    A better way to determine the spring constant is by applying Hooke's law. Load the spring with different masses and in each case, record the extension. Plot a graph of mass against extension. The slope of the graph is the spring constant. Yeah, this method will take a little time. But it is more accurate than that method you used.

    This is great Sir. You have helped us as physics teachers. However, I think the oscillation part should be faster than you have counter. One complete oscillation is when the spring moves to and fro.

    Its of note here that your oscillation counting is wrong. Again, I know that the spring constant can also be calculated using k = f/e. I think WAEC may want us to measure the extension of the helical spring as more weights are added and then determine the spring constant from the values of F and e. A graph of F against e will be plotted to produce a straight line graph from the origin.

    • @maths-physicshub
      @maths-physicshub  Рік тому +4

      You are right about the counting I started it in the video so I don't know maybe you are just too in a hurry to talk about the mistake...
      secondly, the spring constant can be derived in many ways but it is good if you use oscillation than using extension since the experiment is in that direction...the graph of T^2 against mass M will give you a straight line as well with an intercept, if the examiner will ask you for extension then you will be as to produce 2-meter rules but they mentioned one.
      Though everything is an assumption and it can be wrong or right...I never give you 100% assurance that the question is the real question...
      NB: is always good to show gratitude no matter what you have gained a little direction from the video at least appreciate and drop your contribution not contributing like you are challenging we are all human and I started all of that from the beginning of my lecture...
      All I said is for us to be better am not picking offense but we must learn to be grateful no matter what...
