Toby was a true patriot to our servicemen and women and the country as a whole.
He had a beautiful voice for soulful songs and could bring it with the fun songs.
I have no tolerance for anyone who doesn't give respect and gratitude to our service members past and present.

Toby Keith's passing was especially difficult for me and my family. One of the last pictures I have of my brother Sam before he was killed in action in Afghanistan was standing with Toby Keith at a concert event with the troops. Rest in Peace Toby and my brother Sam will be happy to see you again on the other side ✝️❤️

My grandfather signed up for WW2 when he was 16 years old. He lied about his age of course but he served on the Pacific side of the war. And I am so proud as his granddaughter let me tell you. I was lucky that he came back alive. Only thing that saved him was that he got injured from an explosive that went off in there camp somewhere. so they sent him back.
There will never come a day or I don't think about you for what they do. Or take for granted the freedom that they have provided us.
Thank you to all the service men and women out there. And God bless those who could not make it home and may your soul rest in peace.

Thank you for your service! My grandfather was an Old Breed Marine fought in World War II he passed away on August 30th, 1990.
Every day while working at Walmart you come through my line with a veteran hat or something showing you are a veteran one of the first words out of my mouth are "Thank You For Your Service" If the Veteran was a Marine I say "Semper Fi" You come through my line in your uniform it's the same thing "Thank You For Your Service" you come through the UScan where I'm working you're going to see me approach with a thank you.
If you aren't wearing something that shows you are a Veteran and during our conversation I find out that you are one I say "Thank You For Your Service" If it's not obvious which branch you were in I do ask
Sometimes even with the Vietnam Vets I also add "Welcome Home" A younger generation Veteran told me that I should say that to the Vietnam Vets

I absolutely care that our men and women in our military are willing to sacrifice it all for us. There's no words to express that enough. Thank you for your service. Thank your lucky stars that you served in this generation. My brother served in Viet Nam. (He was a Huey Mechanic). When HE stepped off the plane when he came home there were people waiting for the soldiers to disembark...they shouted horrible things at them, threw rotten fruit at them. They got treated like shit. There are assholes today that treat our soldiers like crap, but nothing like they treated my brother.

I think you may appreciate Toby's song that he wrote not long after his (military) father passed away, as well as the 9/11 attack on our country. "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue". A little more uplifting, yet gets the message across. Apparently, he started out singing this just for the troops during his tour performances (of which he did many). But, some higher up commander suggested he record it for everyone to hear. SO glad he did.

Love your reaction, and your honest words. From an old Vietnan Era AF Vet. I hope things are better for your generation of service men, as far the ugly treatment from our countrymen.

RIP Toby! Your music lives on! Thank you to all who have served. Also thanks to all the families who sacrificed and the real women who stood by their men! Nothing more shameful than those tramps who left their men during war! They are a disgrace to the nation!
Patriot from generations of fighters back to WW1-Present.
Brother, if it comes to our soil, this 56 year old gma will stand and deliver as will my family!!

I tear up every dang time. My dad was a civilian shoulder in the fire department but the trauma, the death, the PTSD is very similar. He did a lot wrong (untreated ptsd doesn't work well with small children) but my dad is a damn good man. I've attended dozens of soldier funerals including some visited by the West Borough Baptist Church as my father was a member of the color guard. I've known how to fold a flag as long as I've known how to fold a shirt.

My sister went to a concert back in the lead singer for the band stated "I don't give a f**k if you support this war but you better damn well support our troops". My family has a lot of military servies, my maternal grandfather was in the Army-Air Force he was a Pararescue, My Mother, her sister, and one of my uncles were military. My Father was military, his father was military. My brother was military and those are just the ones I know of, my sister wanted to be military but just like me she will not qualify. Mine being that I will always NEED to be on a mood stabilizer which is normally used for depression (not why I'm onit) and my sisters was for other reasons.

I think it’s so important for people to separate their feelings of disagreement with war and certain conflicts from the individuals who serve. There’s stuff our country went to war over or did during wartime that I think is awful, but I still love and respect those who serve. We should blame the government or the specific politicians, not our men and women who serve! Thank you for your service brother!

I was US Army late 70s to mid 80s, and yes the uniforms and protection has changed. I came in just after Vietnam and we still had the cotton fatigues and was transitioning to the perma press fatigues. Early 80s we started to transition to the BDUs. All we had for protection was the steel helmet and of course, as you mentioned, it wouldn't stop a bullet.
After being a civilian now for almost 4 decades, I still have a great respect for our service men and women. Oh, btw, I left the Army as an E-6 Staff Sergeant and the pay in the mid 80s wasn't great, even as an E-6.
