Since I started pottery in 1964 there have been so many strides forward. I watch all and any UA-cam videos and I will always learn something new. I have been potting since 1964 and I am still loving the process and learning.Pottery whether you have practised for one day or 40 years, there is always something new.
“Potters be slammin’!” 😂 I want the tshirt. 11:04
I love this! Reclaiming clay was the main reason I love clay so much. If I don’t love it I reclaim it even if it is bone dry. Thank you so much for sharing this. My reclaim bucket is 5lt as I only have a small unit. I do use a pillow case as I put the clay in the pillow case on the plaster slab. Makes it easier to flip 😊
Best way by far 👍 I use a large plaster bat I made in a cardboard box! Being nearly 50 and been doing pottery over 25 years…. I will use power tools to mix and slam wedging as my body aches these’d days!! Pottery can be quite harsh in one’s body over the years.
This tutorial was awesome! Thank you
I'm so glad you all just put it into one bucket too, that's how I instinctively started doing it!
Running fingers down the cross section of the reclaim block to test how blended the layers are is an excellent tip! Thank you for the awesome video!
Love your editing. You make great content. Enjoyable and informative. ❤
its the way i do it lol. the best part i like about reclaiming is that its free clay. years ago i would of thought it out. i know not good. i learned that my profits are in reclaim. thanks for sharing.
Picked up some pre-made plaster bats today from my local in Seattle. Was ready to cast them myself, but the material cost was not far off and not having to wait for them to dry fully was a bonus. Now drying out my first batch of reclaim, and excited to see how it goes! Spoiler: watching doesn't make the clay dry faster!
I love working with reclaim (because centering that beautiful clay is so easy most of the time!!) that I sometimes feel sad opening a new bag of clay BUT I also love working with a new bag of clay because I don't have to wedge because I'm too broke for a pug mill nor do I have the space!! :) Always looking forward to your Sunday videos!! :D
This is perfect timing as I’ve got a bucket of reclaim to use up! Thank you!
I slam in smaller layers - helps to avoid carpal tunnel. Wedging kills me sometimes
Great philosophy. Simple + easy.
Totally agree with you about the silly pillowcase method. After trying it twice, I realized how much extra work was involved over the simple scoop onto a plaster bat system. 😁
This was extremely timely. I appreciate your outlook and philosophies, many thanks.
thanks for sharing super helpful, totally going to use this next time i reclaim clay :)
Spot on! I’ve been doing this since I started working with Clay! Am I lazy? Am I efficient? I won’t even judge myself on this, but I do know that it’s easy, and that is what I am after! Thank you for sharing this.
I’ve always done it this way because I thought it was strange to dry then wet it again 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Then when it’s mixed and wet I make colored clay with some of it while it’s really soft and mixable. 😎
Rather than a plaster bat (which is too involved for me to make), I've been using a piece of drywall. It works very well. Cheers.
Potters be slammin' 😂🙌
Love the tips! I try to follow this method but i keep running into a problem. Why does my reclaim always start to stink!? Halp.
Nice
Thanks Lilly, good timing. How did you attach the casters to your bins? Love your videos!
They’re ikea bins and you can buy the casters which attach 🥰
looks guiltily at my many many buckets of reclaim.
What can too dry green clay do?I have a 3 litter kiln. Tooth and nail to get life... to a bigger kiln. I'm getting their?
yes.
I love the squish squish of the hand, its my therapy
You let your clay sit?

Slightly wedge
Personally as someone who just generally finds all thoughtless/needless wasting of resources to be extremely irksome, regarding ceramics my prefered method tends to be reclayming it.... .. .
Lol
That’s wedging. It’s been done since the beginning of time.
Great tips, hard to watch, just clip the mic onto your dress or something and dial down the woke please, for your own good.
