      There is a problem regarding fuel consumption claims. In the video, you said, "The trip computer says..." Both of Toyotas consistently and *significantly overstate fuel economy.* I don't know if Honda also lies. If Honda's gauge is accurate, but Toyota understates consumption by 10%, the Honda may or may not have really lost. Or maybe Honda lies even worse...? Fuel consumption must be measured manually.

    I tested both vehicles before buying any, RAV 4 driving felt solid but heavy to accelerate and found CRV way smoother.
    Considered that and its interior space to make my decision, now I am getting between 43~45 MPG daily with my CRV.
    Both vehicles are good, just choose whichever you feel more comfortable with, to each its own. #EnjoyDriving #DriveSafely.

      @Jazz16-we1qc doesn't sound like you drove the hybrid. It sounds like you drove the regular ICE only version. The hybrid version of the RAV4 is not clunky at all, very smooth and immediately responsive because of the electric motors and doesn't feel like a regular transmission at all because it doesn't shift because it is an ECVT.

    • @1asian1phone
      @1asian1phone 25 днів тому

      @Jazz16-we1qc I owned a 2020 RAV4 hybrid. It was a great car and very responsive and never had issues like you are stating. And a lot of people agree with with me on this since it outsells everything in it's category. Maybe you drove a lemon who knows. I'm sure the new Camry feels better since it's the newer hybrid system and I'm sure will go into the next RAV4 generation. Some people don't want a camry because they need more size in the RAV4.

    It's hard not to choose either the CR-V and RAV4 in this segment. Both are literally the textbook definition of what the compact SUV segment is, and both are top sellers for a reason: versatility, practicality, simplicity, and reliability. I've had my 2021 RAV4 for 3 years now, and I have to say, I love this generation RAV4 a lot. I had the 2017 RAV4 previously, and while it was a fantastic vehicle, this current one takes it up a notch in fuel economy, looks, and practicality for sure. Plus Toyota hybrids are the best when it comes to fuel economy and hybrid technology. I see a lot of Toyota/Lexus hybrids. Even the gas only RAV4, which I have, is also very fuel efficient. I can get between 33-39 mpg in just pure city driving, which is just excellent.

    And this is why I will be keeping my 2007 Honda CRV 2.2 ICDTI with 425000km. It STILL gets 30mpg on a combined cycle. But due for a major service. When i was deciding between these 2 a friend of mine swore the CRV was the correct choice and i almost listened til i drove both and decided on a Rav Prime without any 2nd thought's. My friend is a Honda sales rep so i get why he would be biased but there's just no comparison to the Prime. It has a much nicer looking exterior and is MUCH faster however i did like the CRV interior slightly better. Both are very smooth roomy and quiet. After driving the Prime for 2 years now im very glad i didnt get the CRV. Gas mileage is about 39mpg w a heavy foot in sport mode and you can get 43 miles electric also and is extremely fun to drive. If looking to buy a Rav i would highly recommend getting a hybrid xse or Prime xse but even the Prime se is great if you dont mind cloth and a mediocre sound system.

    It was just much smoother and more refined than the droning Toyota, and max MPG wasn't the deciding factor for me. It got 34 MPG in everyday driving and had an almost EV level of smoothness. And it had acres of torque. The 2026 Rav4 may be revealed at this year's LA Auto Show

      @@meshail59 I’ve rented the cx-50 and own the crv hybrid sport touring. To me, the cx-50 didn’t live up to the driving hype. The crv and cx-50 are very similar when it comes to sporty driving feel. I might even prefer the cr-v because the steering feel is better. While the Mazda may be lighter and so more tossable, The Mazda steering feel has this weird sudden transition between its simulated force feedback, and actual force feedback. If you turn the wheel with the car not moving, it’s really obvious and frankly a bit jarring.
      The interior of the cr-v is also nicer, more elegant and more modern with MUCH better ergonomics- that center dash in the cx-50 is the worst thing ever

    I like the RAV4 overall, but the CRV's styling is superior and if Honda put in a good size spare tire, then it would've make this comparison a little bit closer. But still, I much prefer the Toyota's 4WD system with the electric moto driving the rear wheels.

  • @johncooper2790
    @johncooper2790 Місяць тому +7

    I checked out both vehicles in great detail. The RAV4 hybrid is much louder, has less comfortable seats, and uses far cheaper interior materials. Plus, its exterior is not nearly as modern as the CRV. Frankly, I really didn't like the angry RAV4 front grill look as well. Surprisingly, for around $40k, you get more for your buck with the CRV. Honda does not nickle and dime you the way Toyota does. Toyota substantially adds to the sticker price in various packages as well as many other add-ons. Overall, based on my test drives, I found the CRV to be quieter, way more refined, and more comfortable. The CRV has the better transmission as well, with smoother gear shifts, and it doesn't give off loud engine and road noises with heavy acceleration. Consumers Reports did find the RAV4 achieves about 1 mpg better, barely any difference. Without a RAV4 update, which is desperately needed, as it looks and feels very outdated, I recently bought the CRV AWD Sport L Hybrid. It easily averages 40 to 44 mpg driving about 60 miles to work each day in a mix of mostly city but also highway driving, not bad! So far, I love the CRV! Go, Honda!

      @tinhinnh I'm a Toyota guy. I still own two Toyota vehicles. When I went to select a RAV4, I was unimpressed with the apoplectic front grill, loud engine noise at highway speeds, and unadorned interior. In addition to the quieter and larger cabin, I really preferred the more comfortable, well-appointed leather seats that recline in the rear with the CRV. Thus, I purchased one. I have nothing against Toyotas, I just agree with most car experts: after carefully looking at and test driving both vehicles, the CRV Hybrid is superior in most respects, not all, to the RAV4 Hybrid. Next year could be different as both are expected to be redesigned. Before commenting, test drive both vehicles on the highway, please.

    Love your reviews, but this one I sensed a bit of bias 😅. The extra cargo space in the CRV doesn’t matter, but the few tenths of a second faster 0-60 of the Rav4 is a plus? I would think that space is much more of a real-world benefit than a few tenths at wide open throttle.
    Both are nice, but the nod for me goes to the CRV. Better driving dynamics, no embarrassing drone when accelerating, more engaging feel in day to day, along with more space and better styling. The mechanical AWD is also a plus up here in Wisconsin.

  • @__se7en__
    @__se7en__ Місяць тому +1

    I am surprised that many people don't care about an actual mechanical AWD vs toy-like (40hp?) electric motor for a real axle in a heavy car, which barely ever works even when needed. Also so many people care about panoroof (I just don't get why, if there is a choice I will always choose a regular roof even without a sunroof (how often do you really use it?) What happened with all the people that parked cars without a single camera and now one camera is not enough, considering the parking sensors and emergency braking systems etc... Fuel economy - well, try getting a Toyota (a year of waiting time if not more) and forget about MSRP - there is your fuel economy difference if it actually exists, depends how you drive it (use the B mode or those paddles more often) . Ventilated seats...just don't care, I prefer not to freeze my private parts and how hot can it get in a car with a climate control or you drive for 10 hours straight every day? Spare tire - c'mon, really...when was the last time you got a flat without a single soul around without a cell phone in case you don't have one, it's not an off-road truck so don't tell me you got stuck in woods...buy a 4Runner or Pilot (or at least not a hybrid city SUV) if you plan on going off-roading. Digital display - I will always choose analog if possible. This is urban/city SUV which is great for family traveling. Ride quality, mechanical AWD, overall interior (where you spend most of the time) quality and fit&finish, rear doors open almost 90 degrees - that is more than enough for me to chose CRV. But it all comes down to a personal preference and taste I guess. For some people many things are looked at as a lack of feature/tech/options, but for others it's a big plus, depends what you want and prefer. Thank you for a great video, both cars are great, choose yours!

    For me the crv is a no brainer - as a pseudo car enthusiast - I just can’t stand the steering feel, the suspension, and the lack of fake shifts in the rav4… just feels like an appliance and the softer suspension actually makes me car sick if I’m a passenger… I don’t mind the lack of tech in the crv - I think the smoother power train, suspension and steering really makes up for it. The way the crv rides really is a revelation in this segment
    I went in not ever wanting a hybrid - but the simulated shifts really made me not mind having one at all and loving it! Especially because that was the only way to get the top end features

    • @ydnality
      @ydnality Місяць тому +2

      @ there’s nothing wrong with the rav4 being an appliance - that’s why it sells so well. It appeals to the masses - most of whom don’t know the difference between a nice driving vehicle and a not so nice driving one. Most people just care that it gets you from point A to B reliably. Vehicles sold is also a function of supply and demand. The rav4 prime is much more expensive than a cr-v sport - so different class all together. That being said a driving experience isn’t about 0-60. It just needs to be fast enough - I don’t really care about 0-60. Most of driving pleasure comes from engagement, which the cr-v outperforms the rav-4 via a better and better tuned chassis, steering feel, and suspension. For example, I’d much rather drive a Honda fit with manual transmission than an automatic Porsche. Our family has 3 cars - a model 3, a civic si, and a cr-v hybrid. The Si is obviously the most fun and engaging and what I prefer driving, the cr-v is 2nd, and the model 3 (the fastest straight line vehicle) is last. Reason being its steering feel isn’t as good, and there’s no soul and character without a geared ICE screaming in your face with audio frequencies that are linearly linked to wheel speed.
