- Today’s project is a “ Spice Shaker” ONE PIECE style.
Japanese have many specific pots which have a dedicated purpose.
That’s why the Japanese kitchen cupboard is full of tableware .
This is one of them we use for “Seven Flavors Spice”.
You can use it for Sea Salt or mixed herbs also.
This will be a cute accent on the dining table.
300 g stoneware sanded buff clay.

It is so interesting how your approach to teaching is as clean as the items you create. By clean I mean clean lines. I began watching your videos because of a desire to produce exquisite pieces. You continue to deliver and I continue to learn. 🙏🏼
Thank you Sapphire😊. Posting videos is lonely work but when I receive the comments like yours I feel fulfilled and carrying on to the next video. Thank you for your support!
I was looking for something new to make ! Thanks, I always enjoy watching you work. I learn a lot.

Thank you Sylvia😊. I’m glad my videos are useful for other potters.
I absolutely love this design, you are so skilled - thank you for sharing. An excellent thing about this design is that you can turn and close the lid from the air, unlike other shakers. I really like your approach to glazing, I wonder how you achieve this effect to show the clay underneath with such crisp lines and shapes. Best wishes, Malcolm.
Nice to hear from you Malcolm😊. I used narrow masking tape and peal it off carefully. Need to choose “ Not Runny Glaze” .
Thank you for your clear instruction. I look forward to trying your method. The jars are lovely.
Thank you for your comment 😊. Please make a groove wider then the jar will hold the lid well.
This was a great video with very useful tips.❤ Thank you very much. Your pottery is very beautiful. ❤

Thank you Lisa😊 Glazing is one of the techniques people can’t create same results as there are so many factors involved with. But I want to show as the idea what we can do with the glaze.

bravo et merci!
Merci pour votre comment 😊
I love how you use wax resist for decoration. Really smart. Love the results.
Thank you for your comment Judy😊. Those void decorations are done by masking tape. Masking tape can make clean edges.
Oh I love these! I'm going to give it a try. I will have to warn people to hold their finger on the top so it doesn't shake off also. Thank you for a great explanation for making the spice shaker.
Thank you for your comment Miranda😊Try to make a groove very wide to keep a lid on the body. It is more challenging but fun!
You have been an inspiration for me. I have tried some of your projects. I love learning from your videos. My question is: do you glaze the inner rim of these pieces?
Thank you for your question😊. I fire the pot with lid on. so the join part is waxed well. The inside is glazed, but extra wiping for the lid and body joint part. Please use not runny glaze.
勉強になります😊
そう言っていただけるととても嬉しいです☺️ コメントは励みになりますので、頑張れます。
Also nice glaze besides ...
Thank you Andrea😊. One day I’ll include how I glaze. It just take too long to edit the video 😅
When you glaze do you add a spacer (I.E. wadding) to lift the lid or just be extra careful around the lips?
Thank you for your question James😊. I don’t use a spacer. I use wax for the joint and clean the area very well.
thank you!@@AlchemyCeramic
