This is just a long audio clip of some background white noise from my recent trip to the library. This was recorded with a blue snowball mic on it's omnidirectional setting on a Sunday afternoon as I worked on my dissertation at the public library. Lots of page flipping, typing, sighing and people doing things near by. Enjoy!

Candace Robinson - There are a lot of other good videos like this. Look up "ASMR," which is a category/genre of videos that make you feel like you're in another place! I especially like the Harry Potter ones because the videos make you feel like you're in a room/scene from the movies. They are really comforting when you're home alone. There are a lot of good nature videos, too, like videos of the interior of a cabin during snowfall!!
My daughter likes to hear me roam around the household when shes gone to bed. Sometimes I do not have any chores and just want to read my e-mails. I put this on with it and have my peace and she has hers.

ThatFinnishKid27 That's true. Sometimes I wish the stereotypical strict old lady who sushes everyone who makes a noise actually existed in every library. Most libraries, as they are now, are not strict at all and it doesn't make any difference to anyone whether people walk on their toes and whisper or throw a concert loud enough to break every window... It's kinda sad.
Might be 2 years late - but i agree with this sentiment.
Went to my local town-library expecting to help a mate study and study for an exam myself but was extremely disrupted by a schoolgirl and her friends who were everywhere, eating, being distracting, moving about, speaking really loudly, ignoring instructions of the library staff. I was completely unable to learn properly for my exam.
Learnt better at home than at the library. My school library is closed during the hours I'd like to study and i have not yet come across a uni or college campus in my area that has a library for the public - else i'd like to have gone checked that out instead :)
Ok, this dude isn't reading he's tearing papers out of a book. And I swear he put a crumbled piece in his mouth and chewed it.
Must be finals week.

some of these comments seriously crack me up. but this is my favorite library video to listen to when I do hw. I have a few others that I listen to on occasion, but I definitely prefer this one. And a lot of people are saying that a library is more quiet than this, but I disagree. At my college there are two floors in the library, the "quiet" floor which allows very minimal noise and talking because its for studying only, then they have the other floor which people can work together on projects, use the computer, etc etc. So not all libraries are dead silent. when i am in the not-quiet section of my school library I hear lots of stuff: phones vibrating, pages turning, people typing, people talking, people eating. that's why i really like this recording.

This is so perfect for doing my reading for school. I usually listen to music and nature sounds, but there distracting while I read. This is perfect. It reminds me of a library (obviously) And makes me feel like I'm in one which helps for some reason . Have a great day ya'll

Finding this was the best thing that happened to my life. I'm serious! Best video to play while studying. I've used this video about 22 times now(and counting). As I have to thank Duff for posting this, I can at the same time congratulate the people searching for this. Smart way of getting focused if you ask me, many others choose more distracting background noises like music with lyrics ;)

I've used this to study for years, and now come to appreciate it even more after listening to a recently new "library ambience" track. The occasional page flip, writing, and whiteout tape(?) in this one is sooo much better than a constant buzz of white noise. Would give another thumb up if could!
I was struggling so bad and couldn't focus, but these back ground noises helped me relax and start to write my essay. Thank you for taking the time to record these noises and share them with us!

I am studying for the HK diploma of second education exam, this white noise does help my concentration and in the study mode. It some how makes me feel like I was siting in an exam hall, so than I wont feel unfamiliar nor nervous when I am writing my exam.

This was great, and put me to sleep, up to about the 1:08 mark when this "ding-dong-ding-dong" of the library announcements scared the crap out of me and woke me up! If you could edit that out, it would be wonderful. :)
Wow. I've tried studying to the sound of nature, classical music, classic jazz.......watching Law and Order...but THIS helped me the most!!
I use this while studying for an exam in order to get used to the background noises so that I will not get disturbed duringn the actual exam. Also some of the noises are very relaxing and remind me of ASMR. Great video thank you!

I think this is why I rather study with a small group of people than alone. Not because I can talk to them or something, but because of the "Sound of Company" So you can get in the right mood for studying and so you don't get easily distracted by random things.

I never used the university library's open spaces. There was just too much distraction. Instead, I used the individual study carrels which were located among the stacks.
I am most distracted when I am alone. This helps.
