Your English is a lot better than my Japanese! My compliments to you for going into the real detail of these wonderful reels. I can now throw a small balsa wood Shad Rapala further than ever before!
I definitely want to get one, as for what I’m going to use it for ? I have a Aldebaran 31 and 51 already but I love finesse fishing and conquest reels so it will find a place in my arsenal.
Not sure if you are looking for a left or right. The lefty is just up for booking on some of the JDM websites, Shimano says they'll be available around April (but who knows...). BTW, I love the Aldebarans as well.
Great work I appreciate the new channel I'm from Toronto, Canada. Would you know if calcutta te 50gt is small then the new 30. Look forward for more of your content we have the same taste in gear.
Hey my Canadian friend, I'm not far, just a couple hours away~and I love the Niagara River/Lake Erie. I don't know for sure, since I only have the 100 size first Gen, but the new 30 is much smaller than the first gen 100, so I'd say similar size to the first Gen 50.
Hi ! Amazing channel :). Do you think the shallow spool is a real improvement or more à marketing stuff for winning 5m when you cast 5gr lure with braid ? Can we really speak about a reel between the 100 and the bfs, or just a 100 a little bit improve for cast 5gr lures ? I'm looking for a 5-20gr reel (if he can do more that's amazing) and my heart balance between the steez ct sv tw and the calcutta se version.
When using straight braid, the 100 vs 30 won't have too significant difference because the weight of spool does not differ too much. Fluorocarbon is a different story. All the casting distance improvements and lower threshold for casting improvement are usually small (i.e. 5%) because the air/guide/line friction sets the most of the limit. To your question, the 30 is capable of handling 3-20 g no problem, up to 28 g also no problem for me (spoon and deep diving crank baits were tested). The choice between Steez and Conquest is also a choice between low profile vs round -- ergonomics are in play as well. Which ever fits your palm better/less fatigue is better.Steez CT SV TW is a compact reel. Anyway, good luck getting your next dream reel!
I attempted to get the 300MDLD last year, it never arrived in season (was planning to use it for striper/bluefish jigging) so I lost my passion waiting lol These are monster drive reels which are completely different from the 30, 100 and 200 sized Conquests.
Thanks for the great review! I plan to use it for mainly crankbait applications such as OSP Blitz Max, Nishine Chippawa RB Blade. Do you think the reel is tough enough for OSP Blitz Max DR or the Megabass Deep x 300? I fish mainly open water from shore so I use 8lb Seaguar R18 LTD. Planing to pair it with my P5 Madbull.
No problem handle these at all. The gear and everything are the same as the Conquest 100/101, just the spool size. I use Conquest 101 HG just for what you plan to do (and pretty much exactly the same baits your are throwing). Absolutely a powerhouse for deep diving crankbait. I pair it with the St Croix Legend Glass 711H, fiber glass rod, long and strong but forgiving, keep the fish stuck while able to make super long bomb casting (Deep X 300 is my favorite!)
@@BassniperEng Thank you for your reply. Received it a couple of weeks ago and took it fishing twice. Matches very well with the P5 Madbull too. Wanted to get the St Croix Legend Glass 711H at some point but got the P5 Kasumi (for Twitching) and Madbull instead. Since I changed Crankbait stock hooks to BKK Spear EWG 71-SS I keep most of my fish pinned. Especially the ones that bite on long distance.
Thank you so much for the review! I wanted to clarify, is it possible to replace the bfs and 31 spools? Or does the braking system not allow you to do this?
Unfortunately the BFS spool is not interchangeable with 30/31, braking system is the major reason, the dimension of the two are also slightly different.
Thanks for video! Сan you recommend a lightweight spool for 2024 Shimano Calcutta Conquest SE for lures 2g+? I have 2024 Shimano CC SE 31HG and I think this is the best comfort to cast 5g-7g, maybe some lures +-4g, but lures 3g - uncomfortable
After one entire season, still smooth as butter. All my previous gen Conquests have been the same, absolutely the best retrieval freshwater reel on earth, with durability. I've acquired a 31HGSE earlier this year as well. If you are planning for a reel specifically for crankbait, spinnerbait, chatterbait or buzzbait etc, this is the way to go.
Have not but all measurements including the braking cup on the side plate are identical. But that might make it look like Frankenstein Conquest IMO lol
@@BassniperEng I'm gonna try this once Digitaka notifies me of more Conquests in stock. I already have the gold Conquest and can't wait to try putting together a two tone colored reel.
Still not the true BFS-- I mean if you want to do BFS for bass, yes absolutely, but if you want to target things down to 1gram or 2 grams, I'd go after Conquest BFS.
Shimano says April and a couple JDM sites just started taking orders last week. Let's see if Shimano would be on time this year. They been slow in the last couple years lol
looks like this will be small for my rod then.. ill be throwing 20+ grams lures ... fishing mostly in 10 to 40 foot of water in the bay .. maybe ill just get the Calcutta Conquest MD 300
To me, I am planning to throw top water for mid-short distance (like hitting overhanging trees in the summer) using mono line. 23 BFS is not suitable for mono line (according to Shimano it's for fluorocarbon exclusively...). Also I've tried throwing small (less than 3/8 oz small profile) finesse spinnerbaits and finesse crank baits (Megabass Z2, Z3) on it, it was good, but expected. No superb improvement.
There is a piece of transparent plastic sheet beneath the holes. It has been this way since gen 1 of Conquest. No problems with dirt going in. However, this year Shimano completely removed the end cap of new Poison Adrena, I’m with you on that one lol let’s see how many spiders the new PA could collect 😂

Cool buddy, this does make me feel much better of making more vids in English 🐟
Excellent video with information that has been hard to find on these SE models. Thanks for taking the time to make this video in English
Your English is good brother. Thanks for making an English YT channel 🙏🏽

1st time watching any of your episodes, very informative as we dont have this data readily available in Australia. Look forward to future videos 👍
Thanks mate! This is the only episode on this channel so far lol editing the 2nd now~stay tuned 🐟

Thank you for your amazing job doing the video in English I love those reels Japan made is always the best quality in the world
Beautiful reel, and beautiful rods as well!
Awesome and thanks for sharing. Got to share this on my FB .

Hopefully they will bring this colour or silver in 200 300 and 400 size Calcutta conquest models.
Customizable color choices for reels~this should not be too tough to do.

Can you compare casting the conquest shallow edition with the normal spool n the 21 spool
Hi,
Thank you for the video.
Can you make video for calcutta conquest MD 400 long handle vs regular handle.

Also what are the differences in braking profile between centrifugal vs. magnetic brake versions in your opinion?
super different. I made a video specifically talking about this on my other channel. Planning to make the English version this winter (aka now).

For that range of lures I'd go with any BFS options, or perhaps take a look at the Hedgehog Studio webpage lol
@@BassniperEng Of course, for that range of lures 2g+ I use 23 CC BFS and 22 Aldebaran BFS.... but if you want black reel with light spool?)))
spools have different diameter of svs brake module, so they perhaps they have different brake surface ( ring inside cap)
Both measured 15.40 mm at the base and 14.60 mm at top. SVS ring both at 18 mm.
Can you fit the 100 spool on the 23 bfs as well? Im trying to create a xg calcutta conquest with a 100 size spool
No sir, BFS is mag brake, these are centrifugal, also with different dimensions.
Friend, would you use it to fish wightlees and light Texas?
no problem casting wise. But I personally don't like a round reel for soft plastic's rod movement. They don't palm as good as low profiles.
Thanks friend 🙏🏻
Hi, how smooth has the reel been for you ? Any geariness developing ?

@ is the conquest bfs23 the same smoothness in retrieve as the 31sehg In your opinion ?
Hello, does the Calcutta SE have a drag clicker?
Yes the start drag clicks when adjusting, also when the drag is releasing line you get the click alarm like spinning reel.
Have you tried interchanging side plates on either frame like gold side plates with gunmetal frame vise versa?
Have not but all measurements including the braking cup on the side plate are identical. But that might make it look like Frankenstein Conquest IMO lol
@@BassniperEng I'm gonna try this once Digitaka notifies me of more Conquests in stock. I already have the gold Conquest and can't wait to try putting together a two tone colored reel.

Cool machine
will this be too small to use with my 7 2 MH rod? i had a 200 cal dc on it before but sold that reel .. this reel looks small like a BFS cal
What are you going to be throwing? This reel, the 21 Conquest 100 and the 23 Conquest BFS has the same dimension.

Why oh why do people spend so much money on a reel that has the side plate drilled to let dirt in. It looks good but is totally impractical.
