@ I went with the Soloking Hicc50 and a TSU elf man, unbelievable how good it is for a sub $200 set up hey! 7ft 5” rod too! Solid light tip.. it’s wicked man. And yeah I’ve heard over east some parts got hammered.. hopefully it calms down soon and ya get back out there !
Great video as always. Love the detail. Think I’m going to go for soft and hard shell tacos just to be safe. I’ve already got the BFS on a Millerods Drifter BFS. Goes really well in particular throwing little cicadas. I lob them out there and just twitch them for a few minutes without retrieving. Goes great.
On the Conquest 30SE paired to a Millerods RB BladeFreak, 16lb braid and 14-16lb fluoro leader, the minimum I can chuck is a 4 gram Rapala Shadow Rap Fat Jack 4gm lure. Can throw it around 20 yards with decent accuracy which is ample for Bass/Perch/Bream in rivers and estuaries. Headwinds make it a bit more challenging! Good video mate.
That’s actually a bit disappointing - should throw lighter or 4g a lot further than that. My latest buy was an aftermarket spool for one of my Revos (4 SX) and it cast 4g an easy 25m with plenty more room to move (not in my backyard though lol). If you’ve got a nice reel with a quality breaking system it’s definitely worth checking out if you can get an aftermarket BFS spool for it.
@ To be fair I was expecting it to cast that lighter stuff a little bit better than it does but when you have a look at the specs the SE really is just a standard 100 conquest with a shallower spool (that actually weighs more than the spool in the 100…). If I didn’t already have the conquest bfs I would definitely be looking in to another spool for the SE
Congrats on the 3k subs! Have you ever tested how heavy the SE can comfortably cast? I was looking at this reel lures 9g and up for bass. Mainly throwing glide/swimbaits.
@@chrisj7929 thanks mate! I’ve cast glidebaits up to 50g on the se haha. It’s probably not recommended but it does it. It would be great for stuff around that deps 115 slide swimmer sort of range.
@@chrisj7929 yep it’s do that sort of stuff pretty well man! The other option if it’s just for bass is the Antares 70a, I’ve been very impressed with it as a bass reel in the rivers
@@fishinjosh how was it casting PE line ? was it bit tricky? my bfs aldebaran shimano i used pe braid and was tricky especially in winds or throwing a bobber cork with a fly on it makes the braids go nuts and bird cast but thats with all bait caster i have that issues, the breaks dont like that set up lure
@ straight through fluoro isn’t anywhere near as popular here in Australia so most of us are use to tuning and casting with braid haha. I’m sure sometime we do it that hard way 😂 the majority of times I’m throwing lures in that 6gram and up range so it’s ok but I can definitely see how a bobber and fly set up would be difficult!
@fishinjosh I got it to work just not the bobber popper with fly or small lure.. breaks on bait Carter don't like it when the lure is swinging wiggling and the breaks freak out and bird nest.. It did do fine on braid 0.4 but it was still tricky especially when switching weight grams lures you need to remember how to cast it soft or harder depending on the lure weight.. was a struggle but I got the hang of it.. I'm back to spinning now using a slp works Exist sf all ceramic bearings and titanium roller it's all maxed out $$$$🤣 almost 1k reel with evergreen Ul jdm rod another 400$ 🤣 just to catch mackerel and light game fish 🐟
Is the se more of a trout stream reel? I cant remeber the frame size of the calcutta congquest bfs. Ive been using an alphas air tw on a phenix k2 b-tx-c 712L blank
@fishinjosh I thought frame sizes were the same but the se is the shallow edition. Like the metanium shallow spool. Figured it would be better for throwing super finesse baits like 3/32 oz.
@ you’re 100% right mate, they are the same size frame but the bfs spool and magnetic breaking system makes it the pick for those super lightweight baits
Congrats on hitting 3K mate, very well deserved!!
@@PredatorTechbaits thanks bro! Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Cheers for the video bloke!
Keen to see another BFS vid from you on the bass or something aye!
I just got my first BFS set up off Ali and love it 🤙🏼

I’m keen as to do a bit more with the bfs gear when the local rivers settle down from the rain

I’ve only heard good things about the miller bfs rods, they sound like a goer 👌🏼
Been looking at both the bfs and the se. Great video and helped me choose mate. Cheers
@@GrantBunn thank for watching mate! Which one do you think you’ll go for?
Bfs looks like the one. Will be for 2g to 10g but mostly below 7g. Thanks again, look forward to the next video 🤙🏼 congrats on the 3k!
Appreciate the video been wondering for awhile ..

Always good info Josh!

Yer I think that’s definitely the minimum it will cast effectively. Do you like it on the miller?

Ever used the Daiwa Gekkabijin air tw?
I've got it paired with an Infeet Z 732LFB
Absolute game changer for throwing Cranka Crabs at pontoons!
I haven’t tried any of the Daiwa ultra light cast reels yet but definitely keen to give them a go!
oh new fish vid ! on bfs reels
