This has happened to me recently. I have known this person for 40 years. She has immigrated to another country and we have been keeping in touched with each other over all this years. In the month of May 2024, she called me and told me that she's coming back to my country in early June 2024, to visit her relatives and she told me that she will definitely want to meet up with me. I was really excited to hear that she's coming back. So, for that whole week before she took the flight to my country, she kept texting me everyday, keeping in touch with me and of course I responded to her text. She is supposed to arrive on Friday. So on Saturday morning at 8am I sent a text to her asking if she has arrived and if we could meet for lunch? I saw that my message was delivered and waited for her reply. I kept checking my phone and I wondered why she didn't read my message at all. She ignored my message totally for the whole day. She didn't even bothered to open my message to read. I know Whatsapp will show when the message is delivered. Come on, there's no excuse that she didn't see my message. Now, wouldn't a normal person check her phone for messages when she turns on her phone or wouldn't she be excited to text me when she has arrived? She sounded so excited when she told me she was coming and that she must meet me when she's here and furthermore, she was texting me everyday before she took her flight here to my country. On Saturday, knowing that she has arrived,I texted her at 8 am in the morning , my message was delivered instantly but she didn't open my message to read. She only replied at 9.40pm at night when I was already in bed by then. Her reply really pissed me off. She said " Oops sorry (my name)" and started telling me what she did the whole day. Apparently she went window shopping for the whole day. Don't tell me that she didn't check her phone at all? All I want was a confirmation from her if we are meeting for lunch so that I can move on with my day if she can't make it . I have also arranged with my son to make time to take me to meet her wherever she can meet us. We just waited to hear from her, there was complete silence on her part. I really felt so stupid. I replied her message asking her if she'll be available to meet on a weekend on the following week because I can't make it during the weekdays. She didn't read my message again until 2 days later with just a reply saying "OK". Ok what ?.... Her "OK" can mean, it's ok if I can't meet her during the weekdays OR OK ,she will be available during the week end? At least give me a straight answer . To be honest, I have totally lost my mood to meet her by then. I have decided to cut her off totally and went silence till today. My question is, by her actions is this being disrespectful? Or was I being over sensitive?

This is all good stuff. Basics I learned as a student Psychiatric Nurse. Nature and nurture. Make personality development. We learned not to judge others but to understand what makes them speak and behave the way they do. Goes back to inherited traits and experiences in developmental training. Finding out about the history of family history and experience of childhood yrs 1-10 tells you a lot about people and why they do what they do. My learning as a nurse of three disciplines has given me great insight over my 72 years. Now I just observe and laugh inside. Love it!!!

I hate when people mistreat other people. God tells us even to love our enemies--to do them no harm. I have a relative who arranged a family wedding without my knowledge and nobody else in her family let me know about it either-- She was always so self-centered and controlling. She broke my heart!

The part about forgiveness being a gift you give yourself, not the person who hurt you, really hit home for me. Letting go of resentment isn’t about letting them off the hook-it’s about freeing yourself to move forward. The analogy of a scar as a lesson rather than a burden is so powerful. Thank you for this empowering reminder!

I am 5 months old in my new workplace. And this midget a short person..i mean very short, greeted me one evening and scratched the centre of my palm with his finger.I felt so uncomfortable immediately and realy disrespected because its an old school Interpretation that he wants to fuck me. I was so shocked and out of words at that moment that i did not know what to do.This midget is from Albania! I maintained my cool even though i was boiling inside like how could he? Who does she think i am? So i maintained my cool at that moment.Days after, i totally distanced myself from him.Stop greeting him by hand, and never engaged him in any way.He felt uncomfortable abd would try to be friendly to me but i did not and i am not giving him a chance to be close or friendly to me.Thats a message enough that, i am not playing that game with him.Like dude youre a midget...respect yourself!!!

Forgiveness liberates you from resentment but doesn’t mean excusing behavior or allowing further harm. Instead, it’s about learning from past betrayals and protecting your peace while not forgetting the lessons that keep you safe.
