Me too. I hit Tom up on every social media platform and plead for him to stop living in the past with old AvA posts but instead to make new memories and tour with a full band again. Preferably, the original lineup, which may be tough. Atom left because Tom didn't want to be a steady band at the time from what I read. Ian is fantastic though so he's just fine back there.

+Noah Sherman atom Willard is a good drummer but he looks alot better to somene who doesn't play drums. If you play drums, then you know most of his stuff is quite easy.
Ya know, seems like people are brainwashed......he can't put vibrato in his voice, he doesn't have a falsetto......so he must not be a good singer. All that doesn't matter, it only matters what is pleasing to each individuals ear. For me, Tom's voice is very pleasing and I love listening to him.
I saw blink last year, i was at the barrier, in front of Tom the whole night, and he sounded fine, the crowd was singing the lyrics back really loudly but he is fine live.

I think he's generally a hit and miss singer - like Ian Brown or Liam Gallagher (sorry I'm British so these two are icons to me) they're hit and miss singers but they have so much confidence and attitude it doesn't bother them and they don't sound horrendous. I think Tom probably gets really self-conscious and frustrated that he's not singing well - just look at him he's not comfortable - so then he gets even worse. Just my thoughts anyway.........
Conall GI I dont get what means "hit and miss", but personally i think that Liam sounds amazing live (at least until 2005), then he didnt did bad, but it was miles from his voice like what it was at Knebworth or Wembley. But i think that now he's getting again a pretty good sound, again, not as good as he was in 90's - early 00's, and not as good as Noel is doing right now (his voice now is fuckin' amazing) Cheers!

Tom never sounds good live and he never will. He has the capability but doesn't use it. He has THE BEST ear for music though! Nobody can make a more inspirational melody than Tom Delonge! I listen to his music all day, it keeps me alive.

And ive seen videos where they tried to use autotune live and it malfunctioned. These Fuel shows are always so hard to watch. Tom is not great live but on all of these shows the sound mixing is WAY off. Vocals need to be toned down a little...on all of them
Love these guys only problem is when you look at a ton of Tom's live performances he has the same voice problems. At least he sounds great on the CD's. Blink and AVA aren't popular because of awesome voices. I have seen bands like Collective Soul live dozens of times and Ed's voice always is amazing. They sound better live than on their albums. That's why they are one my faves! Still enjoy AVA though!
Try jumping around and singing, with loud music, overpowering drums and you can't hear yourself on stage with one monitor. He is good, he does There Is really good. Also it's not "studio magic" that makes his voice good, it's him singing one song NOT jumping around NOT drinking before shows and NOT playing guitar while singing either. Quit judging cause half of you can't sing for crap.
I can't stand mics that sound muffled at live shows. I know Tom has to be annoyed as hell, especially at his hometown. He can't do squat about it until after the show and then he can rip into the shitty ass crew at that shitty venue.

But it's how it is, he is great in the studio after some pitch and tone tricks, but it's not how he really sings, it's a bit fake. And it doesn't help that he is struggling to catch a breath, sounds like he just ran a marathon and tried to sing. Don't get me wrong, I love Tom and his voice, but only on the albums. He's not really a good guitar player live either, more practice man.
It's like Tom lost his balls. He has no confidence on that stage and he can't get the lyrics out. I love the studio versions of these songs, and the band does a good job, but Tom can't replicate the vocals live. Sad, truly sad.

Yeah, it's literally how Tom actually sings but when seen live, the sound is great because the filtering of all noise is non existent and rightfully so. Hence the concert experience. Case in point, listen around 34:22 to Moon Atomic at how horrific the drums sound and how you can essentially only hear Tom and the drums with some minor keyboards. THIS is a classic example of a terrible audio engineer for television. I know quite a few on TV and they would probably laugh their way through this TV mix. In conclusion, yes Tom is rough around the edges and as someone said, when Tom senses he may not sound good, he gets more nervous but I'll bet you if you were there, you'd have a 100% different opinion of the awesomeness of this performance. I love live music when it's raw and unmixed and not that soundboard crap.
