  • Made a trade for an amp I already have for a guitar that I thought was poop but turned out to be a screaming demon of an axe. Oh well, dont' drink and trade... unless it's for a cat

    I own an RGZ Custom purple guitar. Bought it new in 1994 in the UK. It took some setting up but it is a brilliant playing and sounding guitar. Only thing I changed was the Tremolo spring a year or so ago. Honestly I would never swap it for any other guitar. It sounds beautiful clean and with any effects too. It still looks brand new. You have a nice one there too Chris. Shame people don`t appreciate well played and crafted songs and music anymore for the most part. Commercial music today is absolutely dire trash in my opinion. I made and recorded my own to make up for the lack of good new music. I soon found out no-one else is really interested in retro sounding new music-even though it is totally original and totally professional sounding. Too bad, their loss not mine.

      Bro, you said it. Took me 20 years to make my album and made $78 after it was all said and done. Not to mention it cost me more than 1k in copyright money. Either way, I do music like I did when I was a kid, for the music and for me. I'd love to hear your stuff man, please send me a link. You never know, we may collaborate on something!

    Great looking and sounding guitar! Your playing is just so good! The Dimarzio X2N is a monster of a humbucker!

      That's the only guitar that this pup sounded correct in. I've had that pup in 4 other guitars and they all were not great but for some luck, this great is perfect

    Came for guitar review and stayed for the playing. Nice guitar but I think you could make anything sound great.

    Looking to buy one of these. I saw one with a maple board and an HSH config for $200. Only problem is the headstock decal faded away, but I could tell it is the real deal.
    Is the truss rod adjusted by removing the neck just like on vintage Fenders? Seems like that's the only thing I dislike about this particular guitar. But maybe it's a non issue after all; you don't adjust the truss rod everytime anyway.

      It's a very cool guitar if it's set up to your specs. I hated it at first and ended up changing my mind completely after I restored and set it up for me. Total metal monster this thing. Some people never try different tunings on guitars to where this one was blah in 440 but dropped down a full step, it total shreds. I fixed everything on this guitar, but I always take the necks off anyway for pictures and research so not a big deal for me. But I can't remember if that's the way it's adjusted. I can't stand having to take the neck off to do adjustments as well and don't remember being annoyed by working on this so I'll have to put eyes on it again soon.

      @theittyreport  Рік тому

      Looks like I did have to make the adjustments while the neck is off. Not a huge deal when you have a notched straight edge. Good one is $50 on Amazon and makes it easier to do these things

      @@theittyreport That's cool! I have a notched straight edge myself and those are real handy indeed haha.
      Anyway, I didn't end up getting an RGZ III but I did get an RGX821D for $280. It had a big ol' backbow without any truss rod tension, which I didn't even notice when I was with the seller. Yikes! But I did manage to fix it. I clamped it in the middle to make a slight forward bow and then I got a straight edge on which I then put a hot clothes iron over it. Now it plays like a dream! Honestly could put this up with my RG560 because it's so good!
      I still kinda want an RGZ III. Or maybe my former RGX420DZ would be pretty good too. You can never have enough of them probably!

    Fantastic review 👍
    Do you own any modern day Pacificas like the 812 or 612 or the tele one from the 90s?
    How do you find the Pacifica necks, as I think they feel different to the RGXs

    • @theittyreport
      @theittyreport  2 роки тому

      I don't own any pacificas but I think they are great guitars and basically are the same as the RGZs but with a different headstock. But I also have a modern revstar and a weddington custom so I've experienced quite a few different necks and they were all amazing

    Great, so cool! I just bought an RGZ Custom MIJ which should be restored like you did with yours! Are you interested? 😀

      Absolutely! But if you have the patience I have a whole bunch of videos on how to restore guitars. Let me know what you would like done

      @@theittyreport unfortunately mine is in worst conditions: many scratches on the body first, then maybe it’s worth a refrets and even the bridge is not 100% I think… so it’s a bit of a challenge to restore it … plus the electronic should be watched carefully because the middle pickup in “active” mode does not sound! I should ship it to you 😄

    did you drill a hole in the bridge pickup ring in order to mount the new bridge pickup?
