Oh! I could not help listening to the whole clip as it reminds me of one old lady in my committee. Although I was addressing meeting, she likes to interject portraying herself as a know all individual. The other day, she told a lie during the meeting claiming that I said something outrageous to a CEO of another organisation. All I could do was to remain calm for five seconds and then asked around if anyone had the contact details of the CEO. When I was about to phone there and then, she said there was no need to speak to that person and she changed the topic, the pitch of her voice changed whilst fidgeting. As other members started laughing at her, I did not take the matter further except to smile.
I like how you handled it . That’s how a true stoic handles issues. Well done 🔥❤️💪
Listening, is like a preniciple often recorsent. What an exeb_ or moreas a deed of a meeting makes them doubt. It is not the exact self grease, that you agree as it would only break an agreement. The use of a lay person does as reduce the burden to hepest as would a lay boatman. Some read other's realize late.why.

Why did you have to call her "old lady"?
@@CJandEllie I caught that too. 🤔
What?!?
Body language is the strongest universal language..no words needed.
Body language never lies
How people treat animals and children also often reveals their true character.
To treat another adult badly. One can only imagine how children feel when treated badly by adults.
@@reachlove6779 Also the authenticity in how they greet a child/animal is so revealing. Not necessarily treating badly, just the lack of a genuine hello there is such an underrated tool to measure true character. It's so revealing.
@@powrusr nowadays people treat children as pets. Giving them the sense of entitlement by giving them anything they want. This is not a preparation to life. In life one has to work to earn his daily bread, only pets are given food because they are kept captive.
Now the children are creating Artificial Intelligence and in time this Intelligence dictates that humans are not worthy anymore and will rise and destroy humanity.
If you want to see what I mean just watch the movie Terminator by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Don’t dismiss it as a movie. All the technology we have today was written in Star Tracker, from automatic doors microwaves and computers among other things.
So people if you love life raise your children with love and that is discipline and respect towards life itself.
Dip not count discipline as cruelty. Discipline is tough love which raises ladies and gentlemen instead of men and women.
Google the difference between , man and gentleman and woman and lady.
It is the way they behave themselves not by riches and wealth.
And women
@@reachlove6779But some people like animals more than people
Watch how they treat people in a lesser position" - such a profound observation! It reveals so much about a person's true character.
DemonRats treated the illegals like nothing. They treated their employees like garbage. DemonRats always said they cared about the poor.
True
I was abused/hunted daily by sad little man when I was four to seven years old, he abused animals and the week. He tried to beat the love out of a child. He failed. It is wonderful to make someone feel kindness/love/light. It's my super power.
This confirms my favorite (anonymous) quote, " Don't judge my story by the chapter you walked in on

my advice for people on first dates is simple:
go to a midscale restaurant, maybe even a dive, and observe how your dates treats the staff
in a few months, that is how they will treat you
@16:21 - 'People often lie not just to deceive others, but to deceive themselves' 👏🏿✍️🏿
I totally agree! How someone treats people in lower positions says a lot about their character

You are so kind, warm and a person full of love. Im 69 years old with 6 adults and loving children and 11 grand children.
How you love and nurture and care our children and how we treat good other people is really rewarding❤
This has really hit home. It has instantly made it clear to me and improved in helping my self awareness process. It has also helped to understand people around so much .🎉❤
Your story is one of incredible resilience and grace. It’s profoundly moving to hear how life, even with its challenges, has brought you to a place where learning and wisdom bring you such deep fulfillment. The image of you, at 82, still seeking knowledge and writing down what you’ve discovered is nothing short of inspiring. You are a living testament to the idea that it is never too late to grow, to learn, and to enrich your soul. Raising four children at such a young age must have required immense strength and sacrifice, but to see how sweetly you speak of them now, as they’ve grown into their 60s, reflects the love and dedication that shaped them.
Your words are not just a thank you-they are a gift to all of us who are fortunate enough to witness your journey. I can only imagine how much you’ve learned along the way, both from life and from the wisdom you now seek.
I’m curious, with all the wisdom you’ve gained through life’s trials and joys, what is the one lesson you would share with someone just beginning their journey of self-discovery?

*Mastering the art of reading others begins with mastering silence within yourself. When you observe without judgment, the truth in people reveals itself effortlessly*

As a DC, I learned to listen, which is a must when taking a health history. When you allow people to talk and encourage them, they reveal quickly if neurosis is present. You can't win an argument with a neurotic person. If you do, you enter that situation Mark Twain warned of, "Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
People that use their "past" as a reason for bad behaviour "now" is a huge red flag
It’s also their interpretation of the past events, which could be true, but it could be twisted for number of factors involved.
Tell me more
Excusers, abusers, & users too, the minds & matter of mankind, as above so below, actions, intonations, incantations, to state a few. Simply a matter of subjective review, for thou shall not judge, I am well, how do you do?
Being president of a union I was taught body languange . Voice infllection is a good point too.
Stoic is the best of all the best! ❤🙏🇨🇦
The way they treat their employees-fair salary, respect, and integrity-shows exactly who they are. You know what kind of organization you’re dealing with.
I don’t follow many but this channel grows you like a flower.
I absolutely love this video it helped me tremendously. I once was seeing this man and I would try to discuss the problems we were having or issues within the relationship he would always get defensive and sometimes just plain cruel with his words and have awful outbursts of anger. I soon realized he was very insecure possibly due to rejection in his past or trauma from his past. It is sad because I cared very much about him. I had to end the relationship because I had become a verbal punching bag for him so he could feel better about himself. He would rather pretend their wasn't a problem than face problems and solve them. I never want to be in a relationship like that again. His favorite thing to say was that's not my problem.
Had bullying, verbally abusive neighbors that targeted the kind and hard-working, peaceful small family. We avoided them like plague but they never tired of provoking, throwing trash in the yard etc.and causing sleep deprivation with loud constant shouting, banging of doors & kitchen utensils etc. They enjoyed being miserable, and causing misery.
The Lord Jesus watches, and they will have to give an account to Him one day.
Cherissa stone me too same thing 😔 I'm 60 and have no one and not enough money to have a studio room now, but I couldn't take the hurt and disrespect any longer.I can't even trust my grown 2 children . Life has always been this way for me. I never could trust my family growing up. I'm trapped apparently.
@@TRS-q9jGod will help u. He makes a way. I will be praying for u.
@@TRS-q9j I have a friend who was always negative, felt trapped in her life, unable to lift herself up, lost in darkness, feeling betrayed. I askd her questions about herself, and then asked what was the last positive experience she had, a moment of joy, even the smallest . At first she said there was none. I insisted: go back in time, find a moment your face was smiling. She answered she had been walking in the forest lately and heard birds and feeled connected with nature. Recalling that moment of joy, her face changed in a beautiful smile. Later on, each time we had a conversation, i started with the same question: tell me about your last moment of joy. She knew I was going to ask that question, and even before i asked she started about the positive things that happened to her. And her perception of herself and her environment changed, she started seeying more positive things around her, she found a job, inspired more confidence around her, felt more secure herself, people enjoyed her presence, because she too started asking "what was your last moment of joy ?".
You can heal yourself: every day, before going to bed ask yourself "what was my last moment of joy", search for one, even the slightest - a smile from a neighbour, a bird chanting in the trees" and write that moment down in your agenda. Make it a daily routine. When you wake up, read the agenda, and remember all those moments that are written, day after day. During the day you will pay attention to those small joyful moments, because you will want to write down your last moment of joy in your agenda.
You will change your life, no one can do that for you, you have the keys of your beautiful and bright future ahead, take the first step!
This is all good stuff. Basics I learned as a student Psychiatric Nurse. Nature and nurture. Make personality development. We learned not to judge others but to understand what makes them speak and behave the way they do. Goes back to inherited traits and experiences in developmental training. Finding out about the history of family history and experience of childhood yrs 1-10 tells you a lot about people and why they do what they do. My learning as a nurse of three disciplines has given me great insight over my 72 years. Now I just observe and laugh inside. Love it!!!
How people treat animals tells me everything I need to know about them….
1. Tell me more,
2. How they treat people lower than them,
3. The past will tell the future
One time I went to an event. One elderly guy said, "have a seat and tell me about yourself". I said "who the hell are you,why the f.. I should tell you about me". End of the story with that man.
I think I would ask him “how about you tell me first about yourself!” It could turn into charming encounter, possibly friendship. I believe in spontaneity. My in law wants everything according to plan and accepted norms; her life is very boring and she does not enjoy it much, but for to me unknown reason, she just can’t engage with life in a spontaneous way.

i had a brief introduction to "Quality Improvment tools" Fishbone diagrams, continuous re-evaluation, but one stood out was "5 Why's". Similar to 'tell me more" but (asked 5 times "Why"? Great lesson, I hate folks that lie & are phony using people whenever they can.
Kamala Harris, prime example, and almost every celebrity.

@petespurgeon it bugs me to no end, but I know why the lying does (NPD parent & pathological liar for an ex). I have come to realize that many people lie to themselves if not all of us some time or another.. It may have to with lack of self-awareness. I have realized I, too, have lied to myself while with the ex. Lying to others, not a whole lot... parents as a teenager yes, & some white lies to not harm though those were still lies. Nowadays, I say to myself, I'm 54 yrs old, pay my own bills, try to be of service to others & am honest with integrity. Why would I want to lie for one... about anything? I just don't see any reason to. I've pretty always been this way through adulthood just much more refined now.Much more self-aware.

Thanks for this video! Now I have new tricks to understand people more naturally.
oh? please continue...
this video should be watched by billions NOW!
1) Tell me more (silence & genuine care)
2) How they treat others beneath them (people they're not here it impress and have nothing to lose)
3) Past experience (find cues even they might not even know they're acting on) Observe objectively
4) Change of Voice (tone - pause etc...)
5) How they act when they believe NO ONE'S is watching (See #2)
6) Emotional reactions reveals priorities (extension of #4)
Just look at how their employees are treated. The salary, the respect and integrity they give to their employees. You know who you are dealing with.
Don’t listen or look at their motto as respect and integrity, you see that from how they treat their employees.
The lesson about people’s true selves showing when they think no one’s watching is so real. The video captures the essence of stoic observation-looking beyond performance to understand real character. Loved every minute and learned a lot!
No one is lesser or higher than another
I've often thought if we could listen more and speak less God will reveal all. This has been my experience. If I'm around someone who speaks a lot, I rarely speak at all. Lol Oh how I used to long to be heard and understood by others. Now I've mastered shifting conversations that allow others to be heard.
This video is amazing! The skill of reading people without them knowing is so useful-it's like a hidden superpower
Hate and anger are defensive emotions. Feels more powerful than fear.😢 but is so short sighted.
If someone wants you to leave the room. They stand up first. Because you want to be polite you stand up and let yourself be shepherded from the room. People like specialists or Doctors. When they feel they’ve spent enough with you, even if you haven’t had time to ask all your questions they quieten the conversation by politely getting rid of you. If you have more questions to ask. Don’t stand up, sit there and say I need more of your time and this is important… then ask your question. They take charge if the can.
I love listening and learning from you 💯 facts
To deal with this situations with people every day, you really have to be in control of your inner self to deal with toxic minds ❤
Thank you, I have learned so much about my siblings behaviors and actions I experienced with a health issue over the past 12 years. What an eye opene Wow!
Please talk l more about sibling behaviors between family members. I think its really important and teaching so many people about the truth of family behaviors people use towards others.
Please, please tell me more. Many really need to hear this for their protection. Thanks again for your wonderful insight. ❤
I have been adapting these habits not quite all of them -- yes it has changed my life
I flare to use your words, when people disrespect me. I'm at an age where my ego has been worn away but disrespect, I will push back every time. And I push back with logic.and reason. Seneca's writings with God's word is the path.
Peace
*I absolutely love this video it has helped me so much. I was once in a relationship with a man, and whenever I tried to talk about the issues we were facing, he would become defensive, sometimes even cruel with his words, and have intense outbursts of anger. Over time, I realized that his behavior likely stemmed from deep insecurities, possibly due to past rejection or trauma. It was heartbreaking because I genuinely cared for him. However, I had to end the relationship when I realized I had become a verbal punching bag, used to make him feel better about himself. He preferred to ignore the problems rather than face and fix them. I never want to be in a relationship like that again. His favorite response was always, "That's not my problem*
In all seriousness, what a gift to better understand the people around us. It’s not about reading minds; it’s about opening our hearts a little wider, sharpening our senses, and connecting with others on a deeper level. Who knew the Stoics had the ultimate life hack up their sleeves? Can’t wait to observe, reflect, and maybe even make the world a little more compassionate one raised eyebrow at a time!" 👀❤
A well-presented set of ideas to deal with challenging personalities. Thank you, and keep sharing insights with others and yourself.
Sometimes the public persona is not bad. If you’re upset and need to work pretending to be happy is not bad.
I love how you highlighted the importance of observing how someone treats people in lesser positions. Have you ever had a surprising experience where this revealed someone's true character?
I think that 1st comment demonstrates it where someone thinks they are better than someone else. They also got gratification from others laughing at the old lady. I think that can say a lot about a person.
Yes
More than once
I was going to say unfortunately it may have been myself. It's not unfortunatel, because I've seen it and I'm correcting it.... There is not one person who is beneath another so I'm sure it was my own sense of inadequacy....... Have a great desire, to bring all of our brothers and sisters together. When we all come to the great realisation that there is no separation, we become the proton over our neutron Earth we will literally move the planet through space and time in any direction we see fit with massive amounts of love
So very true 👍
You have touches on aa priceless topic. Thank you so much. It gave me time to revisit my true self and become more aware of behavioural patterns of people around me. God bless❤
I just wish i was more self aware. I read other people more than I read myself. Working on it
I really enjoy your videos,it's always good to be your true self. Thank you
I've learned over the years to quietly observe people, and it's quite interesting what insights one can obtain! Though at one time, I showed my hidden thoughts to a friend who did observe my issues and was flat out honest with me. I held a resentment for a time until I totally understood he was right. Since then, I have dealt with the issue, and it has freed me. So don't judge, just live and learn. Have a beautiful day! ❤❤
This video offers such a refreshing perspective on human behavior-it's like unlocking hidden truths in everyday interactions! The insights about reading between the lines, from tone shifts to emotional reactions, really hit home. It's not just about understanding others, but also about gaining deeper self-awareness. Truly eye-opening and thought-provoking!
I have used that tactic in negotiations of insurance claims, and I had a LOT of success, in getting to a fair settlement!!!
This is such a sophisticated lesson for one to learn and observe a true human behavior. Thank you!
This is a real good topic to listen too. It says all about most people I know. Thanks for this
Thank you very much
1. Tell me more, or take an interest in what they like, sometimes a simple wait will do it.
Be mindful when someone is interested in you. They may dig for information.
2. How people treat those of lesser status. This includes how someone looks, the job they are in and percived social standing. ( so if someone of other color, dress or job is different treat them as your good friend always. Let them be rude and keep going. Others will always notice how you behave. Sometimes that homeless guy is a millionaire in disguise.
3. The past always repeats in some way.
So watch carefully, speak with calm purpose. Be quiet so you can hear the world around you. If you know your history you will see the patterns. From how people behave to how they would likely react. Bonus when you see the patterns you remain calm and less stressed. More free

This truly works and people like to talk about themselves. I learned this idea in property management to screen the people I'd consider renting too. They end up telling on themselves if they're not being honest with the application.
We have to be mindful of ourselves, too.
y focusing on body language, tone, and behavior rather than words, we can understand their true intentions while maintaining emotional distance.
Yes!..happens to me all the time!..most people love to talk, specially women. I am
a listener..people talk to me for hours!
Maybe you're an empath!
I enjoy telling stories about my many interests in reading, gardening, hobbies and expiriances having lived in different countries and leasure travel. I especially love to have a conversation with other people who have interesting things to--tell me. I detest being with a person who has nothing to contribute because it forces me to be polite and fill in the space, but, I understand this person may be shy, have lived a sheltered or simply doesn't give a hoot about the person sitting with them. There are two kinds of listeners, the ones who are passive and not really interested and the ones who are genuinely interested and engaged--I can absolutely tell which group people fall into by how I feel when those who trully listen display in their body language that they like being spoken to; as a result of sharing with them I feel happy. The other kind I just want to ignore and avoid because who wants to speak to an empty vessel? or so it feels when people just passively "listen". They let you talk all the while looking down on you for talking --in their oppinion--too much. It makes them feel superior LOL.
Nice reminder like reading an old book over but with cliff notes
Every time I watch your videos, I find new wisdom. I can’t wait to share these quotes with my friends!
Thank you for this amazing insightful presentation with a wonderful calming voice 🕊️
Yes, if you treat people kind and show them that you want to hear their point of view, they will respond because they will trust you !
Just wanted to added a true fact.... Sometimes it's a over abundance of STRESS that causes a stutter or hesitation NOT a lie. They may well be telling the truth. Stress does all kinds of things to you. I know all to well. So be careful with number 4. Yes he is correct alot of the time but that's not always the case. Know the surrounding circumstances and more about the person in question. Remember what he said about a person 's past, it plays a role here also. Just don't jump to a quick assumption. That's my point.
Stress, especially, can cloud our actions, making hesitation or even a stutter appear misleading when it’s merely a reflection of internal struggles. Your emphasis on empathy-understanding the broader circumstances and a person’s past-speaks to the Stoic principle of seeking deeper truth before making assumptions. Your perspective encourages us to approach others with compassion and patience, and it enriches this dialogue beautifully.
Have you ever encountered a situation where stress led you or someone else to be misunderstood in a similar way? Would love to hear more of your thoughts!
@@stoickingdomoffical Yes, I personally have. I started writing you more of a response, but decided to delete it. I'm not sure I want to share that much of my experience in this way. I'm pretty private, don't like my business spread everywhere. I felt my comment was needed here. But at the same time I don't want to get into specifics online either. Hope you can understand and respect that. Let me just leave you with this statement: A person can only take so much, before it becomes too much. When that happens, the effects of it goes far deeper than surface. It effects the body, health, mind and soul. We live in a lying deceitful world, where Honesty is the thing that now has to be proven over and over again. It should be the liar questioned to no end. But not now, it's the person that's trying so hard to do the right thing. God says to despise lies. But this world can't seem to do anything but uphold the lies and hurt the honest. Honesty is rare these days. It makes life harder to live . But I know God will bring me through it somehow and hopefully make me stronger in the end.
@@carolynrasberry2388 It's a rare and powerful thing to express so much truth without delving into specifics, and that, in itself, speaks volumes. Your reflection on the toll that deceit takes on the body, mind, and soul is a poignant reminder of the quiet battles many fight in a world that often values the wrong things. The strength in your statement-about how honesty should be the foundation yet is constantly tested-echoes a struggle that so many can relate to. You’ve beautifully captured the internal conflict of trying to do right in a world that sometimes feels turned upside down, but your faith in something greater and your hope for resilience shine through like a beacon.

I learned to ask questions and when the person finnishes his answer, I would wait silently, paying attention and wait for more. At all times I got the real deep answer revealed by my active silence. It works every time: your boss, your collegue, your friends, your customer, your children. The first part of the answer to the question will be what they want to tell you, the second part what they want to hide from you ! The moment of active silence is similar to the "tell me more", but much stronger.
If, at the end of the answer, you say "tell me more", most of the time they will answer: i have answered your question, what do you need to know, what didn't you understand ?
Instead, wait count slowly one to 10 in your head while looking at them gently, see what happens ! I never had to count furter than 5. It's magic
