    It's delivery day! In this video I take delivery of my brand new, 2023 Tesla Model 3 Performance! I'll tell you about my buying experience in 2023, the build quality, and initial impressions of the car.
    I incorrectly stated in this video that the car comes with a chademo adapter. It is actually a J-1772 adapter.

    Dont know if such close inspection is necessary on delivery day. My experience with Tesla has been fine when reporting and fixing a couple of minor issues under warranty, with a mobile mechanic coming to my house. Have owned a range of cars, including Mercedes and BMW, and the Tesla experience has been much better so far. I think the direct sales and support model definitely works in the consumer's favour.

      Agreed, I have had the same experience with Tesla. However, I wanted to get the service appointment set with as many things as I could find as quickly as possible, to hopefully avoid having to make multiple trips to the service center. I would personally not buy a Tesla until you don’t have to do an inspection like that on delivery day. That is what the manufacturing company should be doing before they leave the factory.

      I don't get why people focus so much on this with Tesla specifically. My current car (2021 Acura RDX) came with a ton of small imperfections, I just didn't care because it was a lease. I did mention it to the dealer, and they noted it for lease end. When I got it though, the tailgate was misaligned, the rear bumper also had a noticeable difference between driver and passenger side gaps, and the paint had small chips on the hood of the car. And on the inside, there were smudges on the headliner and the steering wheel had a small tear on the backside near the top. Long story I know, but none of it bothered me one bit, and after a few weeks of driving it I had already completely forgotten about it. I only recall it now because I recently ended that lease to buy a new Model 3 refresh. :)

    It is amazing that Tesla still struggles mightily with panel gaps and other fit and finish issues, they need to get some Japanese engineers to get to their standard of panel fit to what most consumers expect.

    Again, congrats on your new Tesla! One thing I wanted to mention... When you make any driving videos of your Tesla... I hope you do POV style like Winding Road Magazine, instead of what so many are doing now... -Aiming the camera right in their face to where we can hardly see anything but the video poster. I have no idea why people do this? We can hear them just fine without having to see their face for the entire video lol. Hey Ben! My name is Kaydence Madden. I’m 15 years old (almost 16) and am a sophomore in high school. I’ve wanted a Tesla for as long as I can remember. Right now, I drive my parents Honda, Insight. I worked my butt off at my grandparents house and other family members houses to try to earn money and then I got a job as soon as I legally could to also help save money for a Tesla. It’s been a dream car of mine! Right now I only have a few thousand dollars saved up for one. Do you have any tips for me?

      @EV_Ben  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the comment and good luck to you with saving for a Tesla! My biggest tip is to avoid maxing out your budget for a car, even a Tesla. The stress that high levels of debt creates is never worth it imo. That being said, maybe try investing some of that money and see if you can make it grow? This is not financial advice but if you can learn how to make your money grow, rather than sit idly in savings, you’ll be able to afford a Tesla much sooner :) good luck!

    Is Tesla going to fix the panel gaps and the uneven depth of the panels. This is the reason why I am hesitant to buy a Tesla. They need to fix the factories to correct this ongoing issue. Will they provide you a car loaner if it takes them weeks to fix?

    • @EV_Ben
      @EV_Ben  Рік тому +1

      Truthfully I think people make a way bigger deal of it than it really is. It's not something you really think about day to day (at least I don't). If there is any issue Tesla does provide a loaner, whether it is for a day or more. I see other OEMs with the same panel gap stuff all the time, but people really focus on Tesla for some reason. Its up to you but in my honest opinion it is not a good reason to not buy a Tesla. Anybody have a Tesla in a hot state, low humidity but hot desert like. How does the AC work? Does it use a lot of energy and reducing the range?
    Also how does the heater and defroster work, I cannot use one in a car, it dries my eyes several. Anybody have that issue? Heaters in a house no problems just cars.

    • @EV_Ben
      @EV_Ben  Рік тому +1

      Denver is pretty dry and hot in the summer and I will say the AC works well, but I highly recommend budgeting in some window tinting. You can use the app to turn on AC before you get to the car, which helps a lot, and you can leave AC on when inside a store which also helps quite a bit. Still, tinting is a must imo, and I cannot wait to get mine soon! AC does not use very much power or reduce range much at all; heater reduces range a little more but not too bad for heat pump cars (older Teslas have a less efficient heating system and that does noticably reduce range when below freezing, esp at night). I have not had any issues with the heater/defroster drying my eyes. Thanks for watching!

    Tesla insurance?? Is it cheaper or more expensive than standard carriers like Geico for example

    • @EV_Ben

      Good question! Tesla insurance for me was about 1/4 of the price of any other quotes I got. GEICO is VERY expensive for Tesla for some reason.

      @@EV_Ben dryer plugs are really not made for continuous high voltage charging and the risk for fire is certainly greater with that setup.

    • @ProXcaliber
      @ProXcaliber 5 місяців тому

      @@srtman04 You are not entirely wrong, but at the same time you have to keep in mind that in the US we use the 80% rule. To put it simply, if you have a breaker that is rated at 30 amps at full continuous draw, then the proper way to use it is to keep your load at 24 amps. Tesla chargers will automatically detect the breaker maximum limit and reduce power draw to take that 80% rule into account. If it doesn't do it automatically, then the car or app both allow you to change how much draw it puts on the outlet.
