This approach is working for me with CFS. Deep childhood wounds that I had buried for years. It's called tension myositis syndrome if you want to read up more on it.
You have to do it constantly. When symptoms arrive you don't react to them with as much fear and always think emotionally not physically. Usually the triggers are quite obvious when you figure it out. For me the core fear is from abandonment trauma.
@@Josh-if7toi have had great benefit from NET kinesiology to clear trauma. It's blown my mind. No hard work from me, just knowing what I needed to reset and choosing the statement. "I am okay with..". Some people think its wooey but I think everyone should try it.
I would warn anyone with trauma or Cptsd to seriously not do istdp. It made me far worse and retraumatized me. It’s not a good theory for people with trauma because first of all, fast therapy is the opposite of what someone with trauma needs, a healthy secure connection over time, and also it tries to push you into anger and trigger this which can cause huge massive nervous system dysregulation if it doesn’t feel safe to do so. Be warned
I'd suggest finding a Narm therapist as they honour the fact that disassociation serves a purpose and can help you become more resourced and never push you into feelings that would retrigger you
This is great!! I have heard a lot about John Sarno. I think it’s time to get the book. Doug I am ready! I would love to connect. I’m much better. Actually thought I was 90% better but after watching this and realizing how my other symptoms/pains are so connected I think I’m more like 70% there. Im really ready to dive in and go the rest of the way!!
I would recommend his newest book, The Divided Mind, there's a lot more information in it and it also addresses other health issues than just pain. I'm not even half way into it and it has helped me a lot already.
So "if you *believe* enough, it will work - and if it doesn't work, then you didn't *believe* enough"?! Telling a victim of this horrible disease that "you don't believe enough" is nothing but victim blaming - the last thing a genuinely ill person needs. It's just another way of saying "it's all in your mind." Or "it's all your fault". 😨 For those of us suffering with *real, severe ME/Cfs* this 'treatment' of gradually *pushing oneself* more and more, is not helpful, but is instead actually *harmful* . In real ME/Cfs, over-exertion always leads to crashes, with symptoms flare ups, and even long term setbacks. And telling a person ill with *real ME/Cfs* that it's all about their pent up emotions - that's very insulting.

It's not your fault, it's not any of our faults. I understand how you feel but it's a nuanced difference and there's no blame here. Our body and brain are actually doing a kind thing trying to protect us in a challenging world ❤ If you feel this strongly maybe sit with the concept for a while. Sending big hugs xx

I have been 70% recovered for a long time and I really would love to make the final step and be fully better! We can do this guys!
What did you do to reach 70% recovered? I'm feeling stuck!
Thank goodness for the late Dr. Sarno!!!
Absolutely wonderful interview! The work of Dr John Sarno was incredible!

A good therapist - also an ISTDP one knows where the threshold is and can guide you safely through
I hadn't come across this approach before -- thanks so much for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Really good interview. Thanks Raelan and Doug.

Thanks to u both! Muzzy sound though
What is ISTDP? I didn’t hear the full name mentioned and it’s not written in the blurb.
ISTDP - Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy
Thanks for the question ❤️ We've added the full name under the video.
13:08 emotional causes behind pain
How does one find out about ISTP?
He didn't just read the book. He found a therapist too.
What's the book called? I didn't hear you mention it by name.
The Mindbody Prescription by Dr. Sarno
Read it, you will be amazed!

@@medusaslair Yes, great idea! I have bought it, but I haven't read it yet, as I was quite busy.

Vicious, not viscious.

Viscous :)

Raelyn got us a great interview here, too bad we have to see this bullying comment in the discussion!
