I'm 73 and my grandmother did whatever was necessary to get to his concerts on Daytona Beach in the Bandshell there. Mom often asked why she was doing this "odd thing" of her boss .... a doctor.

@@shari9721 why you doing yourself like that ..... listen dale earnhardt died on my bday when i was very young not only that i was sitting in turn 3 at daytona 4 rows up directly infront of where he hit racing is in my blood and that was verry traumatizing hell my dad cryed for 3 days i didnt even eat my cake that year but do you think for a second i ever let it stop me from trying to go fast or that besides that one time that id let it rob me of another birthday hell no burn outs for dale every year...... but if dale would do burnouts what would elvis do.... ill tell ya hed party so long that youd end up with a 3 day long birthday if not for you do it for the king you know hed want it party like a legend next year and know your doing his memory justice

All these singers were very good, number 2 was exceptional. Elvis has inspired many generations and still is. He was so loved and still touching lives even though he was one of a kind. Trying to describe Elvis is futile . He was so special and yet so common at the same time. He never forgot were he came from.

I was 10years old and remember just bawling because my dreams as a child had died. I wanted to be his wife until I found out about Lisa Marie and realized that couldn't be but I wanted to see him ....just one time. I STILL have seen many handsome men but NOONE compares to the King. He was walking, talking charisma and machismo...
I saw him in concert near the end he had to read sheet music before he could even sing the song he had just recorded and the women were shouting oh Elvis and I was going what the hell are you doing to yourself because he wouldn't even gyrate anymore he was so fat and that was what he became famous for

I remember thevery next morning after his death i was only 8 years of age and the news of him was everywhere even people in the streets stopped and mentioned his demise something out of the norm from where i lived the older generations at the time looked like 1940s throwbacks and only spoke about work,the music industry has missed him there can never be another like him. RIP. ELVIS PRESTLEY.

It is possible to capture that special magic he had once upon a time in one's voice and definitely at least two of these people have NAILED IT. Elvis may be gone, but his voice rings on in the mouths of those with the ol' Rock and Roll SOUL.

@@glenearl9506 He did a few covers at the start of his career, but most of his songs were originals, written and composed for him by people he collaborated with. The fact that he was not the author doesn’t make these songs covers.

His producer signed contracts with lyricists and composers to write songs for him. They weren’t covers bc they were not song by another singer before him. That’s what defines an original song.
A cover is taking a song that’s been recorded previously by another artist and make another version of it. He did some covers before he had the means to pay for original songs.

as a long time elvis fan i am hard to please when it comes to imitators and wannabes. i was going no. nope. noooh. i don't think so - all through this; until i got to the very last one. finally someone who's not imitating (and failing), he's just someone who wants to sing a song, and he does it with a beautiful voice and in his own, unique style. a couple of brownie points for the guitar handling. him i would love to hear more from. any kind of music. 👍
