comes to the music and you break it down like no other. I'll leave the link below. I hope these come off more charming than annoying because I love this channel. Aloha!!

I'm still here, man! Carefull with the coffee! Awwright!
Faith No More is awesome! Everything on this album and before is fire!
I'm sill here!
I'm still here. Faith No More have so many different varied styles of music, even within each album, but I would use this song as a reference if I had to choose just one. Great choice!
Please do "King for a Day"
It's been a loooong time since I've listened to them... Totally forgot how much similar stuff later bands picked up from them...
I'm still here 👍
And that is a great track. I love seeing you discover some of my favorite FNM songs!
Loved how Mike would scream the "I confess in quicksand" part when they'd play this song live.
Still here, nice to hear your perspective; I can't explain music, I just knows what I like and I likes Faith No More since Epic was released!!💯
It doesn’t get better than this, Geebz!!!
As someone else suggested, "The Gentle Art of Making Enemies" would be a great follow-up reaction. From the following album, which was much more raw, production wise. Would be a good contrast.
Angel Dust is one of the greatest all time albums though, worthy of a full review.
This song is one of 2 that Patton wrote as an experiment. He wrote them after enduring 48 hours of sleep deprivation. I’m still here
I've listened to this song so many times and didn't even notice it went into 4/4! A testament to the brilliance of the song and your reaction to it!
You should keep this rolling forward and try King For a Day off the band's next album. A lot of drama in that one. All of FTM's music is an exercise in collective musical storytelling.
man I been watching your vids for a long time and love the stuff you decide to react to. That said, I just realized I was never subscribed! I'm so sorry, Geebz! I fixed that issue immediately. Thanks for your content and what you do, never stop!
Killer breakdown, thanks Geebz. This is one of my favorite FNM songs, happy to see it covered!
The song Kindergarten from this album is one of my all-time favorites from FNM
Fave album ❤
Let's gooo. One of the best albums of all time. I know Mike Patton has been touched on here but I hope faith becomes a fixture on this channel for the future.
Oops. One of those futures is supposed to be the word staple lol
Angel Dust was the album that regularly provided the relief I needed driving home after working in a nightclub all night. Good memories and what an excellent tune to analyse!
Tomahawk - God Hates a Coward next please 😁
Still here ....
FNM was one of the bands that started my metal listening journey!! One I'm still on, and enjoying with you.
Angel Dust is my go to work out album. Cheers
New Meshuggah single!! “The Abysmal Eye.” Give it a listen!
