Ayreon are always a treat! I discovered many great singers after listening to them. Made me a big fan of Magali Luyten and Marcela Bovio (one of the backing vocals in this vid).
Last night I was lucky enough to see Floor in the flesh in a solo concert. We were blown away. I had 2 tickets, a gift from my daughter so I asked my brother in law who wasn’t familiar with Floor and not particularly a fan of Symphonic rock or metal. I've been lucky to get hands on one ticket for the saturday matinee of the beneath the waves show. To me, it was even more spectacular than the universe show!

One of the few professional actual voice competence people Ive been watching now for years is our Beth. Keep at it, you are like the Toehider of reactors, you actual practice what you preach. Mike just released a Beyoncé cover on spotify btw. I hope you hear it.
Arjen has all but confirmed he will be doing another weekend in Tilburg @ 013 Poppodium. It indeed takes a lot of organizing to get all these amazing talents on stage, but the result is worth it. I've been to the last 2, especially the Electric Castle show was amazing (mostly cause I love that album and the story was easy to follow). You should really make an effort to come visit us then.
Yes! Ayreon is my favorite band EVER. This song is an amazing example of vocal performance from it, but I really recommend everyone to go and watch Electric Castle And Other Tales, it features an amazing cast of voices including Fish (from Marillion). Thanks for this Beth.
“The source” has a number of fantastic singers on it. It’s worth looking at “the day the world breaks down” for the geekery behind the music. Each singer on the album has the role of a character in the story the album tells.there’s also a full length video hilighting each singer as their role comes up.
Please check out Avantasia, another project featuring singers like Bob Carley (Magnum), Floor Jansen, Alice Cooper, Roy Khan (ex-kamelot), and many others. I had the pleasure of seeing them live at Rock Imperium in June and it's the best show I've ever seen.
Another fantastic vocal performance is Ayreon - Twisted Coil from the Electric Castle And Other Tales concert, it is a masterclass in interpreting a song by Damian WIlson.
More Ayreon....!! Arjen is a genius, a great musician and expert. We are waiting for their (his) other songs!!! btw. the backing vocals are sung by sister Floor Jansen, Irene + Marcela Bovio + Lisette van den Berg.
Check out everything from Ayreon. Up to 25 main singers from an epic level combining forces. And these fan-tas-tic musicians.....where to start? They are the top!!!! Arjen Lucassen is composing this epic rock for more than 30 years now. So it is quite a Rabbit Hole to discover. If you are into singing, this is your mekka.
The final piece of the the show "The Eye of Ra" has the entire cast on stage at once and that's an unsane amount of talent. Something close to 18 very talented metal singers and Arjen himself also joins in
Referring to metal singers, “Everybody has such great technique, people really understand the geekery of voice” is almost a profound remark, it’s so true! If only more people realized this, the radio airwaves would be a much better place.
You absolutely should to 'Fate of Man' from the latest Ayreon concert. Brittany Slayes might even de-throne Floor with her vocal performance on that one.

i really believe, there is something special in the Dutch water (or cheese) to have given us so many amazing bands, singers, musicians and producers over the last 30 to 40 years. and Arjen Lucassen is someone who brings them all together with many international singers as well. i think you could really spend at least weeks (or months) listening and watching Ayreon concept albums and live shows. i know i did during lockdowns. This was taken from Universe, a kind of Best Of. The Theater Equation, Electric Castle and Live beneath the Waves are shows were they played the entire album with some bonus songs. it doesn't matter if he gets the original cast together or not. the songs are beautiful. If you'd like to hear more of Maggie, i highly recommend Intergalactic Space Invaders, my favourite from this show. The Day That the World Breaks Down, Isis and Osiris and Day Two: Isolation are from the other 3 Enjoy!

You picked up on Magali Luyten singing lower than the guy's, in fact all the lines Magali sings are sung by male vocalist on the original recording. In fact Arjen uses her a lot to fill in for male vocalists in his live shows.
Fun fact: Magali Luyten is a substitute for Tobias Sammet, who is in the albums "the captain". Tobias, of course, is the creator of Avantasia project. PS: (I can never admit it in public, but Magali did better job than, I suspect, Tobias could ever had in this live setting... :D
i really like your comments and workwomanship and thank you for a great video as always. Tiny caveat about how you handle certain situations. When you pause a video and explain something, then rewind to listen to the same part, please dont pause it again at the same point to explain some other stuff....try to incorporate all your knowledge to one explanation per pause because multiple pauses on the same point in the song/video gets tiring and deteriorates the experience a little. Just my opinion but all in all i really enjoy your videos and i wish you a great upcoming fall!
Seeing these fantastic performers, in their professional setting; I as a musician sometimes get a bit frustrated when I hear myself ( But it doesn't mean i am giving up and stop making music!!!) because of what John Miles sang Music was my first love , and it will be my last! Greetings from the Netherlands.
You think such a combo of high tenor and low alto makes for a musical palette that is more earthy and warm in its net timbre? Generally speaking the lower the voicetype the more warm their higher register, wind instruments included. Overtones leading to tinniness or butteriness or warmth etc.
welcome to Magali Luyten, another amazing metal singer 6:23 the best thing, Arjen is being posting this things on his channel this same week... so enjoy, forget about reacting please, for your own good

Always find it funny how underrated Hansi is when people react to Ayreon. Probably partly since his mixing with Ayreon is always a bit buried for some reason. Even in the title it says "Royalty" and then names three singers whose careers are not even close to Hansi's :D
If you're so amazed by this group of (tremendously great) singers and musicians on stage, you should definitely react to 'Eye of Ra' live: ua-cam.com/video/odcO0SciTUY/v-deo.html
Always amazes me how the backing vocalists get ignored. I have 3 albums by Marcelo and 1 by Lysette. Irene is almost as good as her sister. As a fellow Scot I am not downing on Beth, all reactors seem to do the same.
I would say the adventure begins far in the past, about some hundreds of million years ago. The ten humans and TH-1 the android escape from planet Alpha in the Andromeda galaxy, a planet that will collapse because of some errors that the AI (the 'Frame) made. In their starship Star Blade the humans are converted into the Forever, telepathic, water breathing and not prone to aging and sickness. After the journey the Forever start living and thriving on planet Y which is a water world. Being immortal keeps away death, and TH-1 starts building new constructions to make the life of the Forever comfortable. Still they miss something, the Forever lose the talent to feel emotions. The beginning of the storyline in the album 01011001 is Age of Shadows/We are Forever. The Forever decide to build up a new humanity on a far-away planet with their and local DNA. This is the song Ride the Comet. The Forever arrive on planet Earth and set up our humanity. After much goes wrong, the horrified Forever reach back in time and collect eight random characters to fulfil a quest. This will allow the Forever to collect much needed emotions. Thus this is a story in the future, when the real humanity is gone... The album, and almost all songs are on "Into the Electric Castle and other Tales".

The Day That the World Breaks Down, Isis and Osiris and Day Two: Isolation are from the other 3
Enjoy!
a gem, Star One over twenty years ago. With Floor and Irene Jansen. The 3 worked on a lot of projects together (Irene most recently on Plan 9)

Thank you for reacting to this piece which I **definitely** didn't suggest on Patreon. :)
It's awesome!
You picked up on Magali Luyten singing lower than the guy's, in fact all the lines Magali sings are sung by male vocalist on the original recording. In fact Arjen uses her a lot to fill in for male vocalists in his live shows.
Queen
Finally! What took you so long? 😉
Thank you for reacting to this great song!
Would like to see You doing something with Rebecca V./// Vocals-singing!❤
Fun fact:
Magali Luyten is a substitute for Tobias Sammet, who is in the albums "the captain". Tobias, of course, is the creator of Avantasia project.
PS:
(I can never admit it in public, but Magali did better job than, I suspect, Tobias could ever had in this live setting... :D
Age of Shadows. Seriously you have to. Please
Maggy, kinda reminds me of a Mix between Joan Jett and Tina Turner.
Don't know if you know but of the three background singers, the woman on the left is Floor's sister...
G'day Beth,
😲🔊🔊🎵🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🤯WOW! That was AWESOME!
You know, I love, when people who know their stuff gushing about my favourites... XD
Listen to the song the sixth extinction live from the new DVD, its even better 😂
Next: "And the Druids Turn to Stone" and "the castle hall"
Both songs are with Damian Wilson, a imo brilliant singer
i really like your comments and workwomanship and thank you for a great video as always.
The robotic arms are Betty and Wilma! 🤘🎸
Beth, you need to see a Brazilian singer called Ricky Vallen performing still loving you from scorpions
You think such a combo of high tenor and low alto makes for a musical palette that is more earthy and warm in its net timbre? Generally speaking the lower the voicetype the more warm their higher register, wind instruments included. Overtones leading to tinniness or butteriness or warmth etc.
welcome to Magali Luyten, another amazing metal singer 6:23
the best thing, Arjen is being posting this things on his channel this same week... so enjoy, forget about reacting please, for your own good
Finally!
The industrial robots on stage were baptized Wilma and Betty
Maggy is kind of like a female Axl Rose, she can use her voice in so many ways and it is fantastic.
You knows there is only one person who have been make song lyrics of only 0100110,take an look at the day that the world brakes down, the newest verson from live beneath the waves
Always find it funny how underrated Hansi is when people react to Ayreon. Probably partly since his mixing with Ayreon is always a bit buried for some reason.
Even in the title it says "Royalty" and then names three singers whose careers are not even close to Hansi's :D
Music way to make frankenstein monster. Must say it is sort of interesting.
And the real biologist is in the center of the backing vocals... powerhouse Lisette van den Berg MSc 🙃
To pronounce Hansi's surname properly, just think of Sean Connery trying to say "curse".
Lol
If you're so amazed by this group of (tremendously great) singers and musicians on stage, you should definitely react to 'Eye of Ra' live: ua-cam.com/video/odcO0SciTUY/v-deo.html
Oh yeah, anytime Maggy shows up things just get h e a v y
Please react to Marcela Bovio band called Stream os Passion
Always amazes me how the backing vocalists get ignored. I have 3 albums by Marcelo and 1 by Lysette. Irene is almost as good as her sister. As a fellow Scot I am not downing on Beth, all reactors seem to do the same.
😍😘🤘✌
Please Beth you must to react to The Warning with 'Hell You Call A Dream' from Pepsi Center
You need to give a listen to Falling in Reverse or Dayseeker
