Q: And the engine mount type?
A: Front, centre and rear mounted engine.
Q: And where does the driver sit?
A: The driver hangs off the rear of the engine somewhere behind the rear axle.
    What a ride!

You don't make any sense. The 911's are famouse for having the engine mounted behind the rear axle. This to be anti porsche should have the engine mounted in front of the front axle...

@@NoMoreMrNiceGuy223 no no no, it's an anti-porche because the driver and the dngine has swaped places, A porsche (911) has the engine behind the rear exel and the driver inbetween the axels. This has the engine inbetween the axels and the driver hanging on for dear life behind the rear axel. A car with the engine in front of the front axel and the driver inbetween the axels, now that would be an AUDI, they love their engines as far infront as possible, but i'd argue thas not an "anti-porche", i'd say its an backwards-porche👍

Nope. Porsche was about removing everything that needn't be there, and maximizing everything that's left. If anything, these were Proto-Porsche.
Proto-American Hot-Rod too, in a slightly more direct way. Biggest power, lightest body.

I was just driving my 2000 Escalade. at start-up there are chimes that make it impossible to hear the engine. too much insulation. no feel. 90mph isn't a thrill, it just is 90 mph. no sound but the sterio system.... sigh.... I am bored with driving in that thing..
i get in my battered '92 toyota pick up with its rattles and its worn out exhaust. and I wish I still had my old '57 chevy pick up.

The heavy patina on the GN Jap at 1:15 is fake. The JAP engine is from the era but the body down to the wooden chassis rails is modern, not a copy of a particular car from that era but a vehicle put together using a lot of period parts from a GN that certainly has the feel of an actual pre WW1 car that never actually existed. This comment sounds negative, not my intention, I think the builder (Richard Scaldwell) should be congratulated on a brilliant job. Much better those parts went into this creation than gathering dust in a museum (and I'm a big fan of museums too).

Now Saab is sort of around making lack luster electric cars nobody wants under the name, "National Electric Vehicle Sweden." They make an electric vehicle based on the 9-3 without the Saab name.

Yeah immersive experience. Why not sit on a diesel engine of an old leyland truck or bus.
These cars are nothing but engine with seat and tyres.
How the hell are they allowed on road.
Looking at those torque figures they are more coffins with a speedometer

As some pointed out, some of the figures seem to be "too optimistic". But woning such a vehicle is about feeling the car and actually driving it, not 0-60 times or such. A very interesting video, thank you for sharing with us!

Some of those things have to be nearly impossible to find outside of museums

Yea...., but where are the cup holders and the tablet usb sockets?
The history channel needs to do a 1 hour special on each one of these cars. These are cars ive only seen in books; good stuff, need more. These are the purist versions of a GT; no standards, no limitations just build it and may the best man win.
Brings up thoughts of "The Great Leslie" movie or the american cartoon Tom Slick, or Catch That Pigeon?

That's the same reason Lewis Hamilton had his car impounded by the Australian police after leaving the Melbourne Grand Prix once - 'losing control of the vehicle' when the tyres broke traction. Then he had to appear on Australian TV and apologise for driving dangerously. Bonkers!
