When i was a small boy my older brother took me to see this movie in the theater. I think it was first movie I ever went to. In that dark theater, looking up at the screen, the stage he was dancing on with that 'twisting' motion, appeared to be 'circular' to me. Combined with, what appeared to me to be back then, the 'black' color of the stage at the bottom of it, my young mind saw an optical illusion...I thought Elvis was dancing on top of a MOVING record album! That's the mental picture I carried in my head until I was in my mid forties. It wasn't until I ran across a wide-shot video of this song on Utube that I understood why my child's mind thought that the stage was a rotating record. His body motion on the round 'black' stage conveyed to me that illusion. I had wondered about that image my whole life until then - I like to keep my audiences RIVETED!!!
