- This episode shows how to spin yarn on an electric spinning wheel, but the lessons shown here apply to other spinning wheels.
This video covers these spinning basics:
1) Threading a lead string
2) Adjusting speed
3) Adjusting tension
4) Holding and feeding the fiber onto the bobbin
5) How to recognize properly twisted yarn
For more information about the spinning wheel used in this video check out the Electric Eel Wheel 5 here: www.dreamingro...
You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for your work!
Very instructive demo. Just received my wee Eel and am so excited to get going. Would you please show how you slide the yarn hooks. It says to squeeze the top and bottom but ... they are holding firm and I am nervous about forcing anything because this is all new. Once again -- THANKS!!!
There is no squeezing. It's more of a just push the hook on the top and bottom. When it's new they sliding action might be a little stiff.
Just got my wheel and cant get the yarn to feed in, it seems I am over spinning, but I started my tension at O and turned it up a bit, and the twist did travel up fast, but it doesn't feed in, what am I doing wrong? Help please.
Try adding a little more tension. If that doesn't help the yarn might be getting hooked on something. This can happen if the yarn is over spun because that causes it to get kinks in it which prevent it from going onto the bobbin.
Hello and thank you for the video. Approximately how many ounces and or yards does that bobbin hold?
I do spin thinly. I have one of these coming I just wondered more about it. Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to use.
They hold at least 5 ounces. If you spin thin yarn then they will probably hold a little more than that.
Ecellent video! I got my Eel and started to spin asap and realized I needed a bit of instruction. This demonstration really helped. Thank you for being so proactive with your product!
