The chorus of singers in the background are known as Ayreon's Angels. From your left, looking at the screen they are: Irene Jansen (Floor's sister), Lisette van den Berg and Marcela Bovio. The woman who had the solo in this was Magali Luytin. Next up, maybe "Age of Shadows" live.

"The other guy" is Tommy Karevic from Kamelot / Seventh Wonder. With the exception of Maggy Luyten all singers were also featured on your first Ayreon song, as this is the 3rd track of the album The Source.
Please do the whole Universe show, it shows a fantastic variety of Arjen's music, every single song is amazing and so well performed.
European metal and music in general has a strong thread of operatic and musical theater embedded in it.
Aryen often drops "the Floor Bomb" :-).

Maggy might sometimes sound a bit scary on stage, but she is such a nice and kind person. I got the chance to talk to her in Tilburg before one of the shows in September.
Especially this concert is worth watching in its entirety to get an overview of Arjen's work since it was a Best Of Ayreon show and the first official concert after 22 years. They play songs from many albums and even a few Star One (another of Arjen's projects) songs. If you go through the playlist in order, every new singer will be announced on the big video wall.
Maggie Luyten is the harsh singer , the Backing singers , all top notch , called Aryen angels . Marcella Bovio , Lizette van den Berg and Irene Jansen ( Sister to Floor)

Tommy Karevik the newest lead singet for Kamalot is the other singer singing with Hansi. Also the three backing vocalists one Looks a bit like Floor Jansen?. That's because it's her sister Irene Jansen.

Tommy is also the 2nd singer on TDTTWBD that stands out with his vocal runs.
Here in Europe are Musicals in the theater still very popular, from the setups of the lion king till Oklahoma, Modern and Old are Art, everything where good singing and music were played we will/want to see it.
feel that Europeans have a musical theater gene. Floor Jansen for instance, spent 6 years at the great Tilburg music school in Holland, studying music theater with her final year done in the opera conservatory. her goal always metal. I believe that European history is filled with music theater to a much greater extent than ours(certainly many more centuries than ours) hence my opening remark. I also believe that Europeans have a much greater access to music education than we do. Good reaction, but your sound is a little off, got a bit of music in a barrel sound in the playback

funny that you mention musical theatre...Floor Jansen studdiet oprah and musical theatre at the concevatory after her bachelar at rock academy....did you notice floors sister Irene as background singer?
The writer behind Ayreon, Arjan Lucassen is the writer of the text and music. And he also pics the singers who perform a certain part of the lyrics etc. It's a collaboration of many. But the main man is Arjan Lucassen, he started Ayreon.

Magali "Maggie" Luyten can sound very gentle voiced too (mot during this concert though), she is amazing, check out Intergalactic Space Crusaders from this same concert, Maggie goes wild ;-)
Interesting observation about musical theater. I think even West Side Story by Bernstein and Porgy and Bess by Gershwin were at the time very progressive musical productions (and I still love to hear that music). What I love when seeing these Ayreon live performances is to see how all musicians on stage enjoy the moment, must be a highlight in their career to join together on stage.

Arjan is according to himself heavily influenced by musictheatre. Andrew Loyd Webber being one of his favourites

I‘m a life long musical theatre nerd who got into metal in my mid twenties precisely *because* I started noticing the similarities to musical theatre. I always thought heavy music just wasn’t for me, without ever really giving it much of a chance. Turns out, it’s really just about adjusting your listening habits. I think the overlap between metalheads and musical theatre fans is greater than people think.

If you're interested in hearing other female heavy vocal singers I would suggest people like Jinjer, Melissa Bonny (of Rage of Light/Ad Infinitum) [my personal favorite], and Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy). Another good reaction!
Why wouldn't fans of metal and metal performers be interested in musical theatre? I think you'll find we have diverse tastes and can respect all genres of well crafted music. That other guy is Tommy Karevik of Kamelot and Seventh Wonder. He's really amazing.

It does not sound sill at all David. Much of Arjen's creations are a type of Broadway metal play. Vocalists playing roles in the story. That is Maggie Luyten the Belgian belter.
