Thank You. I am a member for 63 years and I love the missionaries. I and 85 and I go with them often to teach investigators. I and my father are former Baptist ministers. We read the Book of Mormon and followed Moroni 10:4. God bless you all.
I went to the Church today and was rapt with an engulfing feeling of The Holy Spirit. I cannot believe it, but I am coming to believe this is The Restored Church, truly.
I had the privilege to sing in this MTC choir before my mission in Los Angeles. We didn't have much time to practice but every time we did it was as if Holy Angels sang the parts in our ears. The spirit was strong, that we cried every practice. What a moment to remember!
Were you shown on TV? Did they show you in this video or during another song, during the session? What year was this? Thank you for serving a mission. You were a true Angel in the lives of the people living in Los Angeles. Heavenly Father loves you. Stay active in the church and never go astray and never go inactive. Smile and be happy. Have a GREAT day and night. Thanks. Thank you. Bye.
My favorite rendition. I love it so much. It is my comforting music during my struggle with alcoholism. It makes me feel a feeling I can't even describe 🥲
I often share this music. Thank you for sharing this story. It is my go to version of this song. It was meant to be sung by missionaries. My initial testimony was via BoM. This song is where i get my testimony of JS. This version can open my heart to all the positive influences from the Holy Spirit.
A wonderful story and all true of how it all began. It was 1820 Joseph was a young boy and he was confused about religion. One day Joseph read James 1-5 and the next day he went into the Grove and talked to God. Satan tried to stop him but he did not succeed Joseph overcame Satan and then the vison opened. Joseph saw a pillar of light over his head and two personages appeared. God appeared first called Joseph by name and said "Joseph this is my beloved son Hear Him" Then the Savior appeared Joseph asked him and the Savior told him "Don't join any churches they are all wrong and they are an abomination in my sight they draw closer to me with their lips but they are far from me." The Savior told him other things which can not be written and then the vision closed and Joseph went home and told Lucy about it. This simple vison is the reason why we have the church Joseph talked to God and became his prophet and with that The Church was founded.
I shared this story with a man in a small park in Hiroshima Japan. The Spirit was so strong, witnessing to my heart that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ did reveal themselves to the boy Joseph who had an honest question. I felt that same Spirit and undeniable witness of truth listening to this.
Whoever is singing at Conference, in whatever arrangement, sings beautifully. I have never been disappointed in any performance during General Conference.
My wife and I are missionary companions. We’re just coming up on 2 years and are extending for another year, if they’ll let us. We love serving anywhere we can.
As the choir ascends in key it stokes my soul to the core. The spirit is so strong with these mighty missionaries as they sing and testify of the first vision.❤❤❤
Bless you dear missionaries. I served in the West German Mission in 1961-64 and continue to study the scriptures in German and often turn to Joseph's "First Prayer." I hope his moments and your singing this hymn 7 years ago find you still moving forward with what Alma called "full purpose of heart."
It helps to know the context for this song, which is, Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you". I've experienced this throughout my life. God cares especially for those who seek Him. As 1 Nephi 7:40 says, "And he loveth those who will have him to be their God". He also said, as recorded in John 14:15, "If ye love Me, keep my commandments". His commandments are the means by thich God blesses His children, as recorded in Mosiah 2:24 "And secondly, he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you" and Doctrine and Covenants 132 20-21, "There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated- And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."... Hear Him, pray to Him, Seek Him and He will care for you
Oh, how lovely was the morning! Radiant beamed the sun above. Bees were humming, sweet birds singing, Music ringing thru the grove, When within the shady woodland Joseph sought the God of love, When within the shady woodland Joseph sought the God of love. 2. Humbly kneeling, sweet appealing-- 'Twas the boy's first uttered prayer-- When the pow'rs of sin assailing Filled his soul with deep despair; But undaunted, still he trusted In his Heav'nly Father's care; But undaunted, still he trusted In his Heav'nly Father's care. 3. Suddenly a light descended, Brighter far than noonday sun, And a shining, glorious pillar O'er him fell, around him shone, While appeared two heav'nly beings, God the Father and the Son, While appeared two heav'nly beings, God the Father and the Son. . "Joseph, this is my Beloved; Hear him!" Oh, how sweet the word! Joseph's humble prayer was answered, And he listened to the Lord. Oh, what rapture filled his bosom, For he saw the living God; Oh, what rapture filled his bosom, For he saw the living God.
There's something raw with their voices. Young, spirited. I love the imperfections and the parts where they seem to transcend to higher levels of singing.
The Spirit Bore witness to me as a very young child, while singing this in Primary, and today over 60 years later, it still makes my eyes leak. I know beyond any doubt that God the Father, and His Beloved Son, the Risen Jesus Christ did appear to the Boy Joseph to begin the ushering in of the Restoration, and Fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
looking for the ASL version of this song. My son and I attended conference onsite that day and the ASL signers were amazing, and it's one of the most beautiful things I ever witnessed
This is my favorite song, so beautiful, they did a fabulous job. What a delight! It truly would be beneficial if in the comment section the words to all of these songs were posted. And if the song has been altered, then in the comment section it should show the way they sang it, so we can praise the Lord with them. The reason why I say the words should be put in the comment section, and not in the video clip itself, is because a person can push translation, and read the words in their own language, if they are not singing it in English with the choir.

It is truely appreciated that his pray in the forest was made in the year of 1819. I testify Joseph Smith is our prophet and he is the servant of THE LORD.

I testify that the young boy Joseph Smith did actually see and talked with God the Father and his son Jesus Christ and the true gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith by the power of God. I know that to be true.
I know too with all my heart that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in that Sacred Grove. The Holy Ghost did witness powerfully to me this truth filling my whole being yet he did speak to me in a very soft and gentle voice. As Moroni says 'By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth if all things.' And still throughout the many years the spirit still confirms this to me. I so witness in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
Yes, the "safety" of all our missionaries--my prayers each night. I read of a sister who died today in Haiti, herself from that torn country. We have the brethren's promise that she and all who precede or follow her continue to serve in the glory of the Spirit World.
Sharing First Vision with a family on my mission, the answer was less subtle than when I asked The wife was in tears saying she could not understand why The husband looked at me and said Could you read that again
We sang this in my stake choir for stake conference about 8 months ago. I counted the amens, I think there were 27 total. I think the part I was singing, soprano, had 10. It was a lot of amens, and I think it was the hardest part.

Did you know Elder Noah Zollinger? He served in Ecuador and was in this choir also.
Beautiful!

Tremendous faith and desire to serve and sing by these fine young men and young women. Wonderful music too.

Amen! That is so so good!!!
It reminds me about my best 2 years!
I had this song played at my baptism back in 2016
As the choir ascends in key it stokes my soul to the core. The spirit is so strong with these mighty missionaries as they sing and testify of the first vision.❤❤❤
Amen. That is so true and so is the gospel!
I'm so happy to see Elders and sisters singing for God

This is my favorite arrangement of this hymn. It was first performed at this conference and proudly my missionary son was in the choir.
Do you know where to find the arrangement?

That was beautiful. I'm impressed with that choir of missionaries. They must have practiced very well.
I Love this music
Thank You for our Sunday service it was nice. I pray for our missionaries safety.

Praise to Jesus, not praise to a mere man 😞
It's "praise to the man who communed with Jehovah," and died for his testimony.
