Hi, in many of your videos you absolutely recommend Intel CPU that too with iGPU for video editing. But here we are discussing AMD processors? 🤔 Could you please clarify? Isn't iGPU necessary?
The AMD Radeon RX 6800 and 6800 XT come with 16 GB of VRAM and a 256-bit memory bus, compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, which has 8 GB of VRAM and a 256-bit memory bus, and the RTX 3080, which features 10 GB of VRAM and a 320-bit memory bus. Given these specifications, I would imagine going with the RTX 3080, but this isn't intended to be a budget PC. Can someone explain how these specs work with video editing?
Aaaa Im having vertige ang big headache 🙄 im looking for change my old msi rx570 8gb gpu and to couple with my intel i9 10900 for flawless 4k editing. Im already exhausted to find performance /price friendly gpu. All other parts are ok, high speed ssd, 16gb ram, 4k monitor etc. Heeelp! Oh, yes, pci3 socket with tuf gaming 490. Should I need to wait until price drops?
Hey there... I was looking to build this computer that Matt recommends... but now it seems like you have some pointers and I was thinking. will I be able to run Davinci resolve on it and I'm using my camera a7s 3 from Sony. is this a PC for me, I'm thinking with all those codex that is in the camera??????????!!
12:05 thank you for saying this! as a 5700xt owner i regret ever looking at RADEON gpus, my 5700xt is the worst POS part in my PC and the vain of my existence at the moment. Horrible encoder both in stability and performance, constant crashes & freesync being broken have been my daily routine for the past 1 1/2 year. The more people that know to avoid RADEON for anything other than using their GPU as a toy (and only a toy, gaming is the only thing RADEON does well) the better.
Thanks. Great Video. I will probably choose the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU. Do you have a recommended Mother Board which has built-in graphics?.... having trouble finding GPU graphics cards in stock. Looking for a simple built-in Video that can be temporarily used for non-Adobe Graphics programs until upgrading to discrete Nvidia GPU when better stock available..... Or just use an inexpensive PCI Video card?... for mainstream use until adding Nvidia GPU for Adobe Premiere.
For me it is like the additional info and additional consideration. Both of you are superb, I like the idea of this video. Do it again for other people, off course, the intention is just to give better alternatives, great job man 👍👍👍
also for m.2 i would go wd black 750 or adata sx 8200 pro both have better performance then the 970 evo in fact they compete with the 970 evo plus but at a lower price then it.
It doesn't matter how many subscribers someone else has, I trust you out of everyone else in terms of finding the best options for PC Parts, and how they actually correlate to improving the editing experience, and performance.
I want to upgrade my old I7-3900K to something pretty powerful, the mid-high range system. But given the current insane GPU prices, what do you think of using my current case (Corsair), ps (SeaSonic 750w), and maybe cooler (Phanteks), your recommended build components AND, this is key, using my current ASUS GeForce 970 gpu until prices come down? I've got a large backlog of non-4K video to edit (~150 hrs), but it will be 4K from now on.
You may not believe it, but I just ordered Matt's recommended case via Amazon, so I'm happy I came across your video. I'll cancel the order now and get the Corsair. I'll also review your other recommendations to see where I can save some money and get more performance. Thank you to both you and Matt. Great work, guys.
Thank you for the valuable tips (especially for the Nvidea vs. AMD stuff). When I watched Matt Johnson's video, I was skeptical because I expected more for a $1500 PC.
Thank you for the tip on the AMD vs Nvidia option for video editing. I was considering AMD, because of the bigger amount of Vram maybe contributing more than the Nvenc encoder for some of the deals I may see (main prize I was aiming for from the start was the RTX 3080). But at the SSD section, why didn't you reccomend a Gen 4.0 m.2 drive? Since the gen 4 capable slot in combination with the noctua options and GPU backplate are hindering you to access it afterwards.
Don't think i have seen any benchmark that the pcie gen 3 was bottle necked with media creation... Though read and write speed would.. but max speed of gen3 might still be enough and gen4's higher maxspeed might just be more headroom when changing to am5 or intel platform in the future
I had a chance to get a 5900X and I went with a 3900X. I did the same thing with the 1700X vs 1800X on sale when the 2700X was out. EDIT: Ayy the ASUS Gaming TUF Motherboard is great! Much better than my little sisters B450. THe TUF has the connectivity that avoids cards for wifi, PCIe based SSD's, etc.
I agree with most of your comments (although a few are personal preferences and budget). The one usage case I think should be mentioned, because it is not your usage case, is a machine used for both video editing and gaming. In that particular use case a 5900x makes more sense than a 3900x. The rest of your comments are quite valid, I think.
Absolutely! Although both of the videos have been targeted to Video editing solely and no gaming mentioned. If it was mentioned the yes 100% the 5900x wipes the 3900x out of the platform!
So I followed this build and Matt's opinion and wanted to share my thoughts on the motherboard and RAM aspects that both Matt and TechNotice's discussed. I bought the x570 elite wife motherboard and thought the 3600 mhz Patriot RAM mentioned in this video would work but this RAM is not compatible with the motherboard. I could barely run that ram at 2600 mhz and couldn't run an XMP profile without the computer crashing so I recommend you go to Gigabytes website and in the memory support look at QVL (qualified vendor list) because once I switched to a 64 gb HyperX RAM that was on the QVL, my computer began running so much better and can run it at the full 3600 mhz! Just wanted to share my experience hope it helps!
Thank you for this video. I'm following your guide to put a system together but as you mentioned none of the GPUs are availbale currently. What would actually available card would you buy right now isntead of the 30 series?
Wait tho... the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo is actually a really nice cooler and you can get one dirt cheap... way better than cooling with a stock cooler!
Video is just a bit too late for me. But it are great recommendations. Just bought all the parts and build it last weekend. I started with Matts budget video editing pc. Upgraded that to close the specs of his 1500 dollar version. But was not happy with some of his choices. Found very helpfull information and ideas in your pc build videos. And then had to translate that to what was available in my country (The Netherlands). Biggest challenge was the video card. Anything higher as a 2060 was not available anywhere. Lot of other parts sold out too. In base I ended up with a lot of your recommended specs. Sometimes different brands. Went for the 2060 graphics card for now. It was the best available option. Nothing in the 3000 series available.
i agreed with alot of what u said upto saying the x570 better then b550. This is untrue in fact that b550 tends to have better features and vrm then most of the x570 mobo's this simply because they have not done a revision for 5000 series and b550 motherboards are pretty much the upgrade.
I agree. You should buy on the features you need. If you have no intention of adding additional PCIe cards, the additional bandwidth is mostly wasted. You may need 2.5 or 10 gig networking though. I have a gigabyte vision d, which has thunderbolt 3, which works well (so far!). Asus have a B550 board coming with thunderbolt 4 too, you may want this. All most all (maybe all) x570 boards have a cooling fan on them too, which could sway your decision. There are so many options and feature combinations available, the actual chipset shouldn't be a factor.
. Hi, nice video. I'm Just planning to build my pc for video editing. I have two Big doubts. I'm using H264 /hevc codecs. I usually edit in Premiere pro. I've been reading in puget system that intel I7 or I9 has an advantage for decoding Hevc h264 codecs for quick sync option. I really like more AMD but not sure what to choose considering puget system test. Do you think Ryzen 3900x and Quadro P2200 should reproduce pretty well when editing in 4k? Or should be the I7 11700k with Quadro P2200 the best for editing with no lacks? I just want the Best fluid editing possible experience, not matter to much fast video export process. Hope you can give me your opinion. I could upgrade in the future for a better gpu if necessary.
Hey Mate! So just so you know since premiere pro 14.5 update, the GPU can also decode/encode the codecs, which doesn't give any leverage to Intel. Check out one of their last articles on hardware encoding in PP. So I would go with 3900x since there's so much more CPU power in that chip, but only if VIDEO editing is the main thing you do, if you do other things like photo editing as well, then might consider the 11700k, coz it's got a much better single core Performance. Hope that makes sense. :)

Can you please recommend PC build configuration to handle h.265 files without making proxies the way M1 chip handles Canon R5 or sony A7sIII files? it will be really help
Depends what h.265 it is, if you're editing on PP, then shoot 4.2.0. On A7S III and almost any PC can edit it coz it's hardware accelerated. I recommend watching my video on which codecs are hardware accelerated on Premiere Pro. :)

Great vid! Looking into buying my first pc. Mostly for video editing (1080p 60fps) (30-45min) and casual web surfing. I already have built my PC and went with 3200 MHz of 64Gb RAM with my 5900x? Would there have been a major performance difference if I had gone with 3600?
I'm kinda giving you numbers from thin air right now, but I think (if I'm not mistaken) there could be up to 10% performance difference in Cinebench for example. Now don't quote me on that, I'll have to find the place where I found the info, but I kinda remember something like that. I would still recommend the 5000 series if you can afford it over the 3000 regardless if it saves a hundred bucks at each tier. The IPC gains are massive. At the same clock speed, its more efficient. If you game on the side after doing work, you're definitely going to want the better IPC and faster clocks the 5000 series it can. Yeah in premiere the jump in performance is marginal, but in any other task, the 5000 series is so much better. In less than 8 core threaded workloads my buddy's 5800x is so much faster than my 3900x. There's so little programs that actually will max out a 3800x, let alone a 3900x (in terms of core utilization just to be clear). In so many cases, frequency and IPC are more important than the 4 extra cores. That said, either generation trounces Intel's stuff. So I get if the name of the game is budget, sure. But if you can spare the money, and do other things than just edit video, the 5000 series is so much better.
If it's purely video editing, I'd go with 3700x, if it's anything else as well, like photo editing, gaming etc. the 5600x will be better since the single core performance will be better.

3080 vs 6800 is not even 10% difference and you´re saying AMD cards are really bad for premiere... Sure if u get both cards for the same price, the 3080 will be better in premiere. But the difference is nearly unnoticable and only worth a few bucks imo

Im already exhausted to find performance /price friendly gpu. All other parts are ok, high speed ssd, 16gb ram, 4k monitor etc. Heeelp! Oh, yes, pci3 socket with tuf gaming 490. Should I need to wait until price drops?
your "extra fans" and "other airflow" options are the same link.
😇
Do it again for other people, off course, the intention is just to give better alternatives, great job man 👍👍👍
Thanks dude! What other people reactions would you like to see? :)
also for m.2 i would go wd black 750 or adata sx 8200 pro both have better performance then the 970 evo in fact they compete with the 970 evo plus but at a lower price then it.
When I was building my first pc a couple years ago I watched Matt's video and I was like "Nope"
It doesn't matter how many subscribers someone else has, I trust you out of everyone else in terms of finding the best options for PC Parts, and how they actually correlate to improving the editing experience, and performance.
😇🤓
exactly ❤️
Does anyone know where I can find a pc parts list for heavy photo editing and 4k video editing? Thanks I’m advance
😇
GPUS are not almost triple the cost since this discussion any suggestions?
For the case would you go with the Corsair 4000D or the be quiet 500DX?
If I go with the 3900X cooler, do I need to purchase an additional one like the Noctua?
Any Monitor recommendations?
Thank you.
I thought it was just me, that felt this way.
😉👍
Is the information in this video still relevant today? September 2022
Very glad I ran into you!
Hey, thanks for that! :)👍 very helpful!
@@theTechNotice No problem! Thank you for all the PC advice on your channel I really appreciate it!
Since both GPUs are still sold out, what should I get instead?
Thank you for this video. I'm following your guide to put a system together but as you mentioned none of the GPUs are availbale currently. What would actually available card would you buy right now isntead of the 30 series?
Honestly, there's no GPUs in stock, I'd just wait :)
This was very helpful, thanks!
Wait tho... the CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo is actually a really nice cooler and you can get one dirt cheap... way better than cooling with a stock cooler!
2060 is a great Card! :)
i agreed with alot of what u said upto saying the x570 better then b550.
Hi bro can you tell me if my pc still good for 4k and 6k editing in 2021 I build it 2017 spec
X99 Micro 2 motherboard
i7 6900k
32gb ram 3000mhz
2 1080gtx sli
500gb M.2
2tb ssd
1000w psu.
Hey man, really cool video/reaction.
I have a question about photo editing.
Im planning to buy a laptop for photo editing with Lightroom and photoshop and some small gaming.
Would you recommend the MacBook Pro M1 or the Razer Blade 15 advanced? 🙈
Thank you so much
Go have a look at Ben G Kaisers channel, he is the master of Laptop reviews for creators :) @bengkaiser
@@theTechNotice thank you :) I already asked him, because you both are my favorite tech guys. Your content, style and personality is amazing ☺️
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. You have explained things extremely well because I will be able to save a lot of money!
😇👍
@@theTechNotice you are an excellent UA-camr and expert in your field because in the last 4hrs I have watched more than 15 videos on your channel. Fantastic content!
Are there any Nvidia Quadro cards that you would recommend for this application? I want to be able to use the PC for 3D modelling also which will require a Quadro card.
Can we use Ryzen 5 3600 if we are tight on budget? And do Nvidia cards work well with DaVinci Resolve too?
Yes and yes.
I am researching a video editing PC. I had a decent gaming rig that I started using for work when I got an editing job. It’s geared towards gaming so it doesn’t have the best editing components. It’s been okay so far but my A7siii arrives next work and I’m wanting to upgrade my PC in preparation for the h.265 codec and 4K. I have a 2070 super which I intend to keep in the rig because of the current situation.
All that to say what would you recommend I pair with a 3900X and a 2070 super?
But if you are buying the CPU that comes with a cooler do you need an additional cooler?
Not necessarily, depending how adequate the included cooler is.
@@theTechNotice thank you so much. So i guess there is no PC configuration which can play back 10 Bit 4:2:2 H265 files like M1 Mac systems.. any lead about new hardware coming for playing back such files? One more thing if you can guide... is there major difference in quality of 10 bit 4:2:2 vs 4:2:0 ??
Great guidance as always.
👍
What app did you use to make your logo?
Bro thanks for clearing my doubts. Now I think I should get the 3900x instead of the 5900x as 5-6 percent is not a lot. Keep up the good work. ☺️👌
👍
His recommendations for editing PC's have been on the anemic side as of late.
Yeah I like that RAM I got the 8 * 2
What about VRM?
Hi
I have built a pc couple of years back
Which doesnt perform as good as a laptop which is much lesser spec tha my pc
Laptop ryzen 7 5800,16gb,3050 graphics
Desktop i9 12900k
32 gb ,zotac 3060 twin 12gb with cooler master aio what should i do to get better performance than laptop
×× mb - asus tuf z690 wifi d4
Would 3060 work? Or is it only 3060 ti?
Is AMD 5900X would be a good option for Video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro? Or 3900x would you recommend?
5900x is awesome!
@@theTechNotice Thank you so much !!
Matt Johnson is always a best tutor 🔥
👍
I got a amd radeon rx 6900 xt phantom gaming d 16g oc and I’m a photographer who edits big files. Would this work for me?
Yes, but very much overkill. All photo editing gets done 99% on a CPU rather than a GPU ;)
Thank you for this. I am a total newbie, never done this before but dont want to pay thousands of dollars for someone elses work. So I am going to give it a go. I need mine for graphics and video editing so I will be sure to follow all the recommendations. Although the GPU may be a bit difficult at the moment. Do you have any more recommendations on those as availability is very slim :(
Just stay persistent and see if you can score a gpu+motherboard deal on Newegg, abit easier than just GPU :)
Great vid! Looking into buying my first pc. Mostly for video editing (1080p 60fps) (30-45min) and casual web surfing. I want it to be future proof, but also don’t want to go od on upgrades I don’t need. I do want a 12 core resend cpu though, any advice on parts after that. Help or advice from anyone would be appreciated.
I think my suggested parta should suit you very well :)
@@theTechNotice Thanks you!!
Hey man, really enjoying your channel and advice. I know NOTHING about PCs but you have made me look at this seriously for my next machine. I have been Mac since 1992 so this is not something I want to do without it being right. I use Adobe suite and your vids make me want to make the jump.
Have you thought about making vids on the best PC for type of cameras being used?
Keep well, keep the vids coming. Loving the content and advice. 🤙
Interesting suggestion. That would be incredibly specific audience. :)
But it depends what programs you use much more than what camera and also what codecs than what camera.
Great contrast, good job.
Glad you like it!
about graphics card, quadro rtx 4000 or rtx 3070 for video editing/3d render?
rtx 3070 is more powerful :)
thanks for this video! one question, for which kind of editing is your setting which you describe here in this video? 4k, 6k, or 8k? or for all in general?
If you go with the 5900x & 3080 then you can edit even 8k. If 3900x then up to 6k depending on the codec and complexity of timeline :)
@@theTechNotice Thanks!
Hey, I’m building a video editing PC and I’m wondering is there a preferred option between the Vengeance LPX and the Vengeance RGB PRO- 2x16.. I’m building it with the Ryzen 3700x and overall performance is what I care about the most. Thank you.
As long as the MHz and the CL is the same there's no performance difference between then two.
(3200Mhz, cl16 for example)
@@theTechNotice thanks a lot! Lastly, do you still recommend the GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Elite Wi-Fi- motherboard as a decent future proofed value option over others in its price range for this same setup with the 3700x. I see that you linked it in the video, just wanted to make sure nothing has changed haha thanks again man!
Yeah, as long as it's and X570 board and has the features you need, you're good to go! ;)
But I do think it's abit funny that on the AMD manufacturers site they recommend 3200Mhz, but asked all the reviewers to test it with 3600Mhz ?🤔
@@theTechNotice Got it, thanks for the info
Would this build be able to handle 3d rendering, cad, matlab ect??
To a point, yes.
@@theTechNotice what would you recommend changing to make it run those programs better?
is the cooler ok that comes with the AMD 9 3900x? or would you get another?
Yes, it's fine if your case has ok airflow!

why compare 3600mhz cl 18 to 3200mhz cl 16 only diff is price
You're the boss👍🏾🏆🇯🇲😎
This dude is so underrated , he explains everything really good

3700x vs 5600x for video editing?
If it's purely video editing, I'd go with 3700x, if it's anything else as well, like photo editing, gaming etc. the 5600x will be better since the single core performance will be better.

Yep, might do :)
3080 vs 6800 is not even 10% difference and you´re saying AMD cards are really bad for premiere... Sure if u get both cards for the same price, the 3080 will be better in premiere. But the difference is nearly unnoticable and only worth a few bucks imo
