Thank you sir. Dealing with my 04 RL 252k miles.. U helped me do timing belt and cam plugs confidently. These cars are not so scary once you dig in a little bit. The dash wiring though, that's another story.
I have a white 2000 Acura rl and I would love to get in touch with you about some of the problems this is my first Acura so I’m seriously looking for info anything helps I’m having these same problems and I’ve been following along your journey
And what the purpose of applying seal to bottom of rocker and top of the heads does it leak oil out there as well? Im currently doing my valve cover gaskets because engine has been smoking from under valve cover on passenger side, seems to be coming up more heavily on the back side .
Ben, thank you for this video! Is it possible to remove rocker arms for replacement of hydraulic lifters without removing camshaft? 1 or 2 lifters are ticking from time to time...Thank you!
Yes, the rocker assemblies can be removed without removing the camshafts - timing belt needs to come off, though. I would give an additive a shot if you haven't done so already. I've seen mentions of using a can of Restore along with changing the engine oil and filter to eliminate lifter tick. Liqui Moly Hydraulic Lifter Additive seems to have high marks, also.
I've heard it's not fun. I've removed just about every component required to get to the oil pan, but I've never had to reseal the oil pan. My RL's oil pan appears to be leaking, so I may record it. Not sure when I'll get to it, though. I stored the factory service manual here if you want to tackle the job: www.mediafire.com/file/uvbmryok1ax4vbs/Acura_RL_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281996-2004%2529.zip/file

Are the torque specs the same for 94 Acura legend? I thinking about attempting to replace passenger side cap. I replaced valve cover gasket last year and still noticed leak i thought oil stop leak would work but didn't. Is there something I can use to stop cap from leaking without replacing it?
I believe the specs are the same. I've stored the factory service manual here: www.mediafire.com/file/zgwejjzmagnvytr/Acura_Legend_Sedan_-_Factory_Service_Manual_%25281991-1995%2529.zip/file You could try cleaning around the cap with a degreaser while the engine's cold then apply some RTV. Someone suggested using Permatex UltraBlack, since it has higher heat resistance.
@@zackwarfield2345 It sounds like the starter is faulty, especially if you listen closely and the click makes a metallic sound. You can try quickly turning the key in the ignition - has worked for me on occasion. If you can reach the starter with a long screwdriver or pry bar, you could try tapping on it then try starting the car - this worked for my CR-V before I was able to replace the starter.
@@zackwarfield2345 Hmm. You could try graphite powder in the ignition switch to see if that frees up the cylinder - normally available at the hardware store. This doesn't sound like your issue, but it may be useful info: honda.oemdtc.com/237/information-about-the-immobilizer-system-1996-acura-rl

Also do you have a video replacing the starter
No, I haven't done a starter video yet. I keep putting it off because it only gives me trouble during the summer.
Do you do this same process on both sides? Or just on drivers side?
There's a plug on the passenger's side, also. The passenger's side plug on this car wasn't bad, so I decided to do it later.
@carapprentice so id lift the rocker assembly to access it and then apply seal to the bottom of rocker all the same?

@@MidWesOutdoorZ Yes, the process is the same.
@@MidWesOutdoorZ The sealant has to be applied at the specific locations I showed to prevent leaks; they're more vulnerable areas.

Differential has to be removed to gain access to the pan
All this work for a cam plug??? Just crazy...
Yeah, it's a bit much.

Hey I got a 1999 Acura rl it won’t crank or start not sure what’s going on
Does it just click and do nothing else? If so, it could be the starter. Battery have proper voltage? Any check engine?
@@carapprentice yes I just bought a new battery and fuse it still doesn’t crank just clicks once
