This was pure gold my fellow stoic, Thank you so much for this, Pain is inevitable, Suffering is optional, Emotional detachment, Calm inner Peace is bliss, Peace, love and respect to you and everyone, Thank you universe, All glory power praise and smile's to the most high :-) :-) :-)
I used to be bullied a great deal when I was young. The best words my grandfather gave me before he passed was, if you spend all your time worrying about what others think and do you'll never enjoy anything. I try to view my day to day situations on that fact.
Five Rules to Detach Yourself from Someone: 1- All Relationships are Transient, the more you try to keep them the faster they will leave. 2- Master your Emotions, You have power of your mind. The soul becomes dyed by the color of its thoughts. 3- Preparing Your Mind how to stay Calm if something goes wrong, Loss is a Natural way of Life. 4- Focus on what you can Control, you can’t control other people’s Emotions about you, therefore Detach yourself. Stop wasting your Energy. 5- Think of a Bigger Picture. Will this pain matter in five years from now? Life moves on so do You. Everything in Life is Transient. Life is much larger than any single person.
I love how this video blends practical advice with ancient wisdom. The Stoic rules to emotionally detach are not only effective for navigating difficult relationships but also for building long-term emotional strength. This is definitely something I’ll be implementing in my life moving forward!
Informative video. My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.
its difficult to let go of someone you love, i was in a similar situation, my relationship of 12 years ended, but i couldnt just let him go i did all i could to get him back, i had to seek the help of a spiritual counselor who helped me bring him back
Things only end if you let it end. Things only change if you let it change. You are in control. Things don’t just happen to you. I mean there are things out of your control, yes. But If you want a relationship or a friendship to last you make it last. You do your part, effort….. and water it like a plant. And it will keep going.
Yet, sometimes it is our own actions or choices that end up hurting others to the point that they detach and leave. What would be the stoic way of confronting losses caused by our behavior towards others? And how do we recognize and accept the need to detach from a relationship, of any nature, because the actions of the other person were consciously harmful? Do we forgive and forget? Talk? Accept defeat and keep going on their terms? Prevent further damage? How? People that caused conscious damage are bound to protect their reputation by telling others their own version of the story, where they didn't cause any damage. What is the stoic way of dealing with that? I'm rather interested to know. Thanks!
I needed to hear this. I've been trying to break ties with a friend for 4 years because of their constant negativity. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Still watching/listening to the video, but I resonate so much with. The victim mentality and to take control of what I can control. This is really good. I will comment more as I listen more. Blessings to all tuning in.
I loved how this video presented Marcus Aurelius’ stoic philosophy not just as theory, but as practical advice that can be immediately applied to our relationships. The point about understanding the impermanence of life hit home for me-once we accept that people, situations, and feelings change, we can release the unnecessary emotional weight. This mindset shift is so powerful and really helps us live in the present moment without clinging too tightly to attachments that no longer serve us.
I agree with the perspective that emotional detachment, as Marcus Aurelius teaches, is not about shutting down emotions but about cultivating clarity and inner peace. The reminder to focus on what we can control and embrace impermanence resonates deeply. Learning to let go of outcomes we can't dictate frees us from unnecessary suffering and empowers us to build stronger emotional resilience. Thank you for sharing these timeless Stoic rules-they offer valuable insights for navigating relationships and life's challenges.
The concept of negative visualization was eye-opening. By preparing ourselves for inevitable losses, we gain emotional strength. Such a practical, yet often overlooked, tool.
I want you to know this was right on time for me . I’ve been in this emotional cycle since I was a little girl . This has changed my perspective of things I can’t control nor the outcome of a situation.
✨This video immerses us in the world of Stoic philosophy, helping us understand how resilience, rational thinking, and acceptance of inevitable circumstances can improve our lives.❤️❤️🫂
Am practicing negative visualization. It exactly what I needed right now.its sure to strengthen my inner resilience. No matter what happens I will be okay.
I don't agree with the practice of negativity visualization. I believe we should practice detachment by knowing everything is impermanent. That's all. We are all energy and we don't want to draw negative energy towards us. Another important truth is knowing karma is real. Do good things only even a smallest good deeds.
Stoicism helps us stay calm and strong, even when we feel sad or hurt. It teaches us how to handle our feelings and keep control. If someone is unkind or if something makes us feel bad, these lessons show us how to stay peaceful inside. We can use Stoicism to feel clear and steady, even when things are hard.
Being stoic is definitely useful when things aren't going the right way but cause a disconnect with yourself when they do. There is no formula to being always in control, it's an illusion. Sometimes giving in brings the needed results.
Wonderful imagery to use while expanding the stoic concepts for others to use. Using overly muscular imagery in stoicism videos can give the wrong idea about what stoicism is truly about. Stoicism focuses on values like wisdom, emotional resilience, and rational thinking-not physical strength or perfection. When content creators rely on hyper-masculine images, it risks misrepresenting stoicism by associating it with toxic masculinity and misleading viewers. This not only distorts the philosophy’s true focus but can also alienate those who might benefit from its teachings. For content creators, it’s crucial to understand that teaching a philosophy inaccurately or through misleading representations is dangerous and goes against stoic principles of truth, integrity, and self-awareness. Misrepresentation diminishes the accessibility of stoicism and undermines its inclusive, universal values. Stoicism teaches intellectual and moral growth, not shallow ideals of physical dominance. Creators should reflect this by choosing imagery that aligns with stoicism’s real teachings-helping viewers learn the philosophy as it was intended: a guide to inner strength and virtuous living.
Because achieving a connection that can withstand life's inevitable changes(i.e., one with a quality of permanence), would necessarily have involved manifesting positive behaviour towards the loved person, and this behaving in a positive way then transforms that person into someone that behaves that way toward everyone-which of course, ultimately benefits humanity as a whole.
As the old saying goes tell the truth and shame the devil. For 6 years I have been emotionally attached an intimately involved what's a person who shortly after the relationship start it, he constantly disrespected me, and didn't value me, and worse he put me to shame by burning me five times with his lifestyle of patronizing prostitutes after the second time I should have stopped being intimate with him! There is a such a thing as loving someone unconditionally but I went beyond that when I continue to have sex with this person.
RUN to a therapist, ASAP! YOU continue to have sex with a man who burned you???? YOU gave him permission to care absolutely nothing about you. A therapist can help you. Please go. 🙏🏽 I wish you the best.
Loss is inevitable. Prepare for the worse case scenario to train the mind to be able to respond rationally and appropriately Meet each challenge with calmness or self control
Everything everyone changes forthe worse or for the better, the constant thing in this Universe is Change. According to Einstein. Nothing is permanent. Energy can neither created nor destroyed it just takes another form. K
I had a terrible realization. That if my natural mother passed id actually be more emotionally stable and feel safer.i dont want that to happen but I know she is so far gone that my hope of her being whole again is nothing more than my foolish desire.Life is unpredictable and this poor woman bright and beautiful as she once was has been tossed about and mistreated until she is just a shadow of herself. She was light and the dark just swallowed her one piece at a time.
I am classically neurotic. I interpret everything negatively and anxiously until proven other wise. I am afraid all the time. "Do Not Worry." Says Yeshua. I find this the most difficult command.
I think I know earlier I have no emotions.I Am not MARCUS AURELIUS.I CAN SEE Through. I don't allow anyone in illness or I can make the whole team on our toes.
When I see him on the phone thru messenger I start to think he is talking to someone else and then I stop my thoughts and begin to think someone just tried to call he maybe on Facebook and listening to tictok video and also his life is not mine to judge or control and everything changes
Bad advice from an Ancient Greek War General… completely different perspective on life. Esp. the Negative visualization. THAT definitely doesn’t work in your favor by “ prepping yourself for loss”; it makes you regret later you didn’t give hope your all, despite the outcome. I know this having done it when my husband hung between life and death: the Bible says, “ choose life that you and your seed may live.”.
If you believe in God and the Bible you have no reason to be here. Your problems are solved by prayer and leaving everything with God and knowing he will heal your heart and fix all your problems. With a Christian belief system you have no need for stoicism.
You have to realize that women are always searching for a better deal like buying a car, they always think it's something better. 3 billion women on this planet and you pour your heart out to one. Are you really that thirsty, she's not yours it's just your turn

This came to me in the time it was needed thank you
Why chase permanence in relationships when Stoicism reaches us that life is constantly shifting?
The only constant in life is change 🥸
Because achieving a connection that can withstand life's inevitable changes(i.e., one with a quality of permanence), would necessarily have involved manifesting positive behaviour towards the loved person, and this behaving in a positive way then transforms that person into someone that behaves that way toward everyone-which of course, ultimately benefits humanity as a whole.
Very true. Impermanence is not a poor excuse for seeking only superficial, labile connections
Because within permanence we still change, but bend and flow with each other.
People come and go forever.
Exactly TY
Detachment from the world, how can it be done?

What about marriage vows: till death do us part??? Does the same hold true or is this the exception to the rule?
All that is B's
My question is what does that really mean is it physical death or death from love no longer want to exist together. I’m just asking 👁️🙏🏼👁️
Not when your emotional health is in jeopardy. Been there. Had to leave for my peace of mind. It wasn't pretty, yet I didn't look back.
