Thank you so much, @NationalTheatre. I am working on a play which may very well be best presented in this way. I appreciate learning from you and your team.
Thank you so much for making these videos available for everyone to enjoy. It was wonderful to see the architecture of the Greek stage, the masks and themes.
I know, it's hardly taxing is it? It's rather depressing to see so many lazy young people who apparently have no inclination to learn anything. Pearls before swine. :-D
WHY EVERONE IS FED UP WATCHING THIS VIDEO? Instead of watching it for gaining good marks watch it again for knowledge & fun perspective. I bet you will enjoy the quintessence of it.
@@prank_name3126 I think Losar Gujjar's point was that it's only boring if you're not open to learning something new. I mean, it's only 7 minutes, it'll hardly kill you.
The pictures chosen for the Greek Theatre are all wrong, as the orchestra (the round circle where the actors would perform) was not a semi-circle in Greek times, it was actually a whole circle. The pictures that are chosen are from Roman theatres :)
I'm going to use this along with intro to Greek tragedy for my high school seniors. They're going to be reading Oedipus the King. Gonna be a good time!
All you need to know about Greek Theatre: Scene: A tailor's shop in Athens. Guy brings in a torn garment. Tailor (looking at garment): Euripides? Guy (looking at tailor): Yep. Eumenides?
The guy throwing the cart, (as part of an act no doubt), at the end was kind of random and didn't seem to fit with what they were saying, but aside from that it's very clear and concise :3
Great video but Herodio one of the theatres that shows in the video was actually build by the romans and unlike the greek theatres has a very bad acoustic.
when you read all the comments by students here for class when your school sucks so bad it doesn't get into anything as close to cool as greek mythology.
The chorus could not be the political representation on stage; for the Greeks did not have a constitution which knew of representation of the people in praxi. Therefore, how can it have translated to tragedy?
Not 12 or 14 comedies. We have 11 only extant, all written by Aristophanes, of course. Menander is of the New Comedy (c 300-200bc) which is an altogether different phenomenon.
Who's here because they're actually interested in theatre and want to learn about it from its very beginnings? Who has returned to this video, after having watched it when younger and left a comment about why they were watching it, and now matured to the realization that no one then or now gives a crap about them or why they came here to watch the video, or cares about their existence at all?
