This video is an overview of using the Electric Eel Wheel version 3. It is an electric spinning wheel that converts raw sheep, alpaca, or goat roving into yarn.
I tested over 10 different motors and in my opinion this was the best suited for the electric eel wheel. As for the cost of assembly, I make $0 extra off the assembled version. The full $30 goes to a local guy I use for assembly. Sure assembly in China would have been less, but for this project I decided to support the local economy in here in Massachusetts.
I just received my eNano, I am so excited. Thank you so very much for getting it to me so very fast, I was thinking it was going to be at least a month or two, instead it was about a week. God bless you...
Hi, Maurice. My wife is a fiber artist who has been spinning fiber for a little over 10 years - both hand spindle and spinning wheel (she has a Kromski Symphony, which she loves.) I've checked into building an electric spinner for a friend of hers who has no use of her legs. Simply put, even building one from scratch, I just can't compete with your pricing. I've referred her to your web page and this video. You really have a nice product here. Thanks!
Hi, Maurice and better half. I noticed your Version 3 Large Eel Wheel and the flyer parts looks different than the 5.1 I have. Should you put oil on the version 5.1, 5.2 etc., or the Mini Eel Wheel (which I have 3 of) where your wife placed oil in this video?
None of those require oil, but you can optionally add candle wax were things rub on them to reduce noise and friction. The reason I suggest candle wax is because it's less messy, but oil would work too.
You know, what's strange is that I looked back at your site and the price of your wheel and have not one clue why I thought the price point was high at all. I actual have no idea what my past self was thinking. I do know that I wasn't being critical about the price of assembly. Most products charge almost double for an assembled product. I regret not looking more into this as it is a FANTASTIC product. I will be buying one as soon as my tax return comes in. Sorry for the past comments. Again, I have NO idea what I was thinking.
I love the idea however, for the price, I would expect a motor with a bit more torque to keep the noise level down. Also, I was astonished to see the price difference between an assembled one and a kit (~$30).
I don't think you'll find any kind of electric spinner for the price of an Electric Eel Spinner. I've been looking into them for as least as long as Maurice has been developing this spinner, and I don't think you'll find anything for even close to the same price that will even touch this one.
Really wish you'd gone slower over both assembly & drafting to the 'Sweet Spot'. Also, the camera wasn't always on the subject being discussed. Otherwise, Congratulations on refining the 3rd model & getting it laser cut !

This is a very cool design, I'm really impressed with the concept. I imagine if I ever want to spin my own yarn this is the first place I'd look!

I'm on the waitting list for one of these love to give up my old wheel as my hip hates it.
Hope this is happening soon Rose

How much is it? Also, is there an spinner without the foot pedal? I'm disabled n i cant use my feet.
Maurice, noticed you are out of stock. Any indication as to when you will have new stock in?
I'm working on an updated version. Hopefully it will be ready in a few months, but it may take longer depending on various factors.
Maurice Ribble Ok ...well keep us posted dude!
Hello! I would ask if this electric spinner has a ply option. Thank you.
Yes, it supports plying. The main requirement for this is it can turn forwards or backwards. All this requires on the EEW is a turn of the dial.
When will these be available to purchase?
