the beach farm is kind of a challenge farm - you can get ocean fish there which is really helpful late at night or early morning, but you can't put automated watering on any of the sandy ground. You will get a patch of brown ground that you can add sprinklers to, but you need to upgrade your tools first. Also - at teh egg festival, buy strawberry seeds, they make bank. till and water some ground first though so you can plant before you go to bed. beach is great if you want to keep animals though, there's a lot of space for coops and barns, and to grow hay on. TIP - Certain quests for some people make it pretty easy to complete even after their shop hours. Clint, for instance, closes his shop at 4 each day. However, he goes to the saloon every evening, arriving about 8 pm, and stays until midnight. You can always turn in quests to him there. Same with Willy and fish quests (his times are a bit different and there are days he doesn't go), but most of the time you can turn them in at the saloon in the evening. A couple small tips for fishing that might help : ) - When the fish is at the very bottom of the bar and you release the button to drop the green bar behind it, when that bar hits the bottom it will bounce and can make you lose the fish. If you click right before it hits the bottom often this will stop the bounce. It takes practice to get the timing right but can really help. - In the instance that there are bubbles that you can't reach like the ones you saw at the dock, if you can fish far enough but it's still 1 off to the left or right (or up & down if you're fishing to the side), you can hold the directional arrow keys and it'll swerve the bobber in that direction. It'll help you reach bubbles you thought you couldn't reach. One other tip: You asked if you can move chests after you put them down. If it's empty you can hit it with a tool and it'll "pop" off and drop the chest as an item to pick up. If the chest has items in it, you can use a tool to hit it or you can use an empty hand (so a blank square on the toolbar) and click your left mouse button repeatedly and it will move 1 space at a time. Both of these use a little bit of energy.
Look for seeds in the ground too. What fish you catch isn't affected by luck. The treasure chests in fishing are though. I fish all the time, it doesn't matter the luck. In the mines, how quickly you find a ladder (usually near the front on good luck), drops from rocks and monsters are affected. However, I have found that gem nodes are more prolific on neutral or bad luck days. I pretty much go to the mines regardless of luck early game. I do watch luck for the mines later in the game.
@@onceuponaplaythrough you have to capture the chest then catch the fish. I usually get the fish close to getting caught then get the chest and go back to the fish.

i would recommend fishing on bad luck days!! luck doesn’t affect the difficulty or catch rate at all to my knowledge. also in my opinion, fishing is the best money maker early game. spending a whole day at the mountain lake can get you ~500g on a bad day:)
I am enjoying your SDV vids! 😊 so many suggestions..so little space 😅 here’s a couple: you can forage spring onions everyday, south of Marnie’s ranch (and then salmon berry season 15th-18th, forage them everyday and you will be set on early game food!). Luck affects so many things, early game luck is good for dumpster diving 😂 check all the trash cans in town on good luck days, you can get some really good stuff! Fishing is best early game money, really the best early game strategy: foraging and fishing and then rainy days for mining (or mining if you have quests) and then when you get to level 6 farming, mine a lot to gather ores you will need for sprinklers. I love Prinkles 🥰 be sure to water and pet her everyday!
There are crops that I recommend getting into the ground as soon as possible, preferably at the beginning of the season. you only have to plant them once. Once they are mature they will continue to produce all season. Corn lasts two seasons summer and fall Spring- green beans and strawberries Summer- peppers, blueberries, corn, hops, summer squash and tomatoes Fall- broccoli, cranberries, grapes and eggplants
Check you out catching all those fish! 🎣 You’re getting good at it! Careful how far you space out your crops. Your scarecrow has a limited range. Always take a couple pieces of food with you into the mine. Check forage before you eat. Some gives no benefit if you eat. Some is poisonous.
Maybe if you go on a good luck day. Hopefully, it's raining. Bring a stack of food such as spring onions, leeks, parsnips, quality chubs, salads. Field snacks are alright, but dont go too crazy. Tree seeds have other uses. Take advantage of salmonberry season. Use your no energy needed sword to bust crates for cave carrots in the mines. Try to avoid the light gray rocks til you upgrade your pick axe. Kill easy enemies on tiles that can spawn a ladder. You will progress. I had a lot of play throughs and want to say i generally go 15-20 floors on day 1 of spelunking. Then grind for the Insect Head as of 1.6. Before going to level 30 and on.
A couple of suggestions- pet you cat daily and give it water it will eventually drop things for you like fish, gems etc. Next talk to Shane every day and give him hot peppers twice a week to build up friendship to level 8 to be able to get Blue Chickens uwhen you have a coop.
I love that you call the junimos jellybeans. I want to do this too. Do not be mad as me. And to get a cat in this game is just wonderfull, pet it every day and it will tell you one day that it loves you. and, it will give you gifts, from time to time. Ones I got the rabbit foot from my cat. that last thing I needed for the community center quest. I love the cats.
In the community center, after you getting that first bundle, there had been new bundle spaces open up, you saw that. One of it is for fish. Start watching, if you go to your menue, you can see a small golden tree at the left side of the monitor. while you are hovering with your mouse over an item in the menue, or an item in a chest AND IT IS ACTUALLY AN ITEM YOU NEED FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER, this small golden tree will blink.... so you see what to bring to the community center.
Man I love watching you figure this out. I have over 2000 hours 😂. So you figuring out how to get field snacks via the pine trees I was screaming “cut it down!!!! He did it!!!” 🎉
TIP - Those wild seeds are great... but they are the forage wild seeds, not domestic vegetables. I've found that the best way to use them is to craft them into seed packages and sell those. 4 spring plants (1 of each forage plant) makes a bundle of 10 seeds, which sells for 350g. (1 horseradish sells for 50g, 1 daffodil sells for 30g (don't eat these... they deplete your energy!), 1 dandelion sells for 40g and 1 leek sells for 60g = 180g if you sell the plants)
You can sell some of the extra things that come from inside geodes. You use earth stones quartz in some Crafting. Luck means you get a greater chance of getting stairs in the mines and a greater chance of getting treasure cheats when fishing. That's about it.
Found you on my recommended page and glad I did. Really love the pace of the video, very chill, calm and comforting vibe to it. Also love how you react calmly when mistakes happen, setting up a great example there. You’re doing great!
its good that you are embracing the bad days with the good. It is a great learning experience and ads flavor to the game because it makes it more real. amen?
I definitely get why some people think fishing can get annoying, but personally, I really enjoy it! It's the one I could spend the most time on out of farming, foraging, or mining. It gets easier to farm fish the more your fishing level goes up and you upgrade your fishing pole and bait. It's also easier to fish from water ripples!
@onceuponaplaythrough For sure! I usually fish once I've done everything else and have some energy to spare. Great way to spend the rest of your energy at the end of a day (imo) to earn some money off of. :) Looking forward to more of your videos BTW! I also think keeping the fishing at the end is a nice addition, along with just talking about your thoughts and plans. (^-^)💕
That plan you have for your garden would be great on any of the other farms... but not on this one. There is a different coloured ground on your farm to the left that will be much better for a large garden... because you will be able to put sprinklers on them once you get to that crafting level. I'd suggest you skip the first sprinklers as they only water four spaces and it's awkward spacing. The second level sprinklers are much better... watering the 8 tiles immediately touching each sprinkler. The third level sprinklers are even better... but you have a long way to go to get the ore for them.
My new favourite Stardew series! 😊 As most people already said: there is no wrong way of playing this game as long as you are enjoying yourself! Missed something that can be only done in spring? No worry, try next year. One tiny tip from me would be to not do what i did in my first playthrough and that was buying too many seeds and trying to tend to very large crop field with starter tools. I spend almost entire spring and beginning of summer tilling soil and watering crops, my character was tired quickly and i had no time to explore the town and valley, and i grew bored and iritated of the game for a moment. The better tools and higher skill level you got , the bigger can your farm be 😁
Don’t forget to go to the community center and turn some of those fish in the fishing bundles and there are no whales to be caught - lol. I love your videos!
I've been seeing this video in my recommendations for a little bit today, but I kept passing over it because I didn't really make the connection that this was you 😂 I am glad that I looked closer and realized it. I love watching you play, it's such a treat. Keep doing your thing!
I feel a bit bad for you... you worry so much about things. One thing about the Stardew community that you may not realize... we're a pretty chill bunch. Chill and patient. This game is about playing it at your own pace in the way that you want. There are no wrong ways to do anything. You miss a quest... no big deal. There's no marks against you. That same quest will come up another time. The people in the community don't even remember they asked for something if you don't finish their quest. A friend of mine from a lo-o-o-ong time back (I'm nearly 75 and she passed away 20 years ago) once told me "There's always tomorrow... and if there ain't, it don't matter." That's this game in a nutshell. Don't worry about what others have done in their game. Play. Learn. Have fun. But never worry about it. You are playing exactly right... no matter how that is.
Hopefully this isn't weird to say but I find your voice really soothing! I really enjoyed this episode and I'm looking forward to joining you again for the next stream. Also I like how Prinkles sounds like a cute combo of two of Angela's cats: Sprinkles and Princess Lady 😂 I used to watch the office every night too, literally for 5+ years that was my going-to-bed routine. And yes, completing a bundle in the community center and getting a cat were both huge achievements for this episode! Excited to see what's next - maybe a backpack??!
I love it! Great name! You're being too hard on yourself, there will be tons of quests you can complete. It takes about an hour to get from the mines to your house from the north which is the quickest route so leave by 1AM, just an FYI. Eventually you'll have alternatives for travel. Carrots are a good source of energy and the field snacks will come in clutch for you now. Fishing isn't affected by luck really, fish, it's such a good money source early game. You're doing fine Rye. I appreciate your work and plan on being at your next stream. P.S feed your kitty
@@onceuponaplaythrough yea, he has a bowl, fill it with water everyday and pet him as well. Building a relationship with your cat has benefits as well 🤗
Because you leveled up one of you skills you get full energy the following day - so even if you pass out, if you level up a skill you'll have full energy the next day.
When I get a quest for coal or ore from Clint, I just straight up buy it from him (he sells Coal etc) then give it back to him and hope the money he gives me covers the cost. I still get to keep the coal and ores anyway so the money is not wasted
🙏Sorry if I'm making too many comments.😃 But you keep saying things... then I want to tell you something. 🤣 Anyway... Fishing.... remember there are 3 types of area to fish-ocean, lake, and river. You get different fish in each area... and different fish in each season in each area. Plus fish for morning, afternoon, and night. So you have to move around to fish. Then there are special fish. I'll let Willy tell you about those. Some fish are for the community centre, others aren't. Later, after you get a kitchen in your house, you can use some fish to cook meals... and those meals can either be sold or eaten... or given as gifts. 😁 😶🌫For me, the frustration of fishing is that I'm old and have shaky hands sometimes. So trying to tap the mouse and keep that tiny bar behind that tiny fish... not so easy. 🙃Other days I'm amazing and catch nearly every fish. So some days fishing is hard and other days it isn't. For me. 😊
@@onceuponaplaythrough sell them, good money BUT keep 5 golden parsnips for a bundle you need and Rye, get a green bean planted ASAP, time is ticking and you'll need one
As far as the fishing chest goes, I suggest putting it further south, in the bushes near the fence at the bottom of the lake. That's a better fishing area, as you don't have the island there and you will reach a higher "fishing zone" and access higher quality fish, with no shoreline or other objects coming near your bobber. I think the chest is probably safe from NPCs where you put it though. Yes, "chests everywhere" is a good strategy, especially when you have a small inventory! I put a chest at the beach too. On the beach to the left of the left-side entrance to the pier, right beside the pier. Nobody walks there. Or you can put it against the cliff at the top of the beach (but Haley sometimes stands near there). Don't worry about not completing a quest. There will be lots more of them. It's tough in the beginning, until you have more sources of energy (hint: carrots). For field snacks, there are lots of pine trees in the forest south of your farm. One shake is enough to find out if a tree will drop a seed without cutting it down. Also, look on the ground on your farm for little lumps that are tree seeds you can hoe up. You can also replant them. Feel free to go fishing on bad luck days. It doesn't affect the fish much, only finding treasure chests. In the mines, the main thing luck affects is finding ladders. So you might need more energy those days to break more rocks. Luck is a guide but don't let it stop you from ever doing anything.
There’s a Stardew Wiki. If you want to look up what anything is in the game. But idk if that feels like cheating or spoilers lol. Scarecrows do go out 8 tiles in each of the four directions (up, down, left, right). It goes one tile shorter in length each row/column from the U-D-L-R. I hope that made sense. Essentially the coverage area a scarecrow has is in a diamond shape.
HINTS - There are a couple of things that you DO NOT give Gunther the "first" of... dino egg and prismatic shard. You can hatch a dinosaur from your first egg (you need a coop) and (once mature) it will lay more eggs that you can incubate to get more dinos (and give one to Gunther). Take your first prismatic shard to the desert (you need to get the bus fixed) to get the best sword (until you get to volcano level).
Re: Space when opening geodes, I typically keep a chest outside of Clint's place (not in walking space of NPCS) to dump stuff in between opening them so I don't have to run all the way to gunther's
@@onceuponaplaythroughyou can even put a chest INSIDE Clint’s shop! I put one on the right side, middle, up against the wall, so I can stash quick and keep opening b4 he closes @ 4pm. You have until 6pm to get into museum, just don’t lock yourself out of Clint’s with your needed stuff inside!
Sorry I keep leaving comments bug meat can be used to craft food for mines also the 3 diff seeds from your farm that make trees can be crafted into food for mines also
You can use the how to get random drops on the floor like clay and coal but on the floor you can sometimes see three dots or three grass moving, that were you should use your hoe most times

There are crops that I recommend getting into the ground as soon as possible, preferably at the beginning of the season. you only have to plant them once. Once they are mature they will continue to produce all season. Corn lasts two seasons summer and fall
Spring- green beans and strawberries
Summer- peppers, blueberries, corn, hops, summer squash and tomatoes
Fall- broccoli, cranberries, grapes and eggplants
U can use the mine cart to travel to bus station near ur home... if u want to travel w/o getting clocked by end of day
In the community center, after you getting that first bundle, there had been new bundle spaces open up, you saw that.
Looking forward to your first egg festival!!
That will be a fun video! I've been curious what actually happens at an egg festival 😅
@ it is one of my favorite festivals in the game
You can sell some of the extra things that come from inside geodes. You use earth stones quartz in some Crafting.
Luck means you get a greater chance of getting stairs in the mines and a greater chance of getting treasure cheats when fishing. That's about it.
Good to know!
Found you on my recommended page and glad I did. Really love the pace of the video, very chill, calm and comforting vibe to it. Also love how you react calmly when mistakes happen, setting up a great example there. You’re doing great!
even with bad luck, fishing is great because even if you only catch 2 small fish, its money. and experience.
aaaah don’t throw the joja cola! it gives you energy and a little speed boost 😅
its good that you are embracing the bad days with the good.
It is so much more rewarding when you get the hang of it! I actually find myself looking forward to fishing
@onceuponaplaythrough For sure! I usually fish once I've done everything else and have some energy to spare. Great way to spend the rest of your energy at the end of a day (imo) to earn some money off of. :)
Looking forward to more of your videos BTW! I also think keeping the fishing at the end is a nice addition, along with just talking about your thoughts and plans. (^-^)💕
The fishing game is not something I find fun, so don't forget crabpots for raising that level and making it a bit easier!
This playthrough is really relaxing and well paced, thank you!
So happy your channel popped up! Love the chill vibes 😊
Thank you sooo much for joining me on this journey!
I like putting my chest next to the elevator in the cave entrance. So I can easily access it every 5 levels. Love your videos! Keep having fun!
you can move your full chests by hitting them with an axe or pickaxe, but it does cost some energy.
I've been seeing this video in my recommendations for a little bit today, but I kept passing over it because I didn't really make the connection that this was you 😂 I am glad that I looked closer and realized it. I love watching you play, it's such a treat. Keep doing your thing!
I'm glad you didnt skip this one!
@@onceuponaplaythrough I'm glad too! Did you change the thumbnail? 😅
If i had to give 1 tip without ruining the experience is to just commit to whatever your daily goal is because the days are short!
You NEED to start bringing vegetables to eat going in to the mine !
I REALLY do!
We can feed our pets?! 😱
@@onceuponaplaythrough yea, he has a bowl, fill it with water everyday and pet him as well. Building a relationship with your cat has benefits as well 🤗
I don't even know why i find this so soothing. Thank you!
Always happy to create a relaxing atmosphere! 😊
Good luck days do your farm chores as fast as you can than head to mines with some food ps get the new backpack dude
Absolutely love the vibes, and I'm really enjoying watching you discover just how deep this game goes.
I especially love the diary format opening!
ref. 21:06 - if he can get one more pink bug squash, he might be able to create a bug steak...?
Because you leveled up one of you skills you get full energy the following day - so even if you pass out, if you level up a skill you'll have full energy the next day.
Sounds like an excuse to stay up late every night 😅
😶🌫For me, the frustration of fishing is that I'm old and have shaky hands sometimes. So trying to tap the mouse and keep that tiny bar behind that tiny fish... not so easy. 🙃Other days I'm amazing and catch nearly every fish. So some days fishing is hard and other days it isn't. For me. 😊
Watching you sell a golden parsnip hurrrttt 😂
Ohh are you not supposed to sell them?!
@@onceuponaplaythrough sell them, good money BUT keep 5 golden parsnips for a bundle you need and Rye, get a green bean planted ASAP, time is ticking and you'll need one
Of course there is always next year, I went into building bundle mode there, sorry about that Rye, 😔
@@onceuponaplaythroughNo don't sell the Gold ones, you'll need at least 5!
To get PINE cones cut down the PINE trees 😊
Who would’ve thought! 😅
you can put water in your cats bowl!!!!!!!
Re: Space when opening geodes, I typically keep a chest outside of Clint's place (not in walking space of NPCS) to dump stuff in between opening them so I don't have to run all the way to gunther's
I’m getting to the point where I’m going to have chest everywhere
@@onceuponaplaythroughyou can even put a chest INSIDE Clint’s shop! I put one on the right side, middle, up against the wall, so I can stash quick and keep opening b4 he closes @ 4pm. You have until 6pm to get into museum, just don’t lock yourself out of Clint’s with your needed stuff inside!
Sorry I keep leaving comments bug meat can be used to craft food for mines also the 3 diff seeds from your farm that make trees can be crafted into food for mines also
Just a little note: the stardew valley wiki will be your best friend and a life saver.
From birthday gifts to where certain fish are.
I've been taking a peak at it here and there!
You can use the how to get random drops on the floor like clay and coal but on the floor you can sometimes see three dots or three grass moving, that were you should use your hoe most times
Hey, for the stardew sunday vods please can you put something in the thumbnail to differentiate it from stardew diaries?
Until you get a better sword, avoid the enemies if you can, and concentrate on getting to the next level.
Zoom out all the way so you can see more forgeable things while you walk around
Not sure if you've mentioned it already and I just forgot, but which mod do you have installed?
Please go get onions from the forest.
A
Also plant the carrots as soon as you get them. They grow super fast and have a lot of energy.
