      There are many effects one must be aware of to be effective with kick and bank shot aiming systems:

    The table industry needs to collaborate and create standards. The cushions should be the exact same cut and other characteristics which measure how balls bounce off of them. Need physicists and scientists like you to guide how they measure.

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  8 місяців тому +1

      It would be nice if pool table cloth, rails, cushion, and pockets were identical among all table manufacturers, but this really isn't practical given the history and current state of the industry. And maybe it is a good thing to be challenged by different table characteristics. Also, the pockets on home tables and in bars should probably not be as difficult as those on pro tournament tables. Also, we always need to be able to adjust to different playing conditions, because kick and bank angles changes with cloth condition (new and slick vs. old and dirty) and environmental conditions (heat and humidity).

  • @BigAlsBilliards

    I always jus parallel shift halfway to #cueball, keep my tip at that spot, then shift butt over Cue Ball. This gives the exact shooting track line.
    Same thing as you are saying, I just find it easier than doing the 2-1 shift. Same result though.

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  9 місяців тому +1

      That works perfectly only if the CB is in the middle of the table (the same distance from both rails), but it is certainly much better than a pure parallel shift.

  • @KarlsCracklingCottonMouth
    @KarlsCracklingCottonMouth 9 місяців тому +1

    2 questions:
    1) do you ain the center of the cue ball (not the leading edge) through the rail into the diamond?
    2) you said hit on the vertical center but low misses short and high on the cue ball misses long. However in the picture you marked high-center as the hitting spot 🤷

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  9 місяців тому +1

      1) Yes. You aim the center of the CB directly at the diamond.
      2) The 2-to-1 system requires a rolling CB, hence the above-center hit (on the vertical centerline, with no sidespin).

  • @matthewwheaton5835
    @matthewwheaton5835 9 місяців тому +1

    All good. To note, when you go for the EXACT hit, this will often result in a scratch. Even when you didn't scratch, the resulting leave is very poor being inside the pocket. The "near miss" is the better shot, wouldn't you say?

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  9 місяців тому +2

      Agreed. I showed targeting the center of the ball in the video to demonstrate the accuracy of the system. In game situations, it is better to target off-center a little. For examples, see the previous video:
      ua-cam.com/video/rcWccgPnoso/v-deo.html

    • @OfficialTrailer-cc2gr
      @OfficialTrailer-cc2gr 9 місяців тому +1

      Exactly that's my point. This system isn't accurate at least you know which line is the cue ball in, for instance in the minute 4:47 . you know the exact kick rail cus you are expert player. For my as a intermediate player in the minute 4:47 . The cue ball could be on the line 5.5 to 3.5 . I hope you understand my concern.

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  9 місяців тому +2

      @@OfficialTrailer-cc2gr It is easy to find line closest to the CB. Just put your cue along each of the lines that are near the CB and pick the one that is closest. With the CB in this position, if you put your cue over the 5-to-2.5 line, the 6-to-3 line, and the 7-to-3.5 lines, it will be obvious that the CB is closest to the 6-to-3 line. Again, check out the videos and other stuff here if you want more info or if you want to see more examples:

      @@DrDaveBilliards Can you make a video about adjusting to tight pockets? Also dig into the question: Is it beneficial to practice on tables with tighter pockets than you compete on? Perhaps with references to other sports (like weight wests for sprinting etc.)

    • @DrDaveBilliards
      @DrDaveBilliards  9 місяців тому +1

      @@PoolProblems Good idea; although, the message is pretty clear:
      - focus more and be more accurate.
      - use sidespin less and keep things simple.
      - make sure you don’t hit the near point of the pocket and instead target the far facing.
      Practicing on tight pockets is good for working on your focus and shotmaking. But, IMO, I think it is best to practice on the equipment that you play on most often in competition, so you can focus on your whole game, and not just shotmaking. Just count aloud after hitting the rail. I’m not disagreeing that the parallel shift doesn’t work, but I don’t believe that’s enough evidence to prove that and validate your other method.

    • @bntheyoutube
      @bntheyoutube 6 місяців тому +1

      Because I believe at the same speed as the other shot, you would’ve opened up the angle plenty enough to make the ball.

      @@bntheyoutube I agree that my speeds were not consistent, but small changes in speed in the slow-speed range don’t make much difference. Regardless, the diagram illustrations clearly show why parallel shifting is inaccurate. It does not maintain the required 2-to-1 relationship.
