Does this still have the stock gearing? As for shocks, pretty much anything that works is better than old worn out shocks that don't :) But definitely keep the air bumps in back. The coil setup in back of that isn't bad, but they easily bottom out.
Do you plan on getting rock sliders?? As far as suspension, I'd suggest fox. (if its in your budget even the full front coilover conversions, otherwise they have just the struts) I really would be curious to see how they handle for you. I really want to get them, but i dont do as serious as off road as you do. As for the 37s, how are the clearing behind the front tires on the fenders? Im running 33s with a leveling kit and they are nearly hitting with a -12 offset. There must be some sort of trimming on that fender pinch weld? Also on the drivers side theres a bundle of wires that run down that weld as well. were those moved? Also what type of front bumper is that? Custom or can it be purchased online? Love the truck setup and great content wish you were able to upload more than you already do!
Thanks! Yes I do plan on finding some rock sliders for it even though the rockers are already trashed. All of the wiring and the pinch welds you mentioned are stock, no modifications. I'm not sure how the offset you mentioned compares to the 4.75" backspace to the current wheels but I get lock to lock steering without hitting body parts. The bumper that is on there was built by Randy Ellis Designs so long ago that I'm not sure it is a readily available unit but they still make things for these trucks. Thanks for the input on what you'd like to see suspension wise... I'm still doing the research!
white-knuckleoffroad.com/ram1500.html White Knuckle makes a pretty decent rock sliders for the rams. Now I see their website says 2014 and up and yours is a 2009, would be interesting to see if they are different if even at all. But I sure you know some guys that can fab you up some custom sliders. They have some different options and its fairly priced considering the market for trail ready-supplied ram gear is very limited. Also a 17x10 with a 4.5in back spacing comes out to be a -25mm offset. So fairly aggressive. So that makes me curious with mine and how much more I can push the limits.
I vote you do a rebuild of what you have. I like the trucks low center of gravity on big tires look. Maybe make a video on how to rebuild those reservoir shocks?
According to mopar VIN lookup I have solid front and rear axles but yet I have the same front stock setup as you do. I thought when you have lower and upper control arms that means it's an independent suspension? Can you help clarify?
If you have suspension like this truck, you have independent suspension. A solid front axle is easy to spot by looking very similar to the rear axle and control arms there.
With bolster adjustable 5100's set at max height and bolstering 1.5 rear lift coils could I run this exact tire and wheel setup? Wheels would have 0 offset and the same 37 wild peaks. With off-road front bumper ofcourse for clearance issues
love the content and looooove this truck but i have a random question.. what kind of mileage do you get? im strongly considering getting a new truck soon and this truck is absolutely beautiful to me. my current truck only gets 12 babying it.
What was done about the wiring harness and big, bulky connector directly behind the drivers front tire (against the firewall)? I run a 295/65/20 STT Pro (just a bit over 35") and I'm worried I would take that out with anything more. Also, those Edlebrock shocks have to be a little longer than stock in addition to the 1" preload adjustment. I'm guessing you are close to 4" of total lift in the front which is still impressive to stuff 37s. I'm planning a very similar lift, but probably don't have the balls to go 37s...for clearance and gearing reasons. Thanks for the vids and love that new Hemi.
The TRX was a little higher than the standard 4x4, ~3" from what I understand, so only 1" lift from there would be about right. I just know there was no way 35s (let alone 37s) were going on mine with only 1" of lift.
Thanks! I'm not sure the TRX has that much lift. Even with the larger tires this truck sits only 2" taller than my friends stock 4x4 Ram. Yeah, I was worried about the ECM being exposed like that but the weather proof connectors must work really well because there haven't been any issues yet!
Obviously you have the fiberglass front fenders, did you get the rears as well? and how did you install them, ie* did you use a donor bed and rip the metal sides off ?
@@AutoEdits Now ive look alittle closer, i do see its stock. Im surprised that 37s fit and have enough travel room without rubbing. Is the main factor allowing those tires then the aftermarket suspension? Im only asking because I have a 2013 ram 1500 and Im about to upgrade to alot of items such as Z36 brakes, suspension (ICON stage 2 prob), and aftermarket Upper/ Mevotech Lower control arms.
The suspension doesn't really change or offer much clearance... what they did do is rip out the inner fender plastic and remove the stock front bumper... those are big things. Plus, I ordered wheels with the perfect backspace from TR Beadlocks secure.trbeadlocks.com/index.aspx Give Larry a call and ask what that is ... I forgot. You will love the Z36 brakes and the Mevotech stuff. This truck drives better than a brand new truck.
As always great video and love seeing the upgrades and performance of them.? By the way I did the same as you I got the Tom Woods driveshafts for my JKUR thanks for passing on the savings.
I think Kibbetech worked on a few 1500 Rams, king coilovers up front, bypasses in the rear I think, either way it was killer. Overkill for all the other components as well.
Man what mods did you make to this truck? What's the gearing? I just put 37s on my 2019 1/2 ton Trail Boss and everything I read says the truck can't handle that size tire and will break into a million pieces haha. Some people say it'll be fine if I never take it offroad, but that defeats the purpose. I see you running this truck pretty hard with no issues, so I'm curious as to what your take is on the wear and tear of 37" tires on a 1/2 ton? Thanks!
So you have a great rebuilt engine and great wheels and tires. I think the Icon kit would be a great addition! You should upgrade the headlights and taillights with some cool LED's. After that, a new pre-runner front bumper like N-FAB RSP PRERUNNER FRONT BUMPER or Addictive Desert Designs STEALTH FRONT BUMPER, nice chase rack, and some LED off-road lights for the cab and bumper.
I'm just wondering what sort of gas mileage you get with the truck given the new motor, exhaust and big tires? Love the truck and all the videos, look forwards to them.
Thanks! This truck has 5.13 gears in it and that is way too much gear.... it needs a 4.88 to be right. So around town it gets 12 and on the highway it gets 14... not great.
Yo Jason, great job! Come on over I’m gonna try your video on for size with my Ford Expedition. Stuff some 37s in there. So just remove all the wheel well weather crap and it just might work! 💪😃🤙
That's a tough question. Let me get a few more miles on the Falkens before I make a a clear "winner". The BFG's on the Jeep were all around amazing but I have to say for the brief amount of commuting and hot dogging with the Falkens... new champion so far.
Love it. Almost turning it into a ram runner. And as far as suspension ever heard of dirt king? Also the company prefix owns the rights to the old kore suspension. They do sell it seperatly for around 6k but the dirt king goes for 2k.
If you do go with new suspenders, I would love to get an honest opinion from some one who has actually gone off road with "near" stock and then went custom!

The truck sounds awesome when the throttle is pegged.
I agree!!!
love the content and looooove this truck but i have a random question.. what kind of mileage do you get? im strongly considering getting a new truck soon and this truck is absolutely beautiful to me. my current truck only gets 12 babying it.
Around town I get 12 but combo with highway is around 14
autoedit hey thanks man.
My favourite rig..ever!!
LOL... Thanks!!!
Why would you even say this? Stock fenders on this truck.
@@AutoEdits awesome, thanks for the info. Love the vids!
awesome video , you give me a lot of ideas for my truck... Thanks
Awesome to hear! They are great trucks for sure.
Awesome video as usual. The wheels and tires look great. I think you should go with new parts.
Thanks! Good advice... we'll see what come next.
So 37s fit just fine on 3 inch lift, off-road bumpers and no inner wheel wells?
Should be good.
As always great video and love seeing the upgrades and performance of them.? By the way I did the same as you I got the Tom Woods driveshafts for my JKUR thanks for passing on the savings.
Thanks so much! I'm so glad you the discount worked out for you... I've been really happy with my driveshafts from them!
We must be about the same age, because I say rims all the time! 😁 keep up the great work, love the vids!
HA! glad to hear it!
I dont thibk its so much age as it is location. Most folks up in canada say RIM. Wheels means tires here.
Man that’s a nice truck!
I really like it too! Thanks for checking it out!
I think Kibbetech worked on a few 1500 Rams, king coilovers up front, bypasses in the rear I think, either way it was killer. Overkill for all the other components as well.
+j.mentzy 24 Thanks!
Do you think 35s would clear the splash guards and fender aprons?
Maybe... might need wheel spacers.
Thanks!
Would you use those tires on your jeep
Absolutely, I'm just very happy with my 38" tires for the time being.
Those are all AMAZING suggestions... Thank you so much!!!!
Exhaust sounds top notch
Thanks, I love it too!
I'm just wondering what sort of gas mileage you get with the truck given the new motor, exhaust and big tires? Love the truck and all the videos, look forwards to them.
Thanks! This truck has 5.13 gears in it and that is way too much gear.... it needs a 4.88 to be right. So around town it gets 12 and on the highway it gets 14... not great.
But it looks and sounds good doing it!
Show us a rebuild video for shocks.
Ram Runner Kit. 😊 with some foxes or kings. 🤘🤘🤘
I totally forgot about that kit! Great idea!
Yo Jason, great job! Come on over I’m gonna try your video on for size with my Ford Expedition. Stuff some 37s in there. So just remove all the wheel well weather crap and it just might work! 💪😃🤙
HA! I really love the looks of your rig on the 35's but would love to help make room for a bit bigger meats!
I love the truck .You should do Carli Suspension on it.
Thanks, I'll check them out!
Hey Jason, what tires do you like more? The falcon wild-peaks or the BFG km2? Actually debating between the two at the moment for my 2dr jk.
That's a tough question. Let me get a few more miles on the Falkens before I make a a clear "winner". The BFG's on the Jeep were all around amazing but I have to say for the brief amount of commuting and hot dogging with the Falkens... new champion so far.
My Falkens have balance issues.
I'd like to see a stock chevy on 37s lol
I know this video is old, but what’s the gear ratio in the axle of this truck?
4.56:1
Icon would be a great addition to that truck
Love it. Almost turning it into a ram runner. And as far as suspension ever heard of dirt king? Also the company prefix owns the rights to the old kore suspension. They do sell it seperatly for around 6k but the dirt king goes for 2k.
I'll check all of that stuff out, thanks for the tip!!!!
You should add an onboard compressor! That’ll be a good install video!
That is a great suggestion!
autoedit there’s not many good videos of how to install one and with your really good filming skills, it’ll be a good video!
Did you gear it down to deal it with the bigger tires
It has 4.56 gears that are a bit to steep.
@@AutoEdits do you think 4:11 would be alright with about 525 hp
@@borednarmed5612 That would be perfect in my opinion.
@@AutoEdits thank you sir
Hey what kind of bumper is that? I've been trying to find one like that and yours looks amazing
That bumper is made by Randy Ellis Designs
Personal opinion get the KING SHOCKS for your next upgrade. They are amazing!!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I love the King brand but ended up going with the Icon kit for this thing and am really happy!
If you do go with new suspenders, I would love to get an honest opinion from some one who has actually gone off road with "near" stock and then went custom!
Will do video for sure!
How does your rear gears handle those tires what’s the gear ratio
This truck has 4.56 gears and it's a bit much. 4.10 would be perfect.
I use the term “wheels“ to describe both the rim and the tire when combined.
I’d say rebuild and re-valve and set pressure accordingly. 1/20 the cost of new ones. Then remove the sway bar and see if you tire rub.
I like the suggestion... Thanks!!!
Thanks for this video! Very helpful. One question: did the 37" tires mess with your axle ratio? Did you need a tune to keep the trans out of limp mode?
new suspension... and make a video serious on how to rebuild the old stuff
Ok, noted!
4" lift with coilovers!
Always enjoy your videos jeep and dodge are bests
Thanks so much!!!
Whoooooo 2 videos in just a few days!!!!
I know, weird right?! There's a couple more on the way so be ready...LOL
You should have your own show on motor trend!!! But this is just perfect either way
