Most people would still call current Ariete or Centauro armor the same
@@mateuszk3812 The Centauro is an armoured car, it's pretty much flat out impractical to try to protect those from anything heavier than autocannon in any case. They're very much hit-and-run and ambush combatants.

Not to mention that, its a wheeled tank / TD not armored car but still its armor is much lighter than almost any other counterparts in active service
And the other countries modifocations to their wheeled tanks proven that its not impractical to have some armor even on wheeled tanks, mostly to counter light/handheld AT measures, because hit and run/ambush situations are ever so more rare when fighting asymetrical warfare or enemies with proper night vision.
For example USA added composite / anti-heat screen armor packages to its Striker, and Japan had a proper multi-layer armor on their wheeled Type tanks. Not enough to stop main caliber tank kinetic rounds but enough to let them operate with some confidence not just relying on "not be seen" layer of survivability onion
That's why Italy tried to developp uparmoring packages for Centauro, but it was hampered by its main armor not being thick enough to add era without additional modifocations. And to be precise, Centauro in its base armor isn't even that much autocannon-proof, more like 50.cal proof with some parts being autocannon-proof. It improves with tested armor packages but not that much on export models, like the ones Spain got - with thin additional steel plates.

Note that the Germans specifically designed their AA gun mounts to be readily capable of ground fire, as also did the Italians and Soviets. For whatever reason the Bri'ish and Yanks _didn't_ which is why you don't much hear of their equivalent guns pulling emergency Pakfront duty.

I'm gonna go out of my way and bet that you still haven't yet noticed that AA MG of P40 which is using "oar" mount is welded down to only turn with the turret. And that's in bug reports for 4 years. That AB41/43 lack their smokes. And that's in bug reports for 4 years. That M13/40-15/42 line lacks their track armor that you see on most of their photos. And that's in bug reports for 4 years. That Breda 501 lacks assistant driver and two more loaders. And that's in bug reports for -4- 2 years. And that's before I start on aircraft and other ranks.
So please, tell me what have I not noticed in P40 that it is considered an equal of Pz.IVG, Churchill I, M4A1 and T-34(1940)?
Maybe it has penetration of Kwk40? Armor of Churchill? Insane APHE like M61 that penetrates 100+mm on top of stabiliser? Speed and volumetric hell of T-34? No, you get turret and mobility of Pz.IVG with an APHE and 4 men crew of T-34. I know that you're happy to have even that after the hell of M15/42 that was forced two BRs above itself when L6 was nerfed and moved to other spot, but it's not a great tank. It's not even a good tank. It's barely passable. And you applaud it. That's how far you have gaslighted yourself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
