Can't put a price on the knowledge of Nolan and the value of him being there and Isky supporting Drag and Drive. There is a reason they are the leader in the Industry
I really appreciate the in-depth discussion about the cam and lifters. Not that I will ever be running that high end of an engine, it helps us dummies better understand what's going on inside the engine.
Steve Morris did a video on his springs breaking after running a constant 2500rpm for a couple hours on the drive part. He said the broken springs is something to do with harmonic resonance, where all springs have a specific resonance at a continuous rpm for long periods, that will break the spring, especially when your running .900 lift and running 2500rpm.
All the Taylors are badasses! To Dennis, Deb, Alex, Meg, Nick and Todd. This is one really badass family, thanks for sharing all of the adventures. Stay badass! Much thanks to all who provide help and support! Big thanks to Nolan, one of the nicest guys ever to work in the industry, got to meet him briefly at VMP. He is the nicest guy ever!
The best video I've seen from ATR from start to finish! Drama, suspense, hope but at the end smile...all in one! Debriefing with Nolan and Dennis was priceless, we understand more what is the complexity of Drive and Drag competition and the involvement of Isky participating to the events, R&D job. Speaking about competition it definitely flows in Alex's veins..."I want the guitar so bad" "But 3rd place you have the guitar" "yes but I want 2nd place even if the guitar is probably the same" says it all! 😄"Be happy, go fast, stay pretty" has never been truer, what a content! Cross fingers for tomorrow...
Alex, I just wanted to say thank you for taking time to meet my daughter and I at the diner. You made her day and she was talking about it to everyone all weekend. You made a fan for life with her and now I have a new helper in the garage. Congrats on finishing the week and winning the guitar.
Yep I caught that to that When dennis mentioned that steve said he had just done that it was Garrett’s engine was what he was talking about. So atleast garret getting stuck with that had grenade steve sold him and steve being there because of it helped someone out (garret’s not the only one who has had bearing, lifter and oiling issues with smxs frost that organizes Rocky Mountain race week got the same repeated run around from steve claiming his works perfect your doing something wrong that m&m did a work around by running low trans pressures that frost got so Fed up that he ripped his out and took it to a different engine builder and had him find out everything Steve had messed up and fix it and hasn’t had a issue sense which is why he calls it a mad cap 481x now instead of a smx)
Yea dip sh.. McFarland racing runs the SMX motor into the dirt not realizing he's lost 2 gear and been overrunning the engine past 9400 rpms for who knows how long and it's Steve's fault??? Probably not, Garret blew it up because he wasn't paying attention.
Hey Alex! Been a subscriber for awhile and I got to tell you. You are the hardest working lady I have ever seen. You dedicated and you help make the sport what it’s today. Your Dad is a hard working man also. You guys both make us all proud to love this sport. As always stay safe. Good Luck today!!!😀😀
I was trying to figure when I started watching your videos. It is hard to believe the coffin car was only 3 years ago! I was thinking it has been more than 6 years, but I can find vids that go back any further than 6 years. I have always enjoyed watching your Dad trouble shoot and work! Any time you can rebuild or rework in less than a day, you know you have qualified people on the team! Your Dad did a great job mentoring you in the trade! Teaching is force-feeding, but mentoring is directing you in a skill and letting you learn at your own pace. I hope you are goofing off more than working hard! The fun times are easiest to remember! Good job with your videos!
I truly admire the genuine affection and respect she shows her father. I look forward to the day when my son and I can join them, racing our C6 Vette together.
Wow adding displacement on demand on a BB Twin Turbo Chev, whilst playing operation, smile Alex I’m sure you can pull it off on day 5! Good Luck positive vibes going yah way!
It’s very refreshing to see the two of you working so closely together. Alex your dad is amazing. Mister Taylor you have raised a very special girl. How your hole family sticks together is hart warming. This is without a doubt the best video you have ever made. This from a humble 66 year old man. If you will please let us know what you find wrong with the motor and oil problem please. And thank you for educating an old man that loves what you and your family does. But never had the smarts or talent to do. Again great video and thank you all.
Best vid by Alex and Co ever - and the detailed conversation between Dad and the Isky engr was pure gold! Very clearly explained the problem and didn't even have visual aids. More More More like this. Best of luck getting through this.
I worked on gm vehicles for 28 years and I have to say you and your dad are an amazing team. I know he is proud of you and his love and dedication to you is so rare. I cant begin to say how impressed I am with both of you.. I hope i get to meet both of you someday.
God I wish I could have done this with my dad when I was young! These memories will last a lifetime. Love watching Alex and her Dad do what they do so well. She is super legit and the by far one of most knowledgeable and talented females in this hobby. Very bright young lady ❤.
Wow! Awesome show! Thanks for the details. Y'all are an amazing team. Please keep the shows coming. You are building an entire new sport and technology to support it. Thank you!
Only 16 minutes in. Relatively new to this channel. I run a 56' Chev I've had since I was 15 - thus the interest. Already been on the edge of my seat and even shed a few tears. Raced for a while with my son, and this brought back so many memories. Very fitting for Father's day weekend. Watching the interaction between you two - very impressed. Totally legit family race team. New fan forever! Can't wait to see how it turns out, but you all are both total winners in my book already. Great work.
This vdeo was so good 1hr13min felt like 15mins. Thank you team for bringing us along. It was fun and I learned a little about dag & drive valve trains to boot!
Extremely impressed! The conversation with Nolan and Dennis was very interesting to say the least. We ate a cam in our Big Block due to same issue a couple years back. The bar between number one lifters broke and spun the exhaust lifter. I was running valves after a pb run at Enis bracket regionals and could not get lash set looked Down in the valley and sure enough. The information Nolan/Dennis gave was just awesome. Great job overcoming the multiple challenges. Appreciate it guys!
Really impressive watching Alex anticipating everything her dad needs. These 2 make an incredible team, and it's very obvious she's got more shop time than damn near anyone within + or - minimum 10 years her age. EDIT: Just finished the video, and just witnessed the most redneck engineering I have seen in a minute. This entire video shows just how much experience and knowledge Mr Taylor truly a master of his craft
Alex I realize you already know but your dad is extremely impressive and the conversation between your dad and Nolan was so interesting. I never thought about the high lift and the Lash and then the low RPMs it's beating itself to death that was really interesting. Also credit to your sister that was a great video. ( GOOD LUCK )
Just wanted to say..HUGE improvement on your videos. It's awesome not seeing everything a week later. I'm sorry that i don't know who is videoing and editing but they have done a MASSIVE improvement in quality..the minutiae we gear heads like..this was a great video watching you do major service on the car. Thanks for everything and best of luck to you this week!😅
Absolutely superb. What a team effort and what a family. You deserve all that life brings you. Your hard work and dedication pays dividends. All the very best wishes from England.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the longer these videos the better............best drag racing stuff on the planet.......Dennis has raised a true professional drag racer...............................
I love y'alls work, just get it done. Whenever we were testing Intake manifolds at the track on the Pro Stock car, and had to make back to back runs, we used bondo on the china walls. It sets up real fast and you can right back out there. Thank you to Sonny Leonard!
When you was talking about using the cam box to catch the lifter. When you said Steve Morris told you about doing that. It was on Cleetus car. But he broke a main cap to. I watched the video Steve put out about the spring braking at a rpm. Like 2500 they start vibrating. An they bust. When I was young one of my favorite lady drivers was Angel Ceiling think i spelled it right. Now its Alex you are awesome.
I'm confident you'll get to make that bonzai pass tomorrow and seal the deal. Maybe the "peace out" signoff instead of Alex's signature one will be what brings good luck ? IDK, but I'll be eagerly awaiting the finally tomorrow. Hey--just a quick thing--I remember Nick Plewniac having some issues last year, and he determined it was the lifter's relation in height to the oil passage in the bore. He found the different brand lifters had the holes in slightly different locations and with the real high lift cam it was causing issues. BBC also of course. I hope I remember that right..I think I do ! But if anyone can make that thing talk tomorrow it's you two !!
Cleetus had the same thing take him out... had to pull his out the bottom too. He got it fixed but then they found 2 cracked main caps. The amazing thing was he had made his run (high 6) on 7 cylinders and then met Steve at Motion, where they fixed the cam and lifters but then found the cracked mains.
1st time I’ve seen your videos, didn’t know you had a channel… got to give you total respect because you don’t mind getting stuck in and getting your hands dirty Saying hello from England 🇬🇧
The same thing happened to Garrett, i.e. Cleetus McFarland, broke a link bar and had to shove the lifter through the block. Pretty amazing that they got the work done so quickly. Like Dennis said, the ability to change camshaft without taking the whole motor apart saved them some hours.
Dennis, I don't know you...but what I've seen shows me how fantastic a dad you are. Happy father's day Pappa Taylor, im pretty sure you lost ten pounds this week. 😆
With the humorous parking lot chit chat and horsing around at the hotel, I bet not many realize Nolan's cam and lifter smarts and why he is "da man" at Iskey. The converation between him and Dennis after the race was awsum. 👍
WOW, Cam change in 3hrs, ummm wow. Can't say enough, your amazing!! Listening to dennis and isky about a situation. Do think left field alot, and surge in the valve. Have tried huge lash to relax the spring at low rpm. Does slap rockers, pushrods. But might have enough time for a spring to relax and not surge.
I really enjoyed the back and forth between your Dad and the guy from Isky Cams. I think it would be cool if they could design a rocker arm with a variable ratio, using an eccentric in the rocker, so you could dial in less ratio for street driving, and bring it back up to 2:1 for racing. That would eliminate the low rpm lifter 'bounce', and yet be a quick and easy adjustment to get race ready, without actually changing the rockers themselves. Just a thought...😉 Anyway, well done Alex. You rock!😄👍👍
With fathers day coming up, you girls better do something special for Dennis cause that man is amazing.
the best dad ever for those girls
Dude is a machine!
Differently the dad I need to be lol
I think he enjoys it just as much as everyone else, if not more…
@@Kingcadillac816 and listen to you right now. That dude works his ass off! I’m sure he wipes his ass with people like you.
And those ladies and gentlemen are two “REAL RACERS” Father and daughter!👍👍👍
It’s so obvious that Nolan at Isky really knows his stuff, it’s impressive Isky’s commitment to the Drag & Drive community.
Well done.

The ability of Alex and Dennis to remain cool and calm with all going on is very impressive.
I lost my father last year and I miss him so much. I love that you and your dad are close. Treasure every moment
Dennis never ceases to amaze me, And Alex, his surgery assistant together, perform miracles.❤🎉

You guys are just plain AMAZING!! a great week leading up to Fathers day with the greatest dad ever!!!!
Answer is YES and you made the #2 SPOT. Great job ATR Team
Steve Morris with that little lifter cardboard trick on cleets car just the other day.

It's killing steve not to jump in there😅
You guys drew quite the crowd whilst working on the car. Hard work pays off. I wholeheartedly believe that. Well done Taylor crew.

The suspense is killing me! Amazing keeping that motor Alive. Dennis Alex 👏👏👏
Big Respect for you two for what you had to accomplish in such a short timeframe. Excellence Team work. I was pissed with that 7.0 too.
Listening to Nolan and Dennis is like listening to a couple of professors.
Great family, i also like Steve Morris just pops by to offer tips and its not one of his motors
Steve Morris is the best encouragement you'd ever need!🍻 (He just uded this trick on Mullet) All the Dad's came together for Alex and her Chevy.

Wow you two have thrashed and thrashed! I hope you can do the one more pass and hold that second place. Good luck! I will be waiting for the video.
That was an amazing video. Seriously, it’s on par with any Hollywood car show out there. Kudos! I’m on the edge of my seat for the next video.
You really deserve a podium place. What an effort you guys and girls put into this. good luck Taylor family
Oh so wonderful, thank you Denis, thank you Alex, this is Love hard work and passion, you will always succeed with these, go you wonderful people
It takes special people to bust a engine open in the sun, wind and work together and no blood show up or bad words. Got to love you all.
wow, watching this video is awesome. you and your dad are in-sync. perfect team.. happy fathers day to your dad! cheers.
BEST documentary style video you have ever done and simply great content !
I think Alex Taylor is amazing in every way
When you was talking about using the cam box to catch the lifter.

That was awesome to watch! Great seeing you and your dad work like that. Kind of emotional
Dennis shines once again. Kind of looks like he's done this once or twice before.
Wow, sooo much drama. Makes for good UA-cam though. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, pulling for you guys. FULL SEND!
1st time I’ve seen your videos, didn’t know you had a channel… got to give you total respect because you don’t mind getting stuck in and getting your hands dirty
Saying hello from England 🇬🇧
Bad ass video. Great work. Especially liked the Debriefing with Dennis and Nolan. Meg Your doing great capturing everything and editing it together.
What a thrash, you both are amazing, to pull that off and make that run. Heck yeah 👍🏼
What a great family!!!! And a great team!!! Go get em tomorrow you guys!!!!
Good Nolan points about valve spring rates and cam lobe ramps. (So many elements to take into consideration).
Truly a team effort. I applaud the whole team. Love to meet you guys when your coming to Calif. 80yr. Jim rio Vista, CA
You guys are awesome. Good luck tomorrow.
With the humorous parking lot chit chat and horsing around at the hotel, I bet not many realize Nolan's cam and lifter smarts and why he is "da man" at Iskey.
The converation between him and Dennis after the race was awsum.
👍
Never quit !
Team Taylor is the best ❤
Is that David Freiburg (sp?) on the track announcements?
Just curious.
No, it’s Derek Putnam

Great video and some interesting discussion with Dennis and Nolan. Much appreciated.
Gettin it done ......love this channel so much family is everything 🙏❤️🙏
Amazing team work princess and Dennis happy early fathers day bud have a great weekend Taylor's ❤later
