Sweet brother. My pops served 2 tours in VIETNAM! IF YOU VOLUNTERD OR DRAFTED I LOVE ALL OF YOU! HE KEPT THE HORROR OF WAR AWAY FROM ME THE BEST HE COULD. ALMOST DIED FROM AGGRESSIVE CANCER JUST BEFORE COVID! I WANTED TO LOOK HIM IN THE EYE (HES NOT MY PATERNAL HES THE REAL MAN THAT SAVED ME! AND RAISED ME! I AM A SENIOR NOW... HE STILL CHECKS ON ME EVERY DAY!

      Respect, Teresa.
My maternal grandpa was a helicopter pilot in Korea and reenlisted during Nam. Obviously as a helicopter pilot he was in the thick (literally) of the action as well as the Agent orange runoff. I was never able to meet him (he died when my mom was 17, the week before she left for college) but everything I heard from after he came home sounds like a checklist for a "do I have PTSD" test.
He was super quiet, barely talked, very edgy and easily frustrated, night terrors, some forms of psychosis which were likely flashbacks, etc. Being a rescue pilot, he had to drag limbless, headless, non-intact brothers back to base while being shot at himself. And personally, the question I ask such instances isn't 'Does he suffer from PTSD?', rather 'How could a human possibly endure all that without suffering SEVERE mental trauma for their entire life'?
My grandpa was a champion boxer in the Navy, a professional golfer and club pro near Savannah after he was stationed at Fort Stewart in between stints Whidbey Island N Base in beautiful Oak Harbor, WA near Deception Pass and not far from the San Juan Islands where I've swam with orcas (part of Free Willy 2 was filmed there, and Free Willy 1 was filmed in Astoria OR across the bridge from Long Beach WA) and sat on a rock Island surrounded by 50-60 seals.
My friend had a cabin up in Roche/Friday Harbor which was just a 30min ferry from Anacortes (but poor high school kids found it more economical to just follow the ferry into town). The islands are insanely gorgeous and are virtually international water as they sit between Washington's Olympic peninsula and Vancouver. After the Rev War, the monarchy and the Republic both claimed the islands as their own until Kaiser Wilhelm granted them to the country that wasn't an autocratic monarchy 95 years after the Rev War. Teddy Roosevelt was a well known guest. And in all actuality was a GIGANTIC source of pot on the West Coast growing up in the 90s bc it was so damn easy to boat from BC to the San Juans where your 'package' is now in America. And BC bud was always known as far superior to the bammer Mexican stuff of that time before they consolidated control.
Anyway, my grandpa Jay didn't even make it 4 years back home before the FDA-approved Monsanto "safe and effective" agent orange proved to be anything but, ravaging his entire body with aggressive stage 4 cancer.
And my mom coped in her own way. Which I now understand but as a kid, especially as a teen, when I learned more about the war and agent orange, absolutely infuriated me and I could not understand why it pissed me off so much but my mom seemed to not care. Which I later realized was her way of coping by internalization and holding onto the belief that her dad didn't die in vain.
I've eventually been able to diagnose her and have her confirm my theories by slowly melting the icebox over her heart and convincing her that her dad died because of greed and corporate government corruption. Which I admit is an undeniably shitty and unfair reality for a girl whose "memories" of her father consist of an indestructible badass who died a hero. Which he absolutely did.
I still have a purple heart in storage and a framed photo of his pet monkey sitting on his shoulder from the jungles of Nam that lived with him in his base the entire tour.
God bless all the vets who at the end of the day, are by and large the idealistic and sacrificial arm of a body infected with a toxic inhumane sickness.
I showed my mom the clip of Tom crying talking to Blair White about giving the 75k to the veteran charity after I bought that shirt just to show her the guy truly gives a f***

Every single person is different. I know people that lean left, I know people who lean left and they have a right to their opinion as do I. That is what moves this country forward, we need to listen to one another and come to conclusion that benefits this country. Again Brother THANK YOU for your Service and Sacrifice and yes I will say it every time I watch one of your reactions. I realize what you sacrificed for every American citizen and to me you and every veteran deserve way more than what you receive from this Nation and it's citizens!

I know the feeling. I am a 34 white female. I grew up with a single mom raising 3 kids living on food stamps. My dad paid for us as far as rent but other than that it was all my mom. It was never easy and as I grew up and now have kids of my own we are on foodstamps struggling. My boyfriend works a full time job and everything just seems to get more expensive.

I'm glad that there is artist like Tom and Adam out there. I feel as a white woman I can't even express an opinion on the race (or trans) issue as I would be accused of racism and if my work found out I would be hauled into hr and most likely end up unemployed.

Feel ya there. Sux that some of us are silenced just so we can stay employed so we can continue to take care of our families. Not that the dollar means much anymore. I took home more in 2019 and made less than I do know. Everything is soooo expensive that we can't even survive with more coming in. And then we are out trying to survive while also being silenced so we can eek out a little income. Race, religion, gender, and any other issue someone believes strongly about is no longer discussed and there is no agree to disagree. I moss the days when we could live together in our communities without being worried that we will say something that will cost us what little we are getting. When we could just live and let live. And when our dollar counted for something.

I’m not from USA , apparently the colour issues come round every four years ! ? Between the cycle folks on news don’t mention it ? Would appear that these artists are making sure the news crew don’t forget. Apparently the topic is extremely important to the news crew ( every four years) the gov must really appreciate these artists for reminding folks continually ? least we forget

I was raised that everyone is equal. There are going to be bad apples no matter what color skin people have but God created all of us equal. Bad things happen to everyone. Problems rain down on the just and unjust. As for our government they do not give 1 fig about anyone outside their economic status. We serve 2 purposes to them. To do the grunt work that they don't want to do and to help them continue to line their pockets. While our President makes enemies of other countries and makes us a joke to the rest of the world. I wish I had a solution because it makes me flippin angry.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door! The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc.
You will notice that there is no mention of color, creed, country of origin, sexual orientation, gender, religion or any number of other attributes where humans rate each other as better or worse than others within the same attribute. I grew up being taught the America was the Melting Pot of the World (to make an unbreakable Alloy of Humanity).
