I thought our V11 was junk! This video showed me exactly what was going wrong and now I don’t feel like I wasted all that money any more! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this video, I used my very powerful Compu Cleaner Expert instead of a compressor our v11 now is as powerful as the day we bought it.
Thanks so much! What a design! After following all these steps, my place will be really dusty. I can then use my Dyson to clean my place up... and by then I will need to fix my Dyson again.... lol
In fairness, I think all vacuum cleaners are like this. I've only changed a vacuum as it has lost suction. If you don't hoover up glitter, powder etc then you will not have to do this often.
Thank you so much for this video! You have no idea how much frustration I had with the “airways blocked”. I’ve cleaned all that you explained, and it’s back to working perfectly! Thank you again!
Very good I found another step to further clean out the crap. You commented how much dust came out when you you pointed the compressed air up the 'vane' holes. I found it was worth cleaning these channels out with a long metal skewer - I cleaned out a good egg full of compacted crud that the compressor hadn't shifted.
I stumbled on some cans of compressed air at Home Depot (I use it for my musical gear) the other day and so I used that as you directed and voila!! back in business!! That is one fussy vacuum cleaner. Thanks a million for the help!!
Thanks mate, that worked wonders. Was just about to throw my V11 away and swear off Dyson. I might still do the later, but now this machine is working wonders again.
great video thank you, blocked pipe warning had been coming on with V10, also pulsing and cutting out, now all systems go again! thank you for taking the time to make this video
I've had my Dyson for about a year and a half and I use it ALOT. I try to keep it as clean as I can, but until I watched your video I never noticed the tab! Thank you so much! The last time I washed my filter, I let it dry over the weekend. Next time I used my Dyson I had the problem you described in the video where it kept stopping. It was puzzling since I keep it so clean. I cleaned it as well as I could AGAIN but the problem persisted. I decided to leave it for a while. Next time I wanted it use it, it worked perfectly. I suspect that perhaps even though I let the filter dry for so long, since it was cold weather, perhaps it didn't dry completely. Thanks again.

Thank you so much. My v10 cyclone animal was making a different loud noise and had lost its powerful suction. I changed the filter which didn't help then checked obvious parts for blockages and found nothing. This video showed another place to look, which was inside the dirt collection cylinder and voila, there was the blockage. After cleaning that out my dyson is now back to full working capacity. 👍
Brilliant! It was really annoying me and I was just about to throw it at a wall! It was the top part of the filter system that appeared to be blocked. I am now using it to hoover up the dust that came out. Cheers.
That is such a lovely thing to say . If you go systematically through the videos, you will get all the channels clear. You have made my day. Thank you!
I don’t have a compressor, but I just use a needle to pinch the tiny holes on the filter mesh. It helps to keep the brush roller run with less air chocking sound.
Omg you’re a lifesaver. It worked well. I was hesitant but it worked out well enough. Thank you! I just tapped on the ground and dust came out and I blew out the dust on the second fikter
OMG...thank you sooooo much for this video. I gave up on my 1 year old dyson. I did just as you said and cleaned the debris from the little whole in the catch tube and all is perfect again. Thanks again.
Thanks for the fantastic tip to use a compressor at a garage. My V11 is only 3 months old and used once a week as I also have an OUFY robot cleaner . The Airways on the Dyson were blocked due to Ash from my fire place and Shake & Vac. Spent 20 minutes blasting it with the tyre compressor at my petrol garage and did the removable filter too. Works a treat. Bit of a pain that a very expensive cleaner can’t cope with a bit of Ash & Shake & Vac so will avoid them from now on . Thanks so much

Thank you for making this video. Used a bicycle pump (as I don't have an air compressor) to blow out the dust from the internal filter which solved the problem! Thanks!
This helped a lot but I still can't use turbo mode without it going it saying the airflow is blocked. I cleaned the whole thing. I think it's just Dyson and my warranty ended this past November so they're not willing to send me any replacement parts. My next vacuum will not be a Dyson, I'll tell you that much. Still, great video!
Watch the video again Derek. You may have missed a group of channels. I missed some of them on my first try. If you've used water on your top filter, I would replace that too.

Is it safe to use canned compressed air on the filters of the Dyson? I'm concerned because with the can, it's not really possible to control how hard the air comes out.
Thank you Hendrik. I only started repairing things lately. Please subscribe to the channel. I'm just having fun on here. Your comments inspire me to so more of these visits.
I’ve done all that. Furthermore I’ve disassembled the whole thing cleaned everything with water except for the motor part of course so that it is completely spotless inside and out, dried it. Still pulsating.

If you see my other video on using the compressors to blow out the filter too. I hear so often that a wet filter can kill the Dyson. I’m glad you’re back up and running!
I thought I got mine fixed but now the clogged icon pops up again when I switch from wood floors to carpet. Then when I go back to the wood floors the icon goes away. Do you have any ideas? 😭
I think that this is going to block again after you’ve been through this maintenance.especially in my home with a lot of dust and a dog. It’s extremely impractical and has to many places to clean. After one use the thing is full of dust again.
@@Cuttothechase I not only empty it, I also clean it and make sure the filter is clean. I worked out what might need cleaning from the day I purchased it.I had one of the original Dyson’s and I had issues with that.but after doing all the cleaning it’s still showing air blockage without the wand or cleaning head attached. It’s too hard for my wife to go through that performance each time she does the vacuuming. Not what you might want to hear but it’s the truth.
You can buy cans of compressed air at your local stationary/computer shop too, anywhere that sells computers and components, canned compressed air is sold to clean out keyboards etc
The manual outlines what to do. The only maintenance necessary is to empty the bin (ideally after every use) and rinse the filters monthly. Always rinse the filter in water; never blow it for good reasons discussed here. ua-cam.com/video/QTSadOm6WsI/v-deo.html and here ua-cam.com/video/T3prXR-aeOg/v-deo.html It doesn't remove the dust deeper in the filter (by definition of how a filter works) and only removes a small portion of the dust from teh surface, meaning it will clog much faster next time. Compressed air also just sprays dust into the air, which is the last place you want it, and makes a mess. Never use compressed air. In the unlikely event that the metal shroud with the little holes gets clogged, just gently stab the bristles of the brush tool that comes with the maching into there (without flicking) to clear them. You should also *never* turn the machine on when the bin is open like you showed, because this bypasses the cyclones and sucks all the fine dust from the internal cyclone discharge chambers right onto the filters, clogging them right up.
I'm not a great fan of taking fitting surfaces apart. I believe that fitting surfaces just never fit the same again. The v11 power decreases even with washing the filter. It is the nature of a filter. A wet filter takes a while to dry. Also not a great fan of running any cloth over the mesh. The metal is super fine and even a gentle cloth will damage to those thin sharp edges. Good to have an alternative view though. The dust does go everywhere hence best to do it outside. My view us tge dyson needs to work for me and not the other way round.
@@Cuttothechase Yes, nothing should ever be taken apart. I don't believe washing the filter degrades its performance with time. Not only is that counter to what Dyson claim (it's a liftime filter), I've never experienced it myself, and there's no grounds in science for it either, based on how the filter works at a microscopic level. I would ask for strong objective evidence to support that claim, because I believe it to be false. Wet filters take 1 day to dry (according to the manual); this can be sped up using a cool fan to blow on it, which reduces to just a couple of hours. I agree that a cloth should not be run over the mesh; gently stab the bristles of the brush tool that comes with the maching into the (without flicking) to clear them in the very unlikely event it ever clogs (it won't for most people who only suck up natural household dust).
Lifetime means lifetime of the vacuum cleaner itself and not 50 years or so. Glitter stuffs up the vacuum and flour too. Otherwise yup you don't really need to clean it out too often as it ticks over just nicely. I tried a brush which incidentally, mine did not come with. It was, in my opinion a way to damage the fine metal mesh. I am sure that if more people had access to compressed air then yes it may be an option that could be discussed. The filters do block otherwise there would not be people talking about it on the forums.
And here's an update: Yesterday the error occured again. I disassembled the front part which is fixed by 4 (!!!) Torx screws and discovered the reason: The inner side of the metallic filter was covered with "backed" dust which blocked the very small holes of the filter. After cleaning first with a brush and after that again with compressed air the Dyson is now working like a charme. My advice: NEVER USE A WET TOWEL TO CLEAN THAT FILTER FROM THE OUTSIDE! Use dry towels only and from time to time compressed air.
I’m going to make another video on how to clean that filter without the compressor air too. Im sure that a lot of problems occur with moisture coming into contact with that fine mesh. Thanks for the update.
Indeed it does! If you watch the whole video really carefully, you will see all the channels. It restore the power of the dyson just like the first day you used it!
Hello I have a question, I’ve tried everything in this video on a v10 including trying another battery and another filter but the problem is that the vacuum is giving extremely low suction (you can barely feel any air flow which was definitely not how it was originally) on the low setting and is pulsing on medium and max setting, Is there anything else that can be done outside of complete disassembly to check for any clogs and or replacement of the motor?
@@Cuttothechase I have already tried dust removal ( following video instructions) and it was still the same. A Dyson is only any good if it working properly! The customer shouldn’t have to be a vacuum engineer!
@joycehedger5492 unfortunately all the modern vacuum cleaners have this problem with the possible exception of those made for industrial dirt. Did you use a compressor?
I like that you thought it was going to work and then it didn’t. You didn’t edit that out and the whole thing is more genuine.

Would a tyre inflated at a garage do it
Nope as I think they do not operate unless they are connected to some pressure.
Just share the video on your fb feed and someone will tell you they have a compressor. Ask them to do it lol.
@@Cuttothechase av got one it’s in hut though and I’d have to clear it out easier to by new dyson
Thank you so much!!! Problem solved
You're welcome!. I’m glad you found it useful.
Thanks a lot!!!! It really worked!
Indeed it does! If you watch the whole video really carefully, you will see all the channels. It restore the power of the dyson just like the first day you used it!
@@Cuttothechase Amazing, thanks again
Hello I have a question, I’ve tried everything in this video on a v10 including trying another battery and another filter but the problem is that the vacuum is giving extremely low suction (you can barely feel any air flow which was definitely not how it was originally) on the low setting and is pulsing on medium and max setting, Is there anything else that can be done outside of complete disassembly to check for any clogs and or replacement of the motor?
It’s in the video.
Change the air filter for a new one. This could be catastrophically blocked.
Wow. That worked. Thank you,
Thank you for letting others know. Please have a look at my other cut to the chase videos.
It worked thanks brother
Thank you so much for commenting.
Thanks very much! It sorted it for me.
Youre welcome. Add yourself on there is a new dyson improvement coming up shortly.
I have been trying to figure this out for 6 months!!!!!
Do share it around Kay.
But what if I do not have access to an air compressor?
Post in fb to your friends. They will have one
Also read the comments for C suggestions
Your vid helped thanks
Thank you for letting me know.
You can by compressed air in a can at auto and computer retailers
I’m not sure if that works but others have said it does.
Good video but I think I’ll go back to my Henry!!! Far too much maintenance with the Dyson .
Henry’s have a place but with the Dyson you don’t feel like you are working at all. It’s just there…like breathing.
